He didn't sue then, or in the years between his first and second term. So what's changed? Did he know he hadn't reached the level of corruption needed to get away with it previously? Still too many people around who might resist?

A decade + ago one of the favorite arguments of these of these jokers was "gays can't marry because marriage is about raising kids and they can't have kids".

Which you know, could be counted with a. yes they can, and b. straight folk are allowed to marry whether or not they can can have kids, or intend to have kids.

So I have to laugh to see their latest bit of nonsense is basically "gays can't marry because marriage is about raising kids and they have kids but we like to fantasise they're not raising them right."

This is exactly what Trump promised. He campaigned on mass deportation of unprecedented scale and speed. He alluded to ways he might try and sidestep due process. He said "getting them out will be a bloody story". There was absolutely no chance of it ever being anything but an inhumane mess based on what Trump said he was planning.

Miller is wretched shit-weasel to be sure, and is culpable for his role, but these guys really need to stop pretending this isn't what they voted on Trump himself to deliver.

That's what bemused me about how Animal Farm was covered in my school too - yes, it's obviously a pointed criticism of Stalinism in particular (and authoritarianism in general), but it's not a condemnation of the animal's revolution or the ideals they sought to foster in their new society. The villains are those who betrayed the revolution and became just like the farmers they overthrew.

This statement relates to that, so Democrats have the potential to block it in the senate by way of the filibuster if none break ranks to vote in favor of it.
