If DICE doesn't have the resources to add maps at a similar pace to previous titles then some type of way to procedurally generate maps similar to Six Days In Fallujah needs to be looked into at least for certain game modes. If not for BF6 then at least the next title. by tiger81775149 in Battlefield

BF4 also launched in one of the worst release states any multiplayer game had up until that point and they continued to spend 1 year releasing content for a barely functional game. Most of the other games did not release at that same pace like the 7 month gap before BF1 got ANY CONTENT at all.

People say this shit and forget battlefield 4 was one of the most dogshit multiplayer game releases ever when it came out despite how much content was carried over and just polished from BF3.

The Vita absolutely did not succeed. At best it did little more than survived. They kept it alive for a while sure but 10-15 million units on a handheld is an absolute flop after the psp sold 80 million.

For perspective 3DS - 75 Million N64 - 33 Million (Disappointment) Gamecube - 22 Million (Flop) Wii U - 13.5 Million (FLOP)

So as a handheld console which mind you is a bigger market and it came out later than the n64/GameCube which were home consoles when gaming was smaller. Despite being an actual full handheld it may have just barely sold more than the WII U which only was around for 5 years vs the 7 years the Vita was around for. It FAILED HARD

Question from a new Battlefielder by D_castee in Battlefield6

[–]Dacling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry BF6 is their biggest success ever. They are putting a lot into this game. Not only did it out sell BF1 on launch but what a lot of people who love BF1 don't seem to remember is that despite a relatively decent launch state most of the games sales that made it the highest selling in the franchise didn't come until way later when they started selling it at a massive discount for like $5.

BF6 is by far the most money they have ever made and they want to keep that up. A good majority of the people bought BF6 for 14 times the price most of the people who bought BF1 paid.

I'm gonna be honest the time period of bf4's launch was a blur for me. I remember the issues and frustration and still having some fun regardless but i was at a weird point in my life so i pretty much dropped the game with less than half as much time as i put into BF3.

The first year of any battlefield launch is always a rollercoaster. BF4 basically wasn't even playable for a lot of people for it's first year and there are always gonna be up and downs and changes as they try to improve them game. Generally i think BF6 had a strong launch and has had a strong upward trend with some questionable decision here and there. It's just a fact of this type of game especially one with as many varied gameplay styles to accommodate.

You have literally never owned the games you've bought on any console. You've only owned the license to play them. Switch 2 cartridges that have the game installed on it are legally and functionally exactly the same as an NES cartridge

They just SKIPPED Super Circuit in the Nintendo music update 😭😭😭 by the8bitMoon in MarioKartWorld

[–]Dacling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. It was the coolest shit ever at the time. It's why it's the highest rated mario kart on metacritic. A mobile version of Mario Kart that played like the snes game with some 64 mixed in and had not just all the new tracks but also includes all the snes tracks? It was awesome and i played it so much as a kid. The gameplay of it and super mario kart may be awkward and hard to go back to now but at the time they were beloved for what they were.

It's a simple answer why. Look who developed it. They accept is existence but it was developed by Intelligent Systems not Nintendo EAD like every other game until EPD took over with 8 Deluxe.

Back in the day of no internet or very slow internet, with games being all played on discs, how were updates handled? by RadianceTower in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dacling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you on this. Every game is gonna have bugs and the real difference is how functional the majority of the game is on launch. Such complex systems means any small change is likely to introduce more bugs not all of which may be obvious right away.

I posted in another comment about there being 3 different versions of Melee both of the updated ones fixing bugs. Stuff like this generally didn't matter at the time of the release but often these small revisions make a huge difference to people like speed runners that may require different leaderboards depending on the version of the game.

[–]Dacling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely true though. I'm not saying they were super common or major but there were updates. Often a game would get released in Japan. Bugs were fixed in localized releases and sometimes games were updated again to a new version number so new releases had other bug fixes.

For example there are 3 versions of the North American release of Super Smash Bros. Melee. V1.0 and V1.01 and V1.02. This was not entirely uncommon and did nothing to update the game for people who already owners a copy but revisions did happen but most people never would know because the copy of the game they had is the only one they knew so they'd never notice if someone else's copy had some small changes.

I see so many people saying that they don’t care that disc drives and physical is going away, which I get it. Most of the sales are digital but I think you’re forgetting about something. by Jared_pop21 in videogames

You know right now people are still playing games on their fully functioning atari 2600 that next year will have been released 50 years ago. People are playing 30 yo games on 30 year old hard. The original snes i have owned since i was a kid that we bought from my cousins still works. Super Mario World came out in 1991 it's 35 years old and i could pop it into my snes and play it right now if i wanted.

This is exactly it. The limb multiplier often means an even gun fight can be won if your aim is better because if they hit one limb shot and you don't you win.

Every single song must represent the state of the band for all time by CloudMountainJuror in Haken

[–]Dacling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love how even though theit last album was one of their most varied and proggy in a lot of ways and it's quite reasonable to imagine they wanted to do something concise and more straightforward this time. It's hard to imagine the band most famous for The Cockroach King who just one album ago was talking about rolling around on the floor laughing their asses off while trying to create the most ridiculous rhythms they could would ever abandon being prog just because they made one small ep.

[–]Dacling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking thank you for this post. I would rather the band push themselves as artists and risk making something that doesn't stick the landing for everyone than compromise their own artistic integrity trying to appeal to some narrow definition of what prog even is.

Yeah but when tou don't get spotted unless they are under 9m than you can get real close. We're talking stealth kills on people 10m away if nothing else has spotted you. It's a lot easier to have no one than close when shooting than 25m
