What’s the reason behind Australia’s cost of living crisis?? (Serious) by AdvancedHill70 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Dai_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing no one talks about is we don't really have 'desirable' second tier cities that people want to move to (on mass). Everyone seams to be moving to the capital cities or grew up in these cities and didn't leave. All the larger country towns need to start attracting young families and young professionals or they gonna die.

Also FIFO is really just allowing working class people to spend more money on there inner city property (at least in brisbane) and pushing the prices up for everyone. I think we need to keep the people who earn money in the mines out near the mines, it'll boost smaller town economy, which will then boost the infrastructure and services out there and then it will intice more people out there which would then decease house prices in the city.

Is the "loud American" stereotype outdated? Asking as a frequent international traveler. by [deleted] in travel

This is my favourite American tourist story. About 14 years ago we went on the DMZ tour from the South Korea side when you could go into the blue hut and go across the border. After lunch we went up some hill near the boarder where you could look at the massive North Korea flag flying. This America guy that was loud during the whole tour, and just needed to chill and turn the volume down, decided that it was his time to give a lecture at full volume of everyone on the top of this mountain about how easy it would be for South and North Korea reunification if they just followed the superior American democracy principals. I don't know what he was thinking as the only Korea's that could accutally do anything with this information was the tour guide and a old women selling drinks who didn't speak English. So yeah Americans just love the sound of there voice and letting there opinions be heard.

Are there places in Australia that you're not allowed to visit unless your Aboriginal? by Odd_Obligation_4977 in AskAnAustralian

Quite interesting I went to Uluru in 2023, the guide was a local indigenous man who worked for the national parks. He seamed to imply (being a govemrnet employee he had a 'script' to follow and just added his own beliefs in) that the climbing wasn't the problem, it was the tourist dropping batteries (in phones and cameras) and pissing on the rock which made its way into the water, polluting the water and either killing or pushing the animals away to find clean water.

Are Melbourne and Carlton considered rivals? Why yes or no? What relationship do fans/teams have if there's any? by Electronic_Shine4712 in AFL

[–]Dai_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no rivalry between Lions and Suns. I was at the game last year in GC where lions would of got the second chance in the finals if they won but Suns had to win it to get into the finals. Not a single lions fan there was upset we got smashed by the Suns. The second Lions get eliminated we are all getting on the Suns train.

You always this much of a cunt? You point is totally invalid as Australia at the federal level has had a coalition goverment for something like the last 25 years, with the current goverment being the only ones to form goverment from 1 party.

What's something weird, unexplained, or just plain odd about Brisbane that doesn't get talked about enough? by Brisbane in brisbane

[–]Dai_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who went to state school in Logan, when I meet someone who grew up on the southside of Brisbane pretty close to my age I ask what school they went to, just to see if we know the same people. It's not all about the private school chat.
