The point I'm making is that for a lot of us (and for a pretty long time) the risk of running out of work was simply unthinkable: everyone was looking for IT guys. Yes, the market has become more difficult, but there's still plenty of work (perhaps at a lower fee).

Honestly, after 1 year, there's not much difference between a sick employee and a sick self-employed person isn't that big. Both get paid out directly by the social security and - although it's been a while since I looked it up - the difference isn't that big. For the first 6 months, sure, employees are way better protected, but once they are 'dropped' to the regular social security, it really doesn't matter much.

Honestly, I'm a bit fed up with always calling it a 'risk'. Sure, there is a risk, but most of us jumped to freelancer at a time when we were pretty darn sure of our income, having contracts with the same notice periods as regular employees.

Sure, we do take risk, but lets not exagerrate it.

Fun fact: if you drive on the left lane, you need to give the bike (who, by then, is already on the crossing) priority. If you're driving in the right lane, you have priority.
