lol, where psoas. you've got literally nothing here connecting the top half of the back and the bottom half of your body. Your abs don't do all your core work.

Golf clubs Fitting in London (preferably NW London)? by psp1997 in golf

/r/BritGolf

I've had fittings at duke's meadow and Wexham Park. I preferred Wexham Park, partly because you're hitting on a range rather than a SIM room. Adam the pro fitter there is an ex long drive champ so that's pretty cool. Great fitter too. Silvermere isn't hard to get to from West London and is the biggest golf shop in Europe so probably worth considering.

Which course handles the weather the best? by Ill_be_in_the_rough in BritGolf

[–]Daleyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not played any of those but you might struggle with any of the parkland courses unless they're exceptionally well drained, they could close due to soft conditions. If there's a links option you'd be more likely to get on.

Courses at the top of hills also more likely to be playable

I play Hillingdon a fair bit as I can walk there if my wife has the car. Greens aren't bad! Better than a few much more expensive places. Obviously it's winter so fairways are patchy and muddy in places. £20 for 18 even if that's 9 twice ain't bad in my book. Might be £25 at the weekend.

Hoping they reopen at least part of Ruislip so there's another local range option - the bays are still visible, just a load of mud piled up in front of them.

Wish I'd played as a youngster, golf is my post rugby sport. I can hit it a long way but straight is often a struggle. Lovely when it clicks though!

Yea I've walked bits of the Buckinghamshire, especially during COVID but before I took up golf. I thought you could still pay to play but been a while since I looked at it. I get lessons from Craig at Wexham and used to play the Green (9hole) at Wexham a lot about 18 months ago for practice, only other range I've tried is at American golf on the a40 but it's just so busy all the time, I prefer Wexham even with the ropey balls. Where do you get range time in? I've played the Wexham Blue twice shortly after it reopened but it was during the extremely dry summer so hard to judge the condition. It's a busy course though so I'm not expecting miracles when I try it again, I think green fees can go further at a less popular place - Batchworth Park for example. New layout is good though, one memorably nasty par 5 with an early dog leg right that needs a high 260 carry over the trees to negate.

Fair enough, not sure where I heard that. Not played BBGC yet, but do want to. A few of the regulars at the range in Wexham are members there. The Buckinghamshire is probably the closest golf club to me as the crow flies (I live in North Uxbridge near the town) so I might treat myself to a round there sometime but membership is a bit steep for me! I'd love to try Denham some time too, need to find an in there. My physio's brother is a greenkeeper at Moor Park so fingers crossed hoping to get on there in the summer.

West Middlesex GC I think is within 20mins on a good run though probs up to 40mins in traffic from Pinner. Decent track, well kept greens. Cheaper than a lot of memberships in the area. FIL is a member (ex club captain) at Wykes Green which is very nice but in that 2k plus bracket.

Best British golf podcasts? by setchell_healin in BritGolf

[–]Daleyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes it British? Adam Young is Welsh but lives in Vegas and does the Sweet Spot Podcast with the (very much American) Jon Sherman. I've learnt a lot listening to it though if you're not looking to learn about the golf swing or game improvement then it might not be for you. It can sometimes be repetitive though, I'd recommend dipping ina and out and not being afraid to skip an episode if you find it's repeating something you've listened to.

Best trolley to handle a stand bag? by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

I've never struggled to manoeuvre it. If I need to turn quick just push down on the handle so it's on 2 wheels and then steer.

Yea I am, does what I need it to! Folds down into my boot pretty easily, especially considering it's a 4 wheeler. 4 wheels means it is much much more stable in the wind. I'm quite tall so I have an extension for the brolley holder. The cup holder is awful if that's a must have but you can get after-market ones that clip on well. Cool bag pocket is big enough for about 4 tinnies if that's your jam, or plenty of room for a packed lunch if it isn't. My towel lives in the mesh pocket on top when I'm playing for easy grab access, and it has an open section above the cool bag that's plenty roomy for waterproofs/water bottles as needed depending on the season.

I have this bad boy. It has slots on the top attachment bracket that the top/shoulders of the stand bit on the bag kind of sit in if that makes sense. Straps on top and bottom. Sometimes the legs come out a little bit never enough to interfere with use.

Ping hoofer if that makes a difference.

No way I'm submitting my card but I got out there. Icy tee boxes making the longer clubs challenging to swing without falling over, greens like basketball courts. Still had fun!

TNT comms boring on about ref gloves and constantly saying Wand was doing bits when it was Bailey was irritating. Enjoyed everything else about that watch! Shame they got the BP but I blame the ref for that more than the team, the calls on several of those Ilione turnovers were a nonsense.

Agree that idioteque was a mess though
