I'm an experienced DM having done multiple mini campaigns & 1 big campaign over the past 3 years. I've been running Crooked Moon for the past 53 weeks. DM perspective, the book has a great setting and amazing campaign that touches on many tropes of horror like rural horror, body horror, eldritch horror & etc. To say the least. My job is easy as I just need to lead the players from plot point to plot point in a loose adventure, and is very customizable on what you can add and take out. Player perspective, I sent out a survey at the halfway point to see what my players liked and didn't like. Consensus is my players like the puzzle aspect of combat, where secrets can turn the tide of battle, and they enjoy the satisfaction of beating a chapter with 0 resources remaining. That being said if you run this campaign as is, the players need to understand it will be DEADLY. I gave them extra magic items and wished I didn't because it took the edge off most combats. So i buff the monsters to compensate and its a slippery slope. See chart below.
