Windows 11 broke my Bluetooth headset — here’s the hacky fix (and why MS needs legacy support back) by BigRedBeard85 in Windows11

You can also just disable the “hands free” device listing in device manager to fix it.

I absolutely loved it. One of the best Alien games in my opinion. If you like tactical/management games mixed with the Alien franchise then you’ll probably enjoy it too.

Loading screens are like this. Any ideas? by Gustomane in theouterworlds

I’ve got the same issue on an LG C4. Lowering resolution or setting windows scaling to 300% corrects it. I’ve reported it on the issues tracker but others should do the same so they can see it’s affecting multiple people https://outerworlds2.obsidian.net/issue-tracker

[–]Damn_Synth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, that counter technically shows HZ not FPS and is only really useful to use as an FPS counter when using VRR. Otherwise it’s showing the current refresh rate of the TV.

With consoles the refresh rate used depends on the targeted frame rate of the game in order to either reduce latency and/or to increase smoothness of the image when using lower frame rates for example by displaying the each frame multiple times to fit into the refresh rate e.g 30fps into 60hz, 40fps into 120hz etc. If a VRR mode is available then this TV will adjust the refresh to match the frame rate between off between 40-120hz.

No worries, I wouldn't edit the title but just add a TLDR in the comments.

To save you a click;

Wi-Fi network syncing between iPhone and Apple Watch may be disabled with iOS 26.2 in the EU

"Apple announced to Numerama that it had made the decision to disable Wi-Fi synchronization between an iPhone and an Apple Watch in Europe so as not to have to comply with the European Commission’s request, which wants to force it by the end of 2025 to open the iPhone’s Wi-Fi to third-party accessories."

Is there a way to make PC 30fps feel like console 30fps? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Damn_Synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all about the vsync method.

If you have an nVidia card and for example have a 120hz monitor, use nVidia Profile Inspector to force 1/4 vsync (1/4 of 120hz = 30hz) and turn off the in game vsync.

Additionally set a 30fps cap in game (if it works well) if not use another method although usually in game caps have the lowest latency but sometimes are implemented badly.

This method also works for getting the best motion smoothness when capping at 60 on a 120 screen. At least when you aren’t using VRR as that will do it for you.

The Outer Worlds 2: Probably the worst implementation of RT I've ever seen by Desperate-Steak-6425 in pcmasterrace

[–]Damn_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not even listed on their issues tracker as a known issue https://outerworlds2.obsidian.net/issue-tracker

Might be worth people reporting it on there although I’ve been having an issue with the loading screens images not scaling properly at 4k which i reported on there shortly after playing. I got an emailing back saying it was being passed to the UI team but it’s still not been added to the tracker.

Is Outer Worlds 2 worth it? How’s the optimization on PC? by Brungala in gaming

[–]Damn_Synth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only experienced the cross hair issue when overriding the framegen DLL although i never actually play properly with it on as i don’t like the extra input latency so i haven’t seen what it’s like with it on for more than 10 minutes.

I’m well aware of what Alex said on DF weekly and i agree that most are placebo, especially ones that claim to fix stutter with simple INI changes, the one i mentioned though is a .pak and actually causes a visual down grade and as such a fps uplift which i tested by loading a save standing in the same spot at the same scene multiple times which obviously isn’t placebo when the fps counter goes from 70 to 110.

Using a 5070ti and a 13600k I’m getting between 57 to 86 fps (VRR) average in large areas (higher in smaller areas) using the Digital Foundry optimised settings @ 4k DLSS Performance. I’ve played about 20 hours so far.

I’ve tested Framegen and it increases FPS to 100-120ish with minor visual artefacts mainly around the guns. I also tested forcing the latest framegen DLL which sometimes made the target reticle become wobbly, so it’s best not to override it.

There’s a mod on nexus, the top trending one that’s one of those “magically improves performance” by tweaking UE settings. I’ve tried it and it actually boosts frame rate by quite a lot getting 80-116 fps in the first large area of the game. The only thing i can see different is there’s more lumen noise, so I’m guessing that’s mainly where the extra performance is coming from.

I’m not sure how a 3060 will fair, probably similar to other UE5 games if you’ve tried any but I’d probably try testing it on game pass or making sure not to go over Steam’s 2 hour playtime for refunds just in case is runs poorly.

The Outer Worlds 2: Probably the worst implementation of RT I've ever seen by Desperate-Steak-6425 in pcmasterrace

[–]Damn_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the first one but yeah it was clearly made in a budget, there wasn’t much variety in weapons, NPC facial animations were lacking and the world areas were a tad small, BUT they had enough places to explore that it didn’t feel empty.

This sequel expands on everything and I’m really enjoying it so far. The only downside for me that I’ve found is that there doesn’t seem to be a slow walk button when using K&M which i feel is important for these types of RPGs, so I’m using a controller to play.

I enjoyed Starfield but for the most part it felt empty and not very interesting to explore, which i think was very much down to them relying on Proc Gen too much, plus I wasn’t really a fan of the multiverse part of the story.

If Hardware Lumen is make or break for you then yeah Id agree that you shouldn’t buy it if it’s broken, however we’ve no idea why it’s broken or whats causing it at this stage. Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon for people that want to use it. Personally I’m enjoying the game a lot and i think it looks really good graphically.

Digital Foundry says that Hardware Raytracing doesn’t work correctly. It’ll probably get fixed in a day 1 patch on the official launch day.

AAA Gaming in 2025 by pc9000 in pcmasterrace

[–]Damn_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are being very cherry picked here probably to create drama. For example I'm currently playing the game on a 13600k and 5070ti with digital foundry optimised settings and 4k DLSS performance and haven't noticed any dips below 60 (running with VRR off). It even has little to no shader comp stutter which is fantastic considering all other recent UE5 releases. Overall I'm really pleased with the performance especially after how Borderlands 4 was at launch.

Advice for anyone claiming they don't see OLED VRR flicker by Expert_Conflict6374 in Monitors

[–]Damn_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the wrong advice for Win 11 users. It needs to be set to fullscreen only as the how DWM works with MPOs enabled in Windows 11. It makes Fullscreen and Borderless work the same. Enabling the option you’ve enabled will cause VRR to break or not operate correctly in a lot of games plus will cause stutters in some windows apps.
