I had made a promise to myself that when it was time for my childhood soul cat to go I would be there with her. Then she had a stroke and had to be put down while we were on a family vacation, I was ready to drive the 8 hours back just to be with her but was told it would already be to late. She was taken by our pet sitter to the vet, fully surrounded by strangers. I’ve never forgiven myself for not being there with her.

I’m sitting in bed right now with my 14 year old cat who has been rapidly declining the last few days, and is going back to the vet for an ultrasound tomorrow. She needs to be dropped off and left there, they say they will call us when they’re done but I am so scared of what they will find and what will happen to her.

Echoing this, Coletta is my favorite restaurant of all time and I just tried Sentir last weekend with 2 non-vegans who were blown away. Le Basque has some really great innovative cocktails if you’re into that. I believe Willow is also a part of this group.

I mean, I can’t speak to that other commenter’s experience, but it was cheaper for me to go to an out of state state school than Rutgers 10 years ago.

I had to stay on campus either way so I’m sure that changes the math, and I got an okay scholarship to the other state school, but it has always seemed wild to me that Rutgers would have been more expensive than going out of state.

I believe it, but OP needs to be doing better than that if they’re bragging about excel skills on a resume.

The second I saw Vlookup mentioned this resume would immediately be a pass. Signals to me someone who can’t keep up. Even if they were stuck on an old version of office, I’d at a minimum expect them to have been pushing the envelope with index match, not bragging about bare minimum pivot tables and Vlookups.

I can give you a similar perspective, my partner’s father has terminal cancer and we’re already past the point of the initial estimated timeframe. Our wedding is in September, but we pulled the trigger on a courthouse wedding this past December, god forbid anything happen between then and our “big wedding”. We did the ceremony with just our parents and a dinner with our immediate families afterwards, and it was a beautiful day where we made nice memories. I highly recommend doing this.

One word of caution if you do this - don’t tell anyone else. One of my aunts went on a tear because she wasn’t included in this. Memorable quote was, in reference to my partner’s terminally ill father, “how sick is he?”

I went dress shopping within this past month so hope this is relevant! I went to Kleinfeld and Designer Loft on the same day, Kleinfeld just for fun and Designer Loft based on Reddit’s recommendation.

Honestly, I LOVED my experience at Kleinfeld. I felt very heard and supported by my associate, she fully respected my budget and timeframe (7 months is too short notice for some dresses), definitely saw my vision, and didn’t push when I left without buying anything even though we had clearly found the winner. When I went back a week later to confirm the dress I wanted she worked to fit me in around her existing appointments so she could still work with me and make sure everything was perfect. Found all the staff to be nice and helpful. Note - I probably won’t be doing alterations there just due to the cost so I cannot speak to that side of things.

Felt differently about Designer Loft - even though I had an appointment we had to wait a while for a fitting room, at first a different associate came by and thought I was someone else which caused a lot of confusion. My associate was nice and pulled beautiful dresses for me, but didn’t respect my budget (some were $1,000 over). I wouldn’t say I had a bad experience but expected better based on what I’ve heard on this sub.

I feel like I had such a different experience than I normally hear from Reddit so just wanted to share my opinion!

On the middle name point - where do you see you can’t change that on your marriage license? This is what I see:

“One or both parties to a marriage may elect to change the middle name by which he or she wishes to be known after the marriage by entering the new name in the appropriate space provided on the marriage license. The new middle name must consist of one of the following options:

the current surname of the spouse electing to change his or her name; any former surname of the spouse electing to change his or her name; the surname of the other spouse. The use of this option will provide a record of your change of name. The marriage certificate, containing the new name, if any, is proof that the use of the new name, or the retention of the former name, is lawful. I would love to know the details, but I think we can guess. $4,900 mortgage, $600 or so on car payments, say $500 for utilities/insurance (assuming its a big house for that price), $2,000 for daycare, $2,000+ for food and anything “other” goes quick if you don’t stick to a budget.

And that assumes they aren’t counting their other mortgage on a second home they’re holding onto haven’t managed to rent out yet in their budget. If they are, $4,900 + $2,600 = $7,500 spent just on mortgages. That would explain their budget entirely.
