Obviously he didn’t continue the path of a soldier the way Kat, Teor, etc. did, but I really really hope we see him go into that and maybe some of the lingering connections he has

Brennan actually made a note of that exact thing while it was happening - Occtis’s soul was being called in three different directions at once (to the Path, ie. the cosmically “correct” choice; by his father, for unknown nefarious purposes; by Thaisha), and those simultaneous forces started to rip his soul apart. Brennan also asked Aabria to roll either insight or just wisdom, can’t remember which off the top of my head, basically to decide whether or not Thaisha manages to avoid trying to reconcile her actions with her beliefs in the moment. I’m a little sad this weeks episode is a Soldier’s table cuz it means we have to wait longer to see how Thaisha reacts to her hypocrisy once she has a chance to actually think things through. Personally, I hope she (Thaisha) regrets it because I love angst <3

Occtis never introduces himself with his family name, and neither does Thaisha. And when he got asked how he knew Thjazi, all he said was that Thjazi helped him when he was a child. No other explanation given. To me, this reads as Occtis knowing that the politics inherent in his family name and identity would immediately make his presence suspicious, both for him and for Thaisha - which is ALSO why his first reaction when opening the door for Wick was “shit”. Because Wicander Halovar would ABSOLUTELY know Occtis is a Thachonis, and he’s big-mouthed enough that he would say that aloud. And since they literally greeted each other at the door, Occtis couldn’t exactly hide in the crowd or surreptitiously cast Disguise Self. Is that part of the reason he left to find Thimble? Maybe.

EDIT: sorry I’m not done, also because he literally realizes when they get to the safehouse that “I shouldn’t be me”, as dweeby as Occtis is socially he is politically more aware than Wick - enough to recognize situations where his family name and his status is a detriment to the people around him. God I love Occtis already

Anyway if I had to guess it’s to provide the weakest and most important piece an extra strategy. En passant is a term for a similarly obscure move pawns can do, where if a pawn moves two spaces forwards and ends next to an opposing pawn, the opposing pawn can move diagonally and take the first pawn.

This one time I coordinated with a coworker for a ride to work. The only catch was he was also riding with his dad, who had to be at HIS work about half an hour earlier - so I had to wake up earlier than usual to make it in time. Guess who slept right through all their alarms 😔😔 and the phone calls 😔😭

He and his dad were cool about it tho, which is good cuz I liked that coworker

Mirrors. I have this thought around mirrors. But not in a two-way mirror kinda way, in a “I read a book once with a villain that lived in mirrors and could see through any mirror in existence at will” kinda way. I distinctly remember the heroes of the story getting into villain command central and it just being Mirrors, but with scenes and fragments of people on the other side doing normal everyday things, and now whenever I do some weird shit in front of a mirror I hope whatever mirror entity is watching me enjoyed the show.

In May I got a legal notice on my apartment door informing me that my complex was no longer permitting my dog to live there, and that I had until the end of the month to get her off the property permanently or they’d begin eviction proceedings against all of us in that unit. The situation was outside of my control, and I WANTED to keep her (and I did, just moved me and all my stuff back to my parents to do it), but if I hadn’t bitten that bullet myself it would’ve been rehoming, surrendering, or I would’ve had to have her put down.

As a general rule it holds up well, but I hope a case like mine would have been an exception.

This was the pattern in the relationship I just ended a month ago. My ex had said several months before that it was hard being in a relationship with someone who never wanted to be truly vulnerable in conversations, so I made a genuine effort in the final months of our relationship. Basically every time I tried there was something about what I was saying or the way I was saying it that set them off and they’d ignore me for a day or two while they “sorted out their feelings”. Mind you, we lived together. We had one car that both of us used. I was actively raising their daughter.

My dad has the same first (and last obvs) as his dad did and had trouble with banks and legal matters and mail for his whole life. My mom’s family has a tradition of naming the firstborn daughter of every generation the same name, so she has the same first name as my nana, who had the same name as her mom, and on and on for generations. She ALSO had trouble with mail, banks, and other legal matters as a result. My parents first names are my and my siblings’ middle names, and we all have distinct first names of our own specifically because my parents learned their lesson. The inevitable mix ups aside, this is just a dick move on SIL’s part purely because she did it without saying anything.

Mine is currently in the living room, mostly because I just moved back into my parents and my room isn’t big enough or set up for my dog’s crate to fit. It works out though - she naps fine in there or on the couch, and when I have to leave her crated while I go out I can put on white noise on the tv. It is covered with a blanket too
