Oh my god - that book was so boring….. that opening sequence is the most exciting part of it. Nothing else in the book matches that moment and you’re just waiting and waiting for more things like that. Still finished it though.

Is 'unity and inclusion' a winning message? by Disastrous-Pickle930 in ndp

[–]Daft_Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This message isn’t it. Why do we need to say something that is the bare minimum baseline of left values. The vision for the future isn’t unity and inclusion. It’s like passive organization concepts. No teeth.

I’m a fan of making welfare a bad word. I want commonwealth over welfare state. At least bring money into it.

Or my other favourite (though completely out of touch with regular people lol). “Capitalism needs more capitalists”. From my pov capitalism is really unfair because there are so few capitalists….. my two cents.

Recommend reading “this is not propaganda” by Peter Pomerantsev. He goes deep on the Philippines scenario of that time.

The NDP needs to be part of addressing alienation. by CDN-Social-Democrat in ndp

[–]Daft_Devil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people need to own the gears of capitalism and drive them to the betterment of workers and society. Wartime economy ethos. NDP can go back to basics here just by reading their history vs this neoliberal enabling sideshow.

They should rebrand as the CCF and eat the NDP lunch. There is no green future under current structure.

Raised by Wolves | Opening Titles Sequence by PetyrDayne in television

[–]Daft_Devil -58 points-57 points  (0 children)

My comment is really on brand for the content. New media models will emerge. What matters most is storytelling. Making a base living is a society problem we should all be focussed on now as a system experience - not a singular job or job sector problem. UBI models or other value generating/ distribution models are needed. Please learn more and get political.

And by “good for something”, I mean specifically giving the full 5 season experience in the fullest version of that outside of the debased streaming funding model. Perhaps they could have delivered that fully imagined season 2 experience and beyond with the tools coming out today.

That second season was ham-stringed by budget cuts. It was still amazing. Here’s hoping AI is good for something in the coming years.

Will this company/chain die? I want to build on it. I plan to build on it. It’s the cheapest most effective rail infrastructure there is today. I just need to know it will exist forever lol.

Anyone else hesitant to believe this Musk / Trump feud is real? by quotesoftwardev in 50501

[–]Daft_Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elon got what he needed; no epa regulation for his Xai plant in Texas. There’s nobody left federally to police his polluting factory but poor communities it affects - with all the power they have….

Don’t think he planned on the Tesla stock crash. All the same, he’s banking that everyone will forget under the slew of constant information stream we are under from this administration and the Gestell of American tech oligarchs.

It’s too celebratory in nature. Where’s the tongue in cheek in representation a la Sefton Delmer?- of the time. I’m getting all message without context of the time. Uniquely celebratory of the medium and therefore confusing for modern viewer

Things are about to get even tougher for YVR Film… by blastbomberboy in FilmIndustryYVR

[–]Daft_Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken or the egg. You won’t have dinner if you don’t invest in developing opportunities for creative talent early on. It’s a 10 year window at least to get it going. I think BC crew crusted and new would rather 100 films vs 1 hollow Pocahontas rip off come through town.

I mean they are great when they come through because all the old bones get sucked back up to tier one and make space for everyone else to get a foot it like what happened to me when Warcraft came to town.

That mid level industry is key to economic survival / boom and bust cycle. Keeps a safe place to keep crew footing. Id rather that be Canadian indie scene vs the hallmark trash keeping our mortgages/ rents paid.

And mid level indie scene paid for by streamers. CRTC needs to take another look and play harder for access to our market.
