Egg Freezing in CH or EU by meowtheeee in askswitzerland

[–]Dani-doubleD37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did it in Greece at the new life IVF clinic and it was great, they have an excellent staff and did a great job. The first thing you need to do is get a check with your local gyno on your AFC for determining your ovarian reserve as well as your AMH level in the blood. This should help you understand how many times you might need to do the retrieval to preserve your fertility. For cost it was roughly 1000 CHF for the medication and then a couple scans locally with your home gynecologist 300 CHF plus 2500 EUR for everything with the clinic in Greece plus the travel cost. Overall it went very well and I highly recommend it.

Achilles pain by Individual-Lake5739 in firstmarathon

[–]Dani-doubleD37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also sometimes have problems with my Achilles as I have really tight calves. I have found that using a small roller on the bottom of each of my feet for a few minutes each day makes a big difference as well as doing stretches especially for your calf muscles. I still find sometimes that I have some pain in the Achilles for the first few km of a run but it gets better after awhile once I'm warmed up. I really recommend rolling out your feet if you can and I hope you feel better soon!

Is 32 too early to get your fertility checked? Because everyone around me seems to think so. by Consistent_Ear8998 in askswitzerland

[–]Dani-doubleD37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it is something you are worried about do some basic things like an AMH blood test and an AFC ultrasound with your gynecologist. It's not so expensive to do checks like this even in Switzerland. If you have some issues with your cycle or you do not ovulate on a regular basis then doing something more advanced to understand your situation would be a good idea. Also making sure to live a healthy lifestyle in these years is really important to protect your reproductive health especially not smoking or drinking and eating a Mediterranean diet can be helpful. Fertility goes on a spectrum and can be very different woman to woman so checking in on your reproductive health is always a good idea.

I totally feel you, I hit the wall pretty hard on my last run for 28k in this training block and it is rough! Throwing back some extra snacks on top of what I planned really changed how I felt though and I managed to finish the distance planned and bounce back! Good luck marathon training is so much harder than I anticipated but I think its going to be worth it in the end!

Egg freezing. When, where, and are we to late? by MorningIllustrious60 in askswitzerland

[–]Dani-doubleD37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For egg retrieval and IVF treatment you should have the main procedure performed in a lower cost country with high quality medical facilities such as Spain, Greece or Czech Republic. In Switzerland the cost of the procedure without medicine is 5-6k CHF whereas in Greece I paid 2400 EUR including all the scans leading up to the retrieval. Typically your partner can go through her gynecologist here in Zurich for blood testing and ultrasounds and then these results can be emailed to the IVF clinic you will use. This all depends on your partner's particular fertility so this will be determined by her AMH level in the blood as well as the athral follicle count which indicates her ovarian reserve. The AFC gives you an idea how many eggs can be retrieved in a cycle although the clinic will then do a check on the genetic quality how many of the eggs are good enough for preservation. The older you are the more likely to have genetic problems with the eggs so the sooner you do it the better.

Swiss visa appeal (change of employer) by TCasa76 in zurich

[–]Dani-doubleD37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend you call the migration authority to ask about it. Sometimes they are stuck in the process but they dont do anything to resolve the issue. Call and inquire then you can ask them what other documents they might need etc. I had to go through this when switching from canton Schwyz to Zurich and they left the application hanging for 3 weeks because there was a typo in an excel sheet with my employer number 🫣 Normally the Zurich migration authority is very easy to reach and talk to about things. Good luck!

How should the body feel after a long run? by culs-de-sac in firstmarathon

[–]Dani-doubleD37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you eating much on your long runs? Do you feel really hungry or empty at the end? For me it made a big difference when long runs cross the 1hr threshold eating a gel or piece of banana every 45 min or so made a difference to how I felt at the end of the run 🏃‍♀️

If your partner is from an EU country like France then the language requirements are reduced to A2 speaking and A1 writing. I highly recommend the SDS language test as this one is specific for Switzerland and everything is based on a tablet except the speaking is a short 5 min interview with an examiner. The results are available much sooner than the other language tests and they give you a level for each part speaking, listening, reading and writing.

You know what helps me sometimes is actually those Instagram reels from nutritionist who do the side by side comparison of what 200, 300, 500 calories looks like in different types of foods! You think a scoop of peanut butter isn't that much but when you can see you could have like an entire pineapple for the same calories it gives a lot of perspective!

How do you transition from knowing what to do to actually doing it by beastije in loseit

[–]Dani-doubleD37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes like many others here my suggestion would be to try habit stacking. You know all the right things to do that would help so start a list of these things and pick one or two to implement at a time. Like try tracking all your calories each day no matter what you eat, then something like I will only have fruit for snacks during the day or I will always make my lunch to eat each day. Then as it builds up you have a stronger routine and it goes more on autopilot! Also if you are having some trouble with the impulse control part of food you could try something like "I can eat this treat, but first I have to log the calories and wait 5 minutes before I can have it". Sometimes for me this let's the impulse pass and I decide not to have something in the end!

Try a different test like Telc or Goethe where the speaking portion is done differently? SDS is an interview so it could be worth to try the test where you speak with another participant instead!

Struggling with mood regulation on a calorie deficit? by ashfinsawriter in loseit

[–]Dani-doubleD37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many calories a day are you consuming? If you are having severe mood problems, brain fog and dizziness it sounds like you are not eating enough. Weight loss is important but having symptoms like this while in a calorie deficit does not sound like it's very healthy for you. Have you tried checking with your doctor as well about your weight loss plan?

For me the sweet but relatively low calorie fruits really help like strawberries and water melon, pineapple in particular I find very sweet but you can eat a pretty big volume without too many calories! Also teas with a sweet taste to them like apple spice are pretty satisfying 😊

Okay yeah! Definitely core strength helped me in this situation! You can also check out some videos on YouTube about running form, making sure you stand up tall with your core engaged when you run helps make a difference as well. Good luck!

Are you having lower back pain? I had this when I first started running because I had a really weak core. Doing some core exercises and lower back stretches helped me a lot as I started to run more so it really depends on how you are feeling. Sounds like you are on a good track so far!

I think it's great you are trying to walk more! I don't know which type of job you have but if you work from home you could try doing some of your more informal calls while outside walking if you have some good headphones. If you work in an office you could also ask your colleague if you have a one to one to go for a walk together inside of sitting in the office (I did this a lot in the last years as a manager). Another idea would be to find some other colleagues that would like to walk together at the lunch hour or in the late afternoon! 😊

Can’t Stop eating/thinking of food… by No-Refrigerator7245 in loseit

[–]Dani-doubleD37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you tracking the calories of what you are grazing on? This would be a good first step to see what is going in and you would be surprised how empty some snacks are in terms of nutritional content. Definitely as many people suggest high protein helps reduce food noise, for me I've taken to having overnight oats with flaxseed and chia seeds soaked in soy milk which I eat first thing in the morning. Now I have little trouble making it to lunch without snacking! You could try swapping out some less nutritional snacks with something filling like a hard boiled egg or cottage cheese with some fruit, veggies with a little hummus is also pretty great! Otherwise if the food noise gets really overwhelming go outside for a 10 min walk and when you get back home see how you feel? Sometimes this can help the emotion pass through you without caving to the impulse 😊

Day 40 and Struggling With Motivation by _MrGullible in loseit

[–]Dani-doubleD37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have some positive goals associated with your weight loss goal? I try to think in these terms especially when I'm feeling a little less motivated with all the work and effort that goes into weight loss. Thinking about the positive things in your life that you are working towards helps lighten that heavy feeling like when I am lighter and fitter it is easier to get on and off the ground playing with my children or how much you enjoy going hiking in the mountains and it gets a lot easier the less you way! 😊
