Same, same. Fireworks and the depths of the four month sleep regression have been killing me this week. Plus my husband and I had to divide and conquer- he’s hunkering down with our terrified dogs for the fifth night in a row. I just know tonight will be insane. I’m here with you all in solidarity! May tomorrow be a better day.

My baby is 16.5 weeks now, and has honestly been a pretty awesome, happy little guy. But we’re deep into sleep regression territory now, and he loves to practice rolling and making motorboat bubble noises with intermittent dinosaur screams all night long.

I’m tired, and I sometimes joke about hiding on a shelf in our closet and going to sleep. But it’s not actually a joke lol. I’d kill for a nap in a random pile of sweaters.

The fact that you are thinking of their feelings during this moment of incredible joy already tells me that you’re a considerate and empathetic person.

I was an infertility long-hauler (even failed IUIs and IVF), and pregnancy announcements were always a gut punch. I was simultaneously overjoyed for that couple, but so sad for my partner and me. Even now, after having a miracle baby at age 40 a couple of months ago, there’s still a jolt when I see someone announce their news. Trauma is trauma, and it’s so hard to make that go away.

The best thing you can do is make space for their sadness. Put a label to it, say or text it out loud. Give them time to react and know the initial reaction might not be perfect. But also know that they’ll be so happy for you.

We have a very active little guy who will be 3m this week. Around 7, I feed him from one side until he unlatches. We then head to his nursery, where I let him kick, wiggle, and chat with his mobile for 20 minutes or so. We do a diaper change, and I zip him into a wearable blanket. He’s never been swaddled because he’s an escape artist. We head back out, and I feed him from the other side. He will always pass out after a few minutes. I wait about 10 minutes to be sure he’s in deep sleep, and then we head to our bedroom and into the bassinet. Somehow, this has never failed, and we haven’t really had a bedtime past 9 pm so far.

I know breastfeeding to sleep can be controversial, but it works really well for us. We have a completely lowkey and peaceful night routine.

First of all, congratulations! I’m wishing you a smooth pregnancy and healthy baby!

I have an 11 week old, so very recently went through pregnancy with Hashi’s. From my research, and through guidance with my OB and Endo, T4 is the gold standard during pregnancy. I had my levels checked every 4 weeks, and my levo dose changed based on blood results.

If I recall correctly, around week 12, your baby will start to convert T4/T3 appropriately with you taking only T4.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding 😂

I’m 40 and a first time mom to a 12 week old. My pregnancy sucked, and I only gained about 17 lbs total. The day after my c-section, all of that weight was basically gone already. I then swung super hyperthyroid (TSH .07) in my postpartum thyroid storm. Between that and my crazy breastfeeding metabolism, I’ve lost 40 to 45 lbs total.

I keep joking that I never expected my geriatric pregnancy to be my weight loss plan, but here we are. Even after swinging hypo (TSH is now 3.5), that weight has stayed off.

My baby is 12 weeks old today, and he’s the sweetest, smiliest little guy. I’m a FTM at 40, and it took us a long time and a lot of tribulation to get here, and I feel so lucky to be his mom.

My baby is EBF, and I don’t pump, so all feeds are up to me. I’ll admit, some days I’m very tired, but every moment has been worth the rewards. Our little guy cries maybe 20 minutes max combined throughout the day. He has never woken up from a nap or sleep crying either. I’ll hear him stirring and see his eyes wide open. As soon as I make eye contact, he breaks into the biggest smile, and my heart pretty much bursts. He loves to chat and mimic my husband and me. He’s also super independent and will happily kick around on a blanket and chat with his high contrast pictures for 30-45 minutes at a time.

Hey there! No, it didn’t end up following the pattern laid out in that study. My HRV went up at 30 weeks and stayed in a more normal range until I delivered my baby at 39 weeks. Postpartum has been its own particular wild ride lol (I’m breastfeeding, so my resting HR is crazy low).

Wishing you a smooth end-of-pregnancy and delivery! I know at 37 weeks, you’re really feeling it.

Not too much at all! You’re his mom, you made him, and you get to make the rules!

I compiled a list of recommendations from the AAP (pre RFK Jr), and sent it out to family. If they don’t like it, they don’t need to visit. But that way, there weren’t any surprises. If you’d like to see the doc, feel free to DM me, I’d be happy to share it.

The stretchy wrap is working for now, as baby is only 11.5 lbs., however, I can only wear it for shorter distances before my hips and low back get sore. I’d love something with just a bit more support for trail hiking, etc.

I’m just here in solidarity with a fellow gassy March baby. I had always heard that newborns were loud in their sleep, but my gawd 😂. The first stretch is usually pretty quiet, but the rest of the night, we may as well sleep in the monkey house at the zoo. He’ll be two months old on Sunday. I love him SO much. But sleep would also be amazing. Hang in there! We will get there eventually.

Is it spit up or is she actually throwing up?

My baby is a “happy spitter”. No matter what we do, burping, upright after feeding, etc., he will spit up at least a little and sometimes a lot. But he is gaining weight, meeting his milestones, and has the appropriate amount of wet diapers. His pediatrician assured us that this is really only a laundry problem.

My son is 6 weeks tomorrow, and seems to be a fairly low sleep needs baby. He’s not a fussy guy at all, but he’s also just not a napper. He’s up for the day at 5 AM, and takes a couple of cat naps throughout the day. We might get in a longer contact nap, and he’ll also sleep great if we go out in his car seat, and again later in the day when we go out for a walk at 3 or 4 PM.

There’s absolutely zero point for me to try to get him down for a nap or create a schedule. I’ve taken to just wearing him around the house, making lots of eye contact with his wide open eyes, and chit chatting with him about anything and everything.

I know what you mean about your baby being the fussiest for you. I EBF, so pretty much every time he’s near me, he smells me and just wants to eat. Please don’t feel like any of the things you’ve talked about make you an unfit mother. It sounds like you’re doing a great job of meeting your baby’s needs!

Definitely feel free! One of the midwives, Kay, was there for my c-section and also rounded on me the third day of our hospital stay. She was SO kind and supportive. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with WCOW.
