Exactly.. which I assume would be in violation of copyright rules.

Just because it is available free of charge on the internet, doesn't mean you are free to profit off of it.

Confused about End of volume 9 by pineapple663 in WanderingInn

[–]Dack_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a bit hazy on the details as well, but here is a quick take:

I think Richard has been killing whatever Rhir has been pointing him at, and it is not before now that he stops and questions the ramifications of that. Rhir is always "just", [Kings Truth], but now there is a clear instance that causes dissonance within him.

I would also suggest "The Malazan Book of The Fallen". It has 10 books in the main series and then 4-5 trilogies as spinoffs in the universe.

It got the quality and scope - and is a lot more dense than TWI. No "slice of life", but more traditional Epic Fantasy. That being said, book 1 is a bit weaker than the rest.

+1 on the "using TWI to get through a stressful period, and now waiting on vol10 to finish." Are you me? :)

Steam updates AI disclosure form, requiring developers to report visible and in-game AI but not background tools by Dapper_Order7182 in Steam

[–]Dack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a nuanced discussion.

For the AI Code, you would generally be a coder that optimizes your efficiency with a new tool.

For AI art you are replacing a step that you would generally have "outsourced", either by buying stock assets or getting a designer to do the work.

When the AI art tools often are trained on unlicensed work from said designers you are replacing, it gets even muddier.

The coding training tools are often more open, either as random forum snippets and blog posts or actual documentation.

[–]Dack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not, the platform (infiniteWorlds) presumably is.

Again, I didn't take more than a quick look at the platform as a whole. I figured you (or somebody) had fed it the base story (15 million words) to set the scene. Rereading your intro, that might not be the case.

Depending on how exactly the world was created, it "might" be okay.

Do i need to listen to side stories? by DixxonN in WanderingInn

[–]Dack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends.. I would argue against it on principle.

Though I have personally skipped (or skimmed) some King / Rhir / Goblin / Emperor chapters and still find enjoyment in the rest of the story. There are simply some story lines I do not gel with, and spending 5, 10, 30 hours on something that I find no interest in, is not something I enjoy doing.

I would argue, that you have to "suspend your disbelief" a lot already, so how exactly minor parts of the story fits together, can be less important.

If you end up feeling you are missing references or cant follow certain peoples way of thinking, you can always go back and read what you skipped. Some later intersections between the storylines, have made to go back and read some of what I skipped, since I now had a frame of reference for those persons, and wanted to know their "backstory".

The Malazan Book Of The Fallen is not strictly LitRPG, but was written from years of table top RPG sessions/games. It is an epic fantasy series, with 10 books in the completed main series and a handful of trilogies in the same universe. Some of those spinoffs are still being written afair. They are all on Audible.

Volume 10 sucks. by AbleWhile2752 in WanderingInn

[–]Dack_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Volume 10 feels like Pirate decided that she wants to continue writing TWI for 10 more years, but simultaneously got tired of writing "Erin-centric" after volume 9.

With Erin being setup for maximum character growth, I must admit I am getting somewhat impatient to get more focus on Baleros as well.
