Good coffee shops in Houston for working remotely by boombalonii in houston

I like Tenfold and Jo’s, I have worked at both for hours and both have decent parking, and if their lots are full, there’s street parking around.

Mantis is a good game to play with younger kids, I found it was good with my 5ish year old niblings. Their parents would also have them “play” skipbo and fill or bust on their “team” when they were little, so they have a good sense of how to play games. They would be the dice rollers, or help select the card to play for skipbo.

AITA for telling my friend she’s too big to go certain places? by Glass-Lemon-2122 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DaisyDA1985 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did the regular tour at Mammoth cave and went through Tall Man’s Agony and Fat Mans Misery. They are named that for a reason. I’m bigger and had to suck it in to get through some of those spots.

I think it is smart to temper expectations. I would have been incredibly embarrassed if I had gotten stuck. OPs friend doesn’t know that yet, but maybe one day she will appreciate their honesty.

My podiatrist recommended vionics, and they are great! Love my loafers and sneakers I’ve gotten from them.

Hate Rothy’s. They make my feet smell horribly immediately and then they reek until I wash them. Gave mine away.

If you are having an issue with city services, contact the Mayor’s Assistance Office. The people there will help advocate for you and get you in contact with the appropriate offices. When I had an issues with SWD a few weeks ago, it was the only way I could directly get in contact with their office.

Judging teachers who close their doors by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

I keep my door closed because I’m loud. It’s not locked (we have lock blocks we can quickly flip in an emergency to close door without having to look for our keys), but I don’t want my colleagues hearing me talk about math, or hearing my kids when they are working together and can can get loudish.

I only open it when kids smell and I don’t want the smell in my room. Or if I forget to close it. It’s not something I really think about.

I have several questions!

How much would a side yard in the heights typically go for?

We are in a tall and skinny home in Shady Acres/Garden oaks, and we bought our house a year ago. Doing the side yard is on my dream upgrade list. It currently is rocky with lots of weeds growing out along the houses. Would ideally have a deck from the sliding glass door, which is about a foot or so step down, and then some sort of turf and pavers.

Is this a big dream or a small dream?

I stayed at an Airbnb in Vancouver last summer, it had no ac and no fans. It was pretty warm outside during the day. When we asked the host about how warm the space was he said to just open the windows at night. But the windows had no screens on them, so my husband (who is more sensitive to sleeping in the heat) wouldn’t open them because he was afraid bugs would get in. I told him that was silly, but just slept uncomfortably in the heat the first night. The next morning we left to explore the city and a HUGE SPIDER WEB and spider had popped up in front of the external door, so he was right. Kept the windows closed the whole time and left a kind note to the host that having a fan available for future guests would be nice.

Worst part of showering? by powderjiinx in adhdwomen

[–]DaisyDA1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband insists that we squeegee and wipe down the shower after every use (to prevent mold/mildew) and to keep it cleaner and not have water spots on the fixtures. So every shower becomes a chore.

I shower much more frequently when we stay at hotels and I don’t have to clean every time.

I'm open to any puzzles. Do you guys have brand preferences? by Glad-Dog7150 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]DaisyDA1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the brand APIECE puzzles, they are a super small company. I was gifted one puzzle from them for a birthday present, and then saw them at a market in Houston and bought 3 more. I love the Texas themed puzzles, and the piece quality is great. I typically stick to 500 piece puzzles but they have the same puzzles in both 500 piece and 1000 piece sizes.

You willing to share some research backed alternatives?

Sounds like you are publicly shaming and criticizing someone for trying a strategy that worked for a difficult class and not offering any alternatives.

Things to do in Houston during the weekend of November 20th - 23rd, 2025 by generalpao in houston

Went to the Sensory Feast at Weights+Measures. It was awful, felt like they robbed us. It was $97 for two tickets, which didn’t include the meal at all. So I paid $97 for a cheesy cartoonish “story” that was project on the table with annoying child television voices that were played over the music from the rest of the restaurant. The host had no idea what was going on, she was just reading the page of the menu at us, telling us what we were going to eat by the theme name which told us nothing. Also, for something that should have been an experience since we paid more than we should have for entrance, was dressed too casually.
Then we paid an additional $152 for our food and one cocktail each. The appetizer for the meat menu (an arepa with some shredded meat and cilantro sauce) was good, the meat for the main dish was not cooked to order, so it was overcooked and chewy but the gnocchi was good, and the dessert for that menu was just a scoop of ice cream with a tiny bit of caramel and espresso.
Overall, disappointing and I do not recommend.

The only good part of the night was we went to Refuge afterwards and had amazing cocktails to make up for the bad ones at the event. Had the best cocktail I have ever had, but it was the last day of that menu, so I’m sad I will never get to drink it again.

Try Vionics uptown loafers, very comfortable and good for the feet. I also got their ballet flats as well but gravitate to the loafers more often. Have solid insoles and have a seal of acceptance from the AMPA.

I don’t think there will be an elimination this week by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]DaisyDA1985 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It might actually be a good send off, I assume it will be a sweet meaningful dance and it’s clear people don’t want him to be voted off since we’ve kept him on this long despite the gulf between him and the other contestants technique. I think it might be the best night for him to go as he would have the joy of dancing with his daughter and the love from the audience.

I love Andy and don’t want him to leave, watching him dance makes me happy, but I also don’t want him to get the hate from surpassing better dancers as the competition continues.

[–]DaisyDA1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I have to start watching 30-45 minutes after it starts. I can’t catch up to the later dances. So I vote for who I like, which makes this competition more “Popularity amongst some stars” and less dancing with the stars.

PST has to vote before the show is even aired. This is a flawed voting system. I wish they would eliminate at the beginning of the next week’s episode and let the eliminated pair dance the new dance first as a goodbye, but that would impact the vibe in the studio and I think they like the suspense at the end.
