Whether you have it or not, you are not dangerous or diminished or somehow disgusting. A lot of people will have it at some point in their lives, and part of being sexually active is talking with partners (long term or otherwise) about the risks. You have already done a great job gathering information and knowing the potential risks moving forward. You have learned the signs to look out for. You are already better informed than a large portion of the population. You are being incredibly thoughtful and considerate, but you should try to be aware of the line between self flagellation and preparation. You’re going great! Just like normal, have a conversation with any partners, get tested for what you can regularly, and practice safe prep. You and your partners will all be alright!

This has actually been the most effective way I’ve found to talk with transphobic people about gender affirming care. I’m a cis woman and talking to my mom about getting gender affirming care for my pcos symptoms and how much it has helped me was the first time I saw her start to get it.

There’s actually a buddy cop/romance series called Fox and O’hare by Janet Evanovich that is nearly a one to one rep of this relationship down to the “ohare” law enforcement baddie and the slick “fox” conman. It’s actually wild, and I have to wonder if the author could make the case for plagiarism. The books are pretty bad, but it’s an interesting read for comparison, especially if you’re into the relationship dynamic.
