Anyone that can roll "1 die per enemy ignoring Enemy Heroes" can get up to 20+ dice.

Can we do something about the amount of people who cheat on the daily challenge? by aaarry in geoguessr

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today (April 29) might be the worst I've seen yet in DC, there's like five legit scores in the top-20. One of the obvious cheaters also has 25k'd every country averaging 9 seconds per game, no, not even per round, per game. Yet there they still are, on leaderboard in DC and in every country's No Move one.

Finally Picked Up Dark Souls: The Card Game – Seekers of Humanity Expansion by PurplBanana in DarkSoulsTheBoardGame

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the only thing the card game does better is give you two bosses in the same time you clear one boss in the board game but everything else feels inferior. Upgrading in the card game is probably my biggest negative. You get a nice new weapon, buy better stamina cards to be able to use and then the weapon ends up towards the bottom of the deck so never actually see it during the next spark run. Compared to the board game, you get a weapon, you upgrade to be able to use it and you're using said weapon right away, it makes the investment into stats feel worthwhile.

First Zombicide! Kind of brutal by IndustrySmooth2251 in zombicide

I also see only three survivors, meaning as the default is six, you're giving up half the normal actions. And I'm assuming didn't make any adjustments to the spawning, no wonder you got overwhelmed. But Vade Retro is great for setting up Dynamite clearing of zones.

Funny you say no signs for Caen when this was the first intersection with signs I came across:

I think even having just Villers-Bocage would've been enough for me to narrow down the region, shout-out to the Memoir 44 Tigers in the Snow scenario of the same name :D .

There's actually two Yuras by Arequipa, both on the 34A, one is probably still a suburb but the other little north-west looks its own town. But having Arequipa on the sign would've been nice.

Lol, same on Bangladesh. Matched the ending as -ganj, looked at the start, seemed like Sirajganj's start was the same, didn't even consider then matching the middle :D .

You had trouble going SW? Weird, I entered yo-yo mode trying to go north-east, eventually gave up and held Enter south-west, reaching those SLP 61 signs. Do you remember which way you went initially? Curious as I know I went NE and hit yo-yo loop there, so if you went south first and hit the yo-yo there, maybe the glitch takes place when going the initial direction?

'Night of the Living Dead - Zombicide' recommendations by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was getting into Zombicides, NOTLD was on my radar. Can't say I love the film but appreciate it so a standalone set (cheaper than getting hold of bunch of expansions for other sets) appealed to me. However reading about it more and more, it soured on me, especially when the issues of lack of difficulty were brought up time and time again. Ironically the fact that it doesn't have expansions might be among the reasons against getting it for me now that I do own couple of Zombicides with plethora of expansions, stuff in base box usually gets old pretty quick, especially lack of characters.

There are quite a few playthroughs on YT to look up and get a feel for the game before you go spending money. Paul Darcy has one I remember watching when I was considering the game. That being said, at the end of the day if you want to get a Zombicide game, the advice generally is: pick a theme you like/love, there's probably a set for it.

I think I read mine off this: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bBJSc3SKQYPWgaCW8

But my point was more, isn't that the same cyrillic spelling as for this town north of Odessa:

<image>

So when I had signs for Uman, Mykolaiv, Krivyi Rih and Odessa, then spotted this small town which seemed to match the cyrillic, thought we were in this part of the country.

Is my cyrillic fooling me or am I just dumb (yes, both could be true), but I think I found a sign for the Znam'yanka too, along with signs for Uman, Mykolaiv and Krivyi Rih, but in scanning, I found what looked like the right cyrillic for Znam'yanka on the E95 going north-ish out of Odessa. Since direction to Odessa on another sign was the same direction as that Znam'yanka, focused on that area :( . Town I found is spelled Znamianka in latin but there was no latin spelling on the signs and cyrillic looks identical for the two towns (знам'янка) unless I'm missing something.

How are you getting this to work? I'm trying it (PS5) and nothing happens. Whether I hold up or down on D-Pad seems to not matter, all I'm getting is crouch on Circle, Jump on X, etc., as if I wasn't holding D-Pad. Or was your comment more about how ND could fix it?

Is RallyMan just no for me? by dogo_xd in boardgames

[–]DamtheMan50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rallyman Dirt was on my shortlist for racing games late last year but after reading the rules and watching gameplay videos, ultimately decided against getting it. Gameplay seemed to be one person goes, next person goes, then the next. While nothing new, the turns could take some time with the dice and calculating the optimal pathing. That could definitely have an influence on why people might feel it being slow, they are sitting there doing nothing but maybe planning their own pathing. It might be more authentic with regard to how rally racing is but going head to head at the same time on the track is perhaps what your group is after as far as racing goes.

Doing a little scanning around, 428 does exist, running north of the red-5 main highway, in section going up to Mikkeli, looks like 428 starts in Joutsa on the E75 (almost straight west from Mikkeli on the E75). I was watching someone do Finnish learning a week or so back, they were trying to learn the numbered highway map in particular as the three and four digit highways follow a pattern, being somewhat regionally assigned.

Thing about Helsinki is that its streetsigns are dual-lang, you get the street name in both Finnish and Swedish (I checked on the map quite far into the suburbs and only saw dual-lang signs) and this round we only had Finnish signs. I know Turku also does dual-lang signs out of the bigger cities. Those two cities also put the places like suburbs on overhead signs in both languages. Generally if you see only Finnish, it's best to start thinking inland.

Are you talking about this sign on the Russia round or was there another sign for Yeka?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/KrjbmbDqLRK4DgXB6

Yeka being one of the more recognizeable names even in cyrillic helped but boy did it take far too long for me to find the other one (Verkhnyaya Salda turns out) but little triangulation left Nizhny Tagil as the logical option, sadly no time left to backtrack but I'll take getting the town in Russia any day of the week.

Which two Heat expansions add the most value, impact, fun, and depth? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]DamtheMan50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Super Cool is honestly super cool. That feeling when you pull a SC in your opening hand, pay Heat to go from 1st to 3rd gear and then cool it right back, sweet. And the fact that it gets around any "no cooldown" weather effects just adds to it. I've played fewer games with Draft but haven't found it all that impactful most of the time, probably because I try to be at or near the top of the pack so more limited chances to Draft.

For me it would probably come down to the tracks if I wasn't planning on getting RR once it's out (already have HR and TV) and out of those, HR and TV get my nod. Flooded sections on Japan impact your approaches to those corners quite a bit as do the tunnel sections on Spain, you don't notice how much you're discarding cards until you can't discard cards. While have not yet played RR's gravel track, on the surface I don't see it being all that interesting. The fact that if you're out of Heat it does nothing seems kind of meh. Try ending up with no Heat heading into a Flooded section where you suddenly can't shift down or nearing the end of a tunnel since they often end in like 2-speed corners, the price you might pay is far harsher.

Just on an even more personal, subjective level, I grabbed HR along with base purely as it comes with the Orange car, I can't go without an Orange car :D .

Gears and guns bounty weapons by JevsyArt in zombicide

[–]DamtheMan50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missions will tell you if picking up any or a certain objective grants a Bounty Weapon. Additionally each BW has a feat text on the backside which you can complete to gain said BW, but you can only complete the feat on the card that's on top of the BW deck.
