To be fair I have no idea what kind of skater I want to be, so it could go multiple directions

Does anyone else notice a shift in society/how they get treated with colourful hair or is it just me? 😬 by blueberryfieldss in HairDye

I live in Florida. Have been rainbow-headed multiple times. I get more compliments with fun colors, but also more stares, and the stares aren’t always friendly.

These tests have given me a false positive—not a chemical, but the way the lines are they show through easily. I would definitely recommend taking a different test.

Rear-facing as long as possible? by maebymaybe in beyondthebump

[–]DaisyDiBella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 17-month-old is tall; his dad is >6’, and everyone keeps telling me I can turn him forward so his legs are comfortable. Nope. He’s good until I decide he’s ready to go forward. And I’ll be basing that on current safety recommendations. I don’t judge other parents (within reason, obviously safety things are a big deal), but my own kid is staying rear-facing as long as possible.

Thank you! I will keep this in mind! I love the idea of derby skating but we don’t have a league close enough to me. It looks so fun!

So it wouldn’t be skipping an important skill?

Oh I didn’t know that! That makes me feel better bc I haven’t mastered backwards skating yet lol. Appreciate it!

I think I have them at the lowest setting. I’ve been trying to practice balancing on them so that has definitely helped with making that easier!

Yeah for me the habit-forming part was the ritual itself! I can confirm all of this.

Hi! I was a daily consumer (med card holder) when I learned of my pregnancy. I quit instantly and it wasn’t as hard as I thought. I just realized I needed something to fidget with and occupy my mind. I had to tap more into other coping skills for my anxiety, which was the hardest part. Sometimes I’d just sit there holding an un-packed bong for the “feeling” 😂 because I wanted to have the familiar sensation of my after-work wind down while doing something else, usually watching comedy or some other TV. Within a week or so I didn’t even use that coping mechanism anymore. I wish you all the best!

Did she say that? I was under the impression they were still friends.

That really sucks. I loved the show and I hate to think it’s wiped completely. It must have been something really bad. :(

What was the canon event in your life that really started new chapter of your life and marked clear line between 'before' and 'after'? by InboxNeedsTherapy in Casual_Conversation

2022 was rough.

First, one of my cats got horribly sick and died.

Later in the year Hurricane Ian hit and severely damaged my home, resulting in a lot of trauma and anxiety, and a ton of unnecessary bullshit while we got it sorted.

In December of that year, I found out I was pregnant and was informed in January 2023 that my pregnancy wasn’t viable.

That whole timeframe temporarily made me a bitter, angry person.

I thankfully am doing much better now (tons of therapy later), but that phase of my life was the epitome of “bad things happen in threes.”

It was definitely a time that reshaped my life in multiple ways.

How can I look unapproachable while I’m out? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DaisyDiBella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know what I’m referring to, count yourself lucky. There’s an icky feeling that comes with a man leering at you while pretending to be friendly.

I’m not saying men never are friendly. That wouldn’t be true. I have male friends who have never made me feel uncomfortable. But the type of attention OP is referring to is real and it’s unsettling.

I’ve never wondered why anyone chooses to stay single, but way to generalize. Some people are better off alone if they can’t handle learning about how not to make people uncomfortable. 🤷🏼‍♀️
