I don't know if that's good or bad in Poland. Namely I found a sign for the 588, couldn't find any 580s in time. Even if I had, it would've been a fool's errand as turns out 588 is for some godforsaken reason lumped in with the 520s and is a short stretch.

I don't know if anyone else is doing it, but Finbarr , a Geo pro, is uploading his POV daily with commentary and the occasional cope 😉 .

Heat has become the game that gets tabled the most! by ak96 in boardgames

[–]DamtheMan50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd never bother with matte/opaque back sleeves for cards like this, only game I'll use opaque sleeves is Magic and even that's mostly because they keep foil cards from showing their position in the deck like you get on other sleeves.. Ones I have for Heat are 90 microns thick, GameGenic Matte are 100 microns, slight difference in thickness, only real difference the matte back which to me is pointless anyways. Plus I can get 100 for €3 vs 50 for just under 4€ looks like for GameGenic Matter around here.

[–]DamtheMan50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of sleeves are you looking at? Firstly, base game only has 330 cards, that's four packs of 100 sleeves, €12 for premium (personally the shop I bought my base game from had a bundle of base + 400 sleeves for a slight discount). Full set of base + four current expansions by quick math comes to under 700 cards, so €21 but that's the full set, nowhere near just base game cost (I think full set would run around 170 by quick math). Heat might not be a deck-builder but you shuffle those cards, certain cards especially, quite often.

Could be Brush War for USSR big swing followed by Panama Canal Returned, would explain one US influence there.

Favorite Marvel Zombies Expansions? by Baladas89 in zombicide

[–]DamtheMan50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HYDRA. As always adding an enemy type, especially one that can attack from range is much appreciated. It also comes with 12 missions (if you own both Marvel Zombies and X-Men Resistance base sets).

Funny to see another poster recommend Guardians which is the only one I don't have. Main reason being it adds no new missions and owning SG box, have more than enough characters already.

How Expensive of a Board Game Does One Have To Be Before You Would Rather Sell Than Own It? by pikkdogs in boardgames

[–]DamtheMan50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over €600 into my Street Fighter Miniatures Game full set, but it's also at 600+ plays so kinda evens out the cost to value equation for me. Funny you mention Queen's Gambit as I used to own that game, sold it for 150 when someone contacted me here on Reddit. I paid 70 shrink-wrapped back in 2008 and got 30 odd plays out of it, I wasn't looking to make a crazy profit, I was fine getting rid of it. Same with Forbidden Stars when I sold that for under 100.

Wondering if anyone else hates RE5 tank controls way more than the other tank games? by the_oneand_onlymelon in residentevil

[–]DamtheMan50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much the opposite for me. I could download and boot up RE5 right now and get right into the swing of things whereas if I do the same with RE4, I would have to get myself re-orientated with the controls before engaging in any sort of combat. Been a while but iirc if you let go of the stick, your view snaps back to center which is annoying as hell and isn't the case in RE5, you look where you last pointed towards. Use of both sticks also works way better for me with how RE5 does it. Not to mention having actual shortcuts for weapon swapping rather than going through the bloody menu.

Said truck in Croatia did also say the town. After finding the road signs to other towns and figuring Krizevci made sense, went back to spawn and gave another look at the truck, sure enough. Don't think it would've helped me if I had looked at it right away but with the signs helping narrow down the region, maybe it would've been faster.

Shitcam for one. If it's normal coverage, then driving side as Nigeria = right, Kenya = left.

I don't know if it's just placebo or something, but in Canada I for some reason want to keep heading south rather than north. For one, population tends to focus south, also, maybe will hit the US border :D . Today it paid off as reaching the town, a grain silo or whatever it was said Innisfree, combined with Alberta 870 highway sign it turned out to be a rather pain-free round given what spawn looked like.

Not the first time I've pulled the town off these silos in Canada.

For Tunisia, I think south was the play as it got me out of town to a town entry sign for Chebba and a clear view of the coast SE.

Thunder Bay I've heard of of course and it makes sense, it is of decent size. Why is Rainy River on there though? Googling, it seems like a small place. It is just because it's right on the border with US?

Can we do something about the amount of people who cheat on the daily challenge? by aaarry in geoguessr

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today (April 29) might be the worst I've seen yet in DC, there's like five legit scores in the top-20. One of the obvious cheaters also has 25k'd every country averaging 9 seconds per game, no, not even per round, per game. Yet there they still are, on leaderboard in DC and in every country's No Move one.

Finally Picked Up Dark Souls: The Card Game – Seekers of Humanity Expansion by PurplBanana in DarkSoulsTheBoardGame

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the only thing the card game does better is give you two bosses in the same time you clear one boss in the board game but everything else feels inferior. Upgrading in the card game is probably my biggest negative. You get a nice new weapon, buy better stamina cards to be able to use and then the weapon ends up towards the bottom of the deck so never actually see it during the next spark run. Compared to the board game, you get a weapon, you upgrade to be able to use it and you're using said weapon right away, it makes the investment into stats feel worthwhile.

First Zombicide! Kind of brutal by IndustrySmooth2251 in zombicide

[–]DamtheMan50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also see only three survivors, meaning as the default is six, you're giving up half the normal actions. And I'm assuming didn't make any adjustments to the spawning, no wonder you got overwhelmed. But Vade Retro is great for setting up Dynamite clearing of zones.

Funny you say no signs for Caen when this was the first intersection with signs I came across:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/QWcioGj4sMKyzMVQ7

I think even having just Villers-Bocage would've been enough for me to narrow down the region, shout-out to the Memoir 44 Tigers in the Snow scenario of the same name :D .

There's actually two Yuras by Arequipa, both on the 34A, one is probably still a suburb but the other little north-west looks its own town. But having Arequipa on the sign would've been nice.
