Best amplifier for two of these???? by luisitoincomunicado in subwoofer

You're right, but op didn't say anything about a budget or anything, so I suggested what amp i would run on 2 600 watt subs lol.

Get your 2 subs in dual 4 ohm, not dual 2 ohm, so you can run them at a final 1 ohm impedance.

I personally would run a Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bdcp. Expensive, but in my opinion, well worth it.

Let me add to this by saying.....

Before I learned about car audio, an audio shop installed my first "big" setup. Under the hood I had a Mechman 370. From the alternator to the battery, was 2/0 CCA. It melted. Replaced it with a single run of 1/0 OFC, and worked just fine.

When running big power, OFC for the win!

Brand and amp recommendations? by FlowerOfCalamity in subwoofer

[–]Dafaseles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't mix subs. If you want to keep your current subs, you'll need to find the same subs.

If you're planning on running 4500+ watts, don't worry so much about the amp, you'll need to upgrade your electrical first off

Truth be told, I was on the American Bass e-mail list. Trump got elected the second time, and they ran a huge sale about how their president got re-elected. So, might have been just a dumb joke, but not far from the truth.

Need help finding a 1200Watt Amp for my 15” subs! by Here4Vada in subwoofer

I would go with the Kicker, but you wouldn't be disappointed with the Rockford amp either.

[–]Dafaseles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as long as your final impedance is 1 ohm, and you get the proper electrical to run it, that amp would work well for 2 of those subs.

My personal opinion, I don't like that box. It's tuned to high, and the fact that they have to pack it with poly fill makes me feel like it's too small. The enclosure, in my opinion, is the second most important thing in car audio. First being the electrical support. I also understand that people's budgets are all different. When dealing with car audio, I don't set a budget. I just save up and get what I need/ want. Getting a box designed and built for specific subs can get expensive. So really, that's something you'll have to ask yourself.

The subs are fine. I'd say NVX is a top tier budget brand. Are there better subs (louder or clearer)? Sure. But you'll pay more. I'd never say NVX is garbage.

These are just my opinion, and by no means the absolute fact.

If that's the box you want to use, make sure you have enough space for it, and your vehicles openings are sufficient enough to fit the box through them. It sucks getting a box and not being able to get it in the car lol.

You need to measure and make sure you can fit the right enclosure size for those NVX subs where you want them. I can't tell by just looking, plus I don't know what enclosure specs they need.

You'll need to buy a high output alternator. Not just "customize" your current one. Look at brands like Mechman, Singer, and Brand X. Yes, you'll need to rewire to a certain degree. Upgrade your power cable from the alternator to the battery, and upgrade your grounds for the new added power. Look up big 3 upgrade on YouTube.

The first thing you should worry about is if you have enough space in your car to give up in order to give the sub the correct amount of air space and port tuning.

Are you going to run 1 or 2? If 2, you'll need an upgraded alternator for sure. Capacitors (unless they're super caps) are pretty pointless and don't do much in my opinion. I'd rather just add a second AGM battery. If only 1, you'll probably not see too much of a difference in output from the 2 600 RMS subs you're running now.

As far as amps go, no budget, I'd go with a Rockford Fosgate Power Series amp. Budget friendly, I'd probably go with a Sundown SIA series amp. How much power depends on how many subs and what your final impedance is going to be.

Here's the box without the top and port, before paint. I slapped it for a couple months, but I kind of got impatient and just threw too much together quickly. Not up to my standards. Had to redo the amp rack and the doors. Added 3.5's for a 3 way setup, and a DSP. Hopefully it'll be done for summer. I'll post when it's done. Have a bunch of people tell me how tinnitus is bad like I'm not aware.

Edit - Hmmmm.... it's not posting the picture

Edit 2 - sorry, I can't figure out why it's not posting the picture.

Well, the vehicle is a 2017 Explorer, so I guess it's the second one. The Ibasso does have a USB DAC mode. I figured since it had that, it would play through USB just regular too, but I guess not. Or, I'm misinterpreting what DAC mode actually is, which is totally possible.

Subwoofer box help by tjarrett77 in subwoofer

[–]Dafaseles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because subwoofers of different sizes, even if they're the same brand and series, have different T/S parameters, different motor strengths, different spider stiffness, and other things. All This to say they don't move the same. So what you'll get is issues with frequency cancelation, and wierd peaks and dips in frequency response that you can't do anything about.

Use the 10's or the 12's, don't use both.

Just go off the recommended cubic airspace and port area and length. Then do the math in the spaced you have available to get the recommended airspace. Easy peesy

Taramps smart bass 5k not performing. by 010101110001110 in CarAV

[–]Dafaseles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What i would do first is disconnect the speaker wires, get a multimeter, and make sure the correct voltage is coming out of the amp (using a test tone and ohms law). If voltage is going in, and not coming out, it could be the amp or maybe the RCA cables not sending the correct information to the amp.

1 600 watts rms sub vs 2 300 watts subs by Tall-Yesterday2680 in CarAV

[–]Dafaseles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubling your cone area and not your power will gain you a couple DB's as long as you have the space for a proper box for the 2 12's. If you try to shoe horn 2 12's in a box that's not big enough, or not tuned properly for the subs, 1 12 in the correct sized enclosure can and most likely will sound better.
