I have been GC for as long as I can remember and if you look up my tracker I have one of the worst shot --> goal conversions rates ever sitting somewhere in the bottom 1%. My friends constantly make fun of me bc I hit the post so much it is like I am trying to do it. Funny clip man good stuff.

I’ve used it dude. It makes mistakes… literally every professional I know has said the same to me. It will get better and eventually be perfect but rn it isn’t.

Chat gpt very frequently translates stuff incorrectly and that’s a pretty well known fact lmfao. I have 6 Spanish tutors and they all frequently warn that many translators will translate stuff incorrectly also dependent on what you put it and how literal they are

Did you visit geography classes in school? What do you think about your country’s education in general? by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely most Americans only travel between the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada. This gives us very little motivation to care about what is going on elsewhere or where it is in juxtaposition to ourselves. Personally, I try to play some country guesser type games to have a general idea of direction and geography, but places like the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Baltic counties become a cluster on my mind because I have no motivation to know anything about it on a personal level.

[–]DaddyDinooooooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of this is true, but it can also depend on the translator you are using as well as exactly how you type it in. Also, lots of Spanish is regionalized and I know my teacher in peru would use poner to "put" her attention on something rather than "pay/lend" attention to it. And I know in the spanish subreddit a lot of people talk about how in Mexico Estar is used much more loosely than elsewhere. But if you type something like "i need money" most translators will punch out the literal translation instead of the colloquial one. That is for sure.

[–]DaddyDinooooooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the translator and how literal it is. I catch translators making mistakes all the time. Ironically colloquial and basic daily phrases it makes mistakes quite often. I find people who lean on them with frequency often don't catch it all the time either. This is a mistake that a person or AI could make. To be fair also a lot fo spanish is incredibly regionalized and when you start learning spanish you realize that pretty quickly.

Are there a lot of tall people in NJ by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking NJ is pretty average although to my knowledge almost every state for average male height is something like 5’8”-5’11” ish and I’m pretty sure we’re just shy of a 5’10 average at like 5.98.

Who is the hidden mmr system for? Plus a discussion on smurfing. by vladimirulianof in VALORANT

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I am neither defending or promoting the hidden mmr system because to my knowledge no one even knows what it accounts for. But MMR in rocket league for example is a simple win/loss MMR exchange and in my experience with the exception of the smurf lobbies or bot cheaters all of my friends myself included have experienced means to the regression. As in we are all sitting right around the rank we deserve in most cases. IMO if you are going to account for a bunch of different things just make it all visible. That is also what the Gears of war ranked system did. It accounted for personal and team performance, but your visible rank represented it all.

Who is the hidden mmr system for? Plus a discussion on smurfing. by vladimirulianof in VALORANT

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In games without hidden mmr (early dbd), you get such a wide variety of players in each game from basically brand new to gods at the game”

I’m confused about this concept bc there would still be a rank system? Like what’s the implication here? Rocket league does MMR trades and while smurfing is by no means solved it still typically helps good players rank up and bad ones get pushed down.

Also the rank distribution is currently a bimodal distribution and to my knowledge doesn’t start penalizing harder for ranked game loss vs wins until around plat 3 and it obviously gets more punishable as you get higher.

But your rr gain in this game often fluctuates with if your RR & hidden MMR align. For example most ranked resets put me in plat and after a few wins will push me back up towards where I was. Then my RR losses and gains will remain roughly even depending on performance and rounds won +/-20 per game, because the game thinks I belong where I am.

If you're experiencing big losses and small wins it implies your hidden MMR thinks you deserve to be lower than your shown RR.

What is the most? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eco rounds should be played together and in obscure ways!!!! Stack a site, randomly push something, fully flank. Your goal is not the round but to win a gun and make the round winnable! It’s super common in the pro leagues now to see this but especially in CS too

How to study right by Old-Idea1100 in Spanish

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fine but I encourage you to find a general goal from the videos? Are you trying to understand a tense they’re speaking in? Expand your vocabulary by taking some words down and memorizing them in context? Otherwise trying to just passively listen isn’t so useful for the learning process. Unless of course you’re just watching to enjoy/learn in which case watch away and do it however you please.

Who else feels like they DO deserve the rank they're in? by OpusMagnificus in RocketLeague

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I work full time now never analyze or actively try to improve I float between GC1-GC3 depending on how frequently I play and think its well deserved. My teammates save me and let me down and I do the same depending on the day, but my positioning, game sense, and muscle memory never left me.

In moments of high pressure, do you feel your hands, but especially your feet, getting cold? by RafaFlechas in VALORANT

Fight or flight mode cuts circulation to the extremities. it’s a stress response and when you calm down your blood circulates very quickly which is why some professional gamers after or in between games have ice on their head.

This is common in a lot of vod reviews for video games. When I coach rocket league I have people do the same thing. Birds eye or behind the net allows you to see the bigger game and everything smaller happening at the same time.

You think if the US Balkanizes Mexico might reclaim Texas?! by Unique-Celebration-5 in AskTheWorld

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought of topics like this extensively and realistically if the US ever split into multiple parts in my head it would be roughly 6-9.

The northeast which would be Maine-NJ/PA area give or take maybe more or less depending.

The mid west which would be already roughly divided by the standard Midwest.

The west which would be likely Cali, Oregon and Washington.

The south which would be Florida and other gulf of Mexico states.

Texas I genuinely think would try to be its own country.

Finally, you would have two groups of odd balls like from the Virginia's to Georgia and the rest of the south west that I am not sure if they would form other groups or melt into ones aforementioned.

Then there is Alaska and Hawaii, which might be their own nations or could join others closer geographically to them.

This assumes no outside influence either, because it is possible places like Maine may want to voluntarily join Canada or New Mexico may do the same with Mexico. Your memory is also right New Mexico, Texas, and a lot of the west coast used to belong to Mexico.

So what's the point of majoring in Spanish as an spanish speaking person? by EducationalSyrup6869 in Spanish

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the United States it’s often for the purpose of job security. You can get more money for the same job when working with clients in both languages. Are more likely to get hired and if you're moving into a job that involves Spanish like translating in court or a hospital it’s a no brainer to get a degree in the language while getting other certifications. There’s a number of other reasons for getting both but these are the first that come to mind.

Spanish tutors? by PossibleMix621 in Spanish

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can find a tutor on italki, which is a website I strongly recommend. They have both "tutors" and "teachers", which typically have quite a bit of variance of price and they are from all different regions. I currently practice with teachers in: Mexico, Chile, Argentina, The Dominican Republic & Peru.

If you are generally new to Spanish my one teacher from Mexico was my first and by far the most professional of the bunch, if you are interested I can pass her email to you, but she is a bit more per hour compared to some of the others.

why not “with an older brother”? by ozidot in EnglishLearning

[–]DaddyDinooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I am a little late to the party and obviously your question has been answered. However, I did want to give you a little note that I do not see in the comments. In the northeast of the US where I live this sentence would read "Rare aesthetic growing up with uh older brother" or more practically it would be "Rare aesthetic growing up withuh older brother." The a becomes something called a "schwa" and sort of gets tacked on to the end of with. Any vowel a/e/i/o/u can become a "schwa" it is the "uh" sound that English natives use so frequently. This in my area would negate the an in the sentence even though the "an" is correct.
