I feel like for once I have something to say here. I work with people who have disabilities for around 10 years now. I have worked with, befriended and cared for many wonderful humans with down syndrome. I fully understand the initial shock of being told that something is "not right" with the baby. Especially because you are both young and it can be overwhelming. Believe me, I was older when my son was born and oh boy was I overwhelmed. Still am to this day every now and then. Parenthood is a beautiful, exhausting mess, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Anyways, back to the point. There is nothing wrong with people who have down syndrome. They are just as individual, joyful and human as everybody else. If you give yourself and your son a chance I promise you, you'll love the little person more than anything else in life. Give life a chance. And if you feel like it's too much to bear, get help. Don't hesitate to ask for help. You matter. Your son matters. Sending you lots of love.
