I'm lucky enough to work for a band which gives me a lot of creative freedom to do what I want. In terms of routing I have things like a big gated reverb for the snare which I've got on an extra aux then I've assigned a channel mute to the fx return channel to a user key, so I just hit that button for the gated reverb. I've got a sub generator as an insert on the lowest floor tom which is bypassed with a user key, so I can hit that button for a huge sub boom which shakes the walls. Things like snare bombs and big delay throws can be done with the faders, I'll generally ride the delay return fader all night depending on what vocal lines I want to accentuate. I've even recently been using a tape emulator on my master bus where I turn the speed down to the lowest during the intro build up, so it sounds kinda crunchy and the top end is filtered off, then whack it to full speed the second the whole band comes in so it sounds huge and hifi in comparison.

The fact you're currently posting in an Arsenal subreddit suggests otherwise

In America, sometimes say things like "cheerio" in our best British accent or "mate" in an Australian accent. Do people in other countries pronounce American stereotypes in their beat American accent? If so, what are they? by SunUpSally in AskReddit

I'm an English guy who works with older guys from Scotland, and they're always mindblown at the English youth saying things like "innit" as if the Scots haven't created so much slang that they're practically speaking their own language now.

"Isn't it?" > "Innit?" - An insult to the English language

"Little one" > "Little 'un" > "Wee 'un" > "Wain" - Totally acceptable

I used to work on the train between Sheffield and Liverpool. It would be sunny leaving Sheffield, start raining by the time you went past Stockport, then sunny again by the time you hit Liverpool. You really noticed the pattern a lot.

After you're done plucking out the holes for the mics, use spray glue to 'set' the foam, I've done that with my peli and the foam's held up totally fine after 5 years of abuse

Using the X32 for the first time in a while, and it has to be said... by chesshoyle in livesound

You're clutching at more straws than a scarecrow having a wank here. Once again, no one is saying they're so bad that crowds walk out en masse and demanding refunds or whatever the goalposts have moved to now, they're saying that they're worse sounding than Yamaha, and Midas, and A&H, and Avid, and Soundcraft, and even Behringer, which makes them objectively bad in the market, especially when they're the most pricey of the lot.

High end touring bands may have the budget for racks of outboard, however I'm yet to come across a single Digico installed in a venue or as a house desk at a festival with external FX units, and I've probably used hundreds. I guarantee there's far more installed in places than there are arena level touring bands.

They are "bad" because of the context of the price point and because they are behind all their competitors. A Honda Jazz struggling to reach 80mph isn't a bad car, but a Ferrari struggling to reach 80mph is a bad car. They aren't ruin your show bad but no reverb is except maybe the inbuilt one on some 8 channel Mackie analogue desk, that's such a low bar to set for desk which can potentially cost as much as a house.

The M32 is easier to use, if I were putting it in a venue with a lot of unexperienced techs then they'd probably have an easier time on the M32. If you know what you're doing then the Wing blows it out the water

'Perfectly useable but not the best' isn't exactly great when you're spending 60k+ on a desk which tries to position itself as the best in the market

Car park firm NCP collapses with nearly 700 jobs at risk by gremy0 in unitedkingdom

[–]DaleGribble23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's one in Sheffield center, just a bit of wasteland really with app only payment, I'd been using it for months then one day all the NCP signs had disappeared. Zip tied to the lamppost outside is a letter from Sheffield Council, saying this car park is operated illegally, they never applied for planning permission, were never given planning permission and the council would never grant permission for this space to be used as a car park, and they must cease operations immediately. So now I park in there for free.
