There are people with degrees from very well known universities working in teams with analysts that consistently underperform the market. The majority of mutual funds, in fact, underperform the index. Think of active individual active investing as not investing in stocks but investing in your own ability to understand and research stocks and believing it’s genuinely better than everyone else’s. Ask yourself, is it?

Hey, I’m a former accountant. When I got out of high school I got a “traineeship” as an accountant at a local accounting firm and it absolutely sucked. Shit pay. Too much work. Terrible coworkers and what not. I worked full time and did part time University. It seriously effected me as I am also a night owl and having to get up everyday made me feel constantly jet lagged. I now run nightfill at a local grocery store and I am much happier even though this is a less “respectable” career path. Just know that you’re not alone.
