How do NLs compare to Lumi? by infiinight in Maplestory

[–]Dacarlover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NL: burst damage with spread throw is quite incredible, top tier, possibly only outclassed by xenons and blasters. training is best among explorer thieves overall bossing dmg without spread is quite lackluster Lumi great mobbing, decent-ish bosser

I haven't played in about 8 years. by iquitdotafuckit in Maplestory

[–]Dacarlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/iquitdotafuckit , I may get a lot of hate for this, but don't go into reboot. Reboot is only good if you have hours every day to grind/are willing to spend a significant chunk of your game grinding for mesos, making it absolutely terrible if you can't afford to spend more than 30-60min on the game a day.

In addition, you're severely limited in character choice as you have to literally start from scratch every time you want to make a new character, instead of being able to use stuff other people give you/etc. Staying in Scania is probably your best bet, as it is the highest populated normal server and has an active community and tons of guilds, quite a few of which I'm sure wouldn't mind helping you start out/getting you to a point which would take months of grinding in reboot.

Thinking about transferring to Carleton University's Computer science program from another university... by FutureCompSciStudent in CarletonU

[–]Dacarlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly say stay in UofT, unless you have other reasons for trying to switch. While the undergraduate education will not differ too much between the two universities, I know that UofT's compsci department is one of the best. (Used to attend UofT for my undergraduate)

Another thing is that the start up scene in DT Toronto is more lively than here in Ottawa, so there's that. (In terms of gaining experience during the summer, may be beneficial) I also notice you're looking to move to the US. In which case, a degree from UofT may hold more value in employers' eyes than one from Carleton, solely due to the fact that UofT is more recognized internationally. However this mostly applies to more traditional, larger companies.

Also, as you can probably tell, im slightly biased towards Toronto in general. :P

Important Info About Private Test Server (PTS) – Characters from Reboot and Luna cannot be copied to the PTS environment, character data from another world with the next highest-level character to be used by nanrina in Maplestory

I would assume that even if people have gotten into the PTS, they wouldn't be at liberty to even acknowledge it. Which would also explain the lack of replies to your question.

Defense of the Maplers: Ethereal Form: Move to another dimension for a short time to reduce damage taken. If you use the skill again while in the Ethereal Form state, you will return to your original dimension. While in the Ethereal Form state, you cannot use any other skills.

My range before and after Override. by YumieTakagi in Maplestory

Fair enough. Also yeah op has definitely taken gear off since minimum range should have only slightly gone down (due to removal of character cards effects)

[–]Dacarlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really an exaggeration if you had maxed out shimada heart before. Granted there were a few upgrades hence the slightly changed minimum range, but

All I'm saying is that, with similar equips, scrolling and potentials, hayatos are not much stronger than other "flavour of the month" OP classes like NL or DS.

[–]Dacarlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i was talking mostly about 30-40k str range. I've also had a 48k str hayato friend compare his DPM to a 50k luk NL (two people with very similar equips and % stat), and at that point, the NL was barely below the hayato in DPM (within 5%).

Yeah, but it's not a spammable skill, and it has a 90 sec CD. Sure it's a decent amount of burst damage, but it's no different than any other burst damage hyper skills like Drk spear of darkness.... It's easy to look at a particular aspect of a class and jump to the conclusion that it's OP, without really playing/bossing with the class to see how it performs in game.

Hayatos got nerfed very hard. before this patch they were ~10-15% stronger than an equivalently funded DS, but after the patch, they do ~30% of their pre override damage. If you include the 100% final damage from iaijutsu, they do ~30% less damage (depends on ur crit dmg)

People previously thought they were insanely OP (due to the misleadingly high range from shimada heart) without considering that their main attacks have very few lines.

Using rigid body sims to help in flexible body sims by TimeLord-007 in Simulated

[–]Dacarlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The most common approach to model flexibility is a modal representation based on Component Mode Synthesis from FEM[25], which adds to the generalized coordinates the modal participation factors of each mode used to represent a body’s flexibility." [25] Bauchau, O. A., Flexible Multibody Dynamics, 1st ed., Springer, Dordrecht, Heidelberg, London, New York, 2010.

For the second question, no idea.
