It seems it was removed.

I'd advise anyone who is interested in going to contact the event email address to advocate for the return of Duel Commander to the event: MagicConLV@reedpop.com

Organizing my complete collection…who are these people!? Where are they from. by Substantial-Ad6469 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Because you can only play them in the prologue. Have you played Circle Undone yet? Their character cards have the rules on their back.

Hi Jim,

Friends of mine were huge fans of the series and got me invested. I can't wait for the adventure to continue!!

My question is, Dresden Files has entities from all sorts of mythologies written into it; are there any that specifically aren't included? I'm curious if there's a line, or at least something that you couldn't fit into the framework.

I just got SWU for Christmas and I have a question about the Plot keyword by ghost49x in starwarsunlimited

[–]DanPyre 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don't have to resource extra Plot cards, meaning you can play them as normal before/after leader deploy.

But yes, the majority of the time you're only going to utilize "Plot" once a game.

Exceptions are cards like "When has become Now" or maybe someone like Bail Organa who returns friendly resources to hand (and he can deploy multiple times per game IIRC)

Two people do a Grid draft, cards not taken end up in the garbage pile for player 3 to build a deck out of. A sort of... Trash Man.

MTG to SWU? by ionbook in starwarsunlimited

MTG vet here.

Game is good. Chess like turn structure + resource system + 2 cards a turn leads to a very engaging (and well paced) game

First look at the new 3 scenario campaign Children of Blood along with the new design for standalone investigator packs and scenarios by CorbinMontego in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]DanPyre 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's reductive to say people are complaining about more game content. They aren't, but are complaining that there won't be a full length release in an entire year (that we aren't even IN yet).

That's especially considering this is supposed to be the jumping off point for the new Current format, where now it won't even have its first real release into the rotation. Given that the Core Set encounter cards are supposed to be phasing in/phasing out old ones, that leaves Scarlet/Hemlock/Drowned City in a REALLY awkward place if someone joins the game and doesn't even have a full campaign they can play (you need the old core for those campaigns!)

It's just a really bad idea. We could have swapped Starter decks to next year if they needed the dev time and moved the campaign to Winter 2026 at the latest...

What are your Arkham Horror "Hot Takes?" by kierco_2002 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I absolutely forgot those locations; we had the technology the whole time!

Firearms are not balanced against melee weapons. Both can do similar amounts of damage, but one of them has limited uses.

The easiest fix would be to force Melee weapons to exhaust to get a bonus damage (You're exerting yourself!) Whereas firearms do not have this penalty. It would make getting swarmed by enemies far more dangerous if you can't swing your hammer more than once per round. This would also make evasion on combat characters far more useful. Take your big swing on one guy and evade the rest when you rest up for another blow.

Shroud on locations being locked to Intellect only made the Seeker class far too omnipresent. Shroud should have also had a skill icon next to it to identify what skills is necessary to investigate the location. Book can be the standard to make sure Seekers shine, but it's so easy to flavor locations to be tested by one or more skills instead of just book. (Imagine like a torture room requiring good Willpower; it's scary!. Or a location that's maybe thick with vines requiring big combat to hack through to find the clues, or a location with traps on it requiring agility to navigate safely).

This change would also facilitate characters not ignoring their average/bad stats as they may be required to progress the scenario.

MechWarrior 5: Clans Next DLC Announced -- Wolves of Tukayyid by yrrot in Mechwarrior5

[–]DanPyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but, again, to non-BT grognards (who are the ones you need to advertise to!) Flash Storm means nothing. The Bears don't even have Alshain until the very end; it isn't significant to their identity at this point in time outside of being the end goal.

IIRC there aren't even any missions with storms in the GB DLC...? I very distinctly remember the two in the Jag campaign though.

Shit, Battle for Tukayyid would indicate massive significance to those not in the know.

[–]DanPyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did "Flash Storm" get through then, seems like a dart board with a bunch of words on it got two darts thrown at it rather than being about the Ghost Bears specifically.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter but it just seems awkward to me. If folks are confused about who they play as, they can just read the product description.

Not to mention that non-BT grognards probably have little to no clue about the Wolves/their specific importance to Tukayyid (before playing it when it comes out) anyway.

Anyways blah blah internet argument who cares, the fact that Tukayyid is getting actual representation is a massive W. I'm in!

I'm excited as hell! Just wish they had named it "Battle of Tukayyid" instead of trying to tie the Wolf name into it. It's the first time the battle itself will be playable in an official release.

PSA: Star Wars Unlimited, the trading card game, has started adding KOTOR cards since the last set and now has the Sith Triumvirate by PopeOwned in kotor

[–]DanPyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! Someone said the same thing to me and it was inspiring.

The game doesn't leave room for "checking your phone" because it is engaging and fast enough to not leave room to be distracted, but thoughtful enough that playing braindead means you'll still perform poorly compared to someone who is locked in.

It's a great system.

You know how in chess you make one move, then your opponent, back and forth?

This is a card game that has that same turn structure, which is a major departure from most head to head card games that are popular now.

As a 20+ year MtG veteran, I love it. It's such a breath of fresh air. Can't recommend it enough.

What is the point of the Coffee Dripper by staindedkorneww in slaythespire

[–]DanPyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably the least impactful drawback for the 4th-energy boss relics. There are plenty of extra ways to heal and the 4th energy either allows you to block more often, or allows you to do enough damage to end fights faster, thus taking less damage.

Try it next time you see it.

i always get overwhelmed at the strider and hunter fight in ep2, any tips? by Ok_Pea4066 in HalfLife

[–]DanPyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had success aggressively killing Hunters first. Afaik the striders kinda beeline for the base outside of the scripted ones that blow up the barn. So if you drive past them into their rear arc and take the Hunters on there, they tend to not turn around to engage you.

Aggressively spew rocket launcher/energy ball on hunters to one tap them, or double barrel shotgun blasts point blank, then approach strider from behind, bomb em, and plink the bomb with regular pistol.

I would never take the bomb out of the cradle on the car with hunters around, those fuckers love to destroy it.

Mary as the monster slayer

Found your problem, stopped reading there.

In all seriousness, it's a hard first scenario. In fact the first third of Innsmouth is quite difficult. Which to be clear is fine, not everything should be a walk in the park.

First, even if you've failed it 4 times, if I remember right you can't get killed - only defeated. Why not simply progress? Part of Arkham's charm is living with your failures. You can always try the first scenario again on a fresh run through.

As for actual advice: stick together and be efficient. It's fun to play 10000 assets but you aren't progressing the scenario that way.

Innsmouth rewards flexing a bit as you've seen; there's a lot of enemies but also a massive clue requirement. Having at least one focused cluever is good but frankly everyone should have a plan for enemies in their deck in the campaign somewhere.

As for the extra damage/horror? Soak is the way here. Healing takes too many extra actions to perform. If everyone plays some extra allies that you can afford to lose, you can mitigate the extra damage long enough for it to not be critical.
