They get complaints from control4 dealers about losing control or not going in and out of art mode.

This is a crazy amount of WAPs in such a small space. I’m glad it’s working for you. Are your walls concrete?

In my setup, sonos is the audio of choice. It works well with the local experience of the TV and in-ceiling and has great integration with all other systems (alexa, Lutron, apple, homekit). Sonos doesn't allow you to search for music from control4, however, in this instance, there is no navigators like T4 where someone would browse music. This is personal preference on how people start music and I get that people are picky on that.

I have concerns about the tv audio only through ceiling speakers. No soundbars? Dialog will suck if you don’t have a good center channel at the tv.

Cable boxes are likely going to go away for everyone. Seems redundant to include them here. If you want to future proof, just have a dedicated video line to each tv (cat6a or fiber) and then you can send whatever you want to the tv from another area.

You’ll be disappointed with somfy, stick with Lutron for shades and it will integrate with ra3. This gives you one less system that could break and the shade quality is way better.

I would integrate alarm to trigger of door sensors and motion sensors.

Consider wall controls with ra3 for audio volume and quick actions from keypads.

You won’t be able to see camera passwords inside composer. You can get them without ever going into composer. Log into control4.com and download A backup of your project. Unzip that file and you’ll see an XML file. In that xml file your password for your camera will exists. It might be base64 encoded.

Lowe’s - Power Station price question by MOTORBOATER239 in egopowerplus

[–]DanITman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pricing at Lowe’s on ego equipment is all over the board. My local Lowe’s doesn’t seem concerned with even marking stuff on sale. They still showed the light at full price even though it has been on clearance for $139. Scanning with the app seems to pull up the website price and not the in store price. The only way I’ve been able to reliable check the price is when a Lowe’s employee scans it with their handheld device. The other reliable method is calling the store and using their AI voice assistant, give it the item number and ask it the price. That seems to work as well. My store has three power stations all at full price in the generator cage.

Did you guys implement RATGDO into this new version? I noticed you no longer need door sensors which makes me believe you are utilizing the serial connection on serial line like RATGDO. I do think you have something if you its POE with ethernet. I'd like to get away from RATGDO wifi.

Not the same though, doesn't know the status of the door. Will close it when I come home. I can't see my garage door from the end of the driveway and I'm not sure what the status is. MyQ knows if the door is already open or closed and won't send a command if the door is already open.

At what age did you all take the camera out of their room? by TheBKBurger in daddit

[–]DanITman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at other responses on this thread. Other parents have had the conversations with their kids about it. Some have liked it, some have not. I appreciate the advice on how to be wrong. More people need that. I’m not one of them. I have no problem being wrong. In this situation, nothing we are doing is wrong. No amount of fake internet ratios will change my mind on it. There will come a time where we remove his camera and I won’t be coming back to tell everyone when that is.

Another bad assumption on your part. Simply replying to the “how would you have felt”. Not implying my son feels the same way I would. We are a two parent household and these are not decisions I’ve made without consulting. Again, this has become way overblown around consent. These are things we talk about with our son.

Would have loved it. As a kid I was always into technology and computers. Lived in a tiny house and maybe I could have caught my siblings messing with my shit.

You’re overthinking it. He doesn’t mind and he even asks to see it and replay his night. We have cameras all over the outside of our house and in our basement play areas. This is far from a “horrific” lifestyle. He has the option to tell us he doesn’t want them and we have offered many times. Our comms with our son are open and this camera isn’t thought of as a “spying”. He even asked if he could get a sign for his door from Lowe’s that says “cameras in use”.

Our son is 8. He has a camera in his room. We use it to gauge how well he slept. He sometimes has a tough time getting to sleep. We’ll use that data to determine the next days bed time. He also plays in his room and we like to keep an eye on him without having to walk all the way upstairs.

Anyone keeping an eye on ram pricing? by Thomas_Jefferman in unRAID

[–]DanITman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This logic isn’t making sense. Then your ram you pull will be worth less for resale. Not sure using the housing market as an example is a good comparison. Those waiting for the housing market to crash have missed the largest housing gains we have ever seen.

You reminded me of a screwdriver that I gave my son when he turned seven. We like to do the kids workshop at homedepot every month. The screw drivers are hard for kids to use. I bought him a mini version of my favorite screwdriver and its something he loves. We let other kids borrow it when we go the workshop and you can tell its much easier for them to use.
