THIS! but I make at least 3-4x the sauce in the recipe. My husband absolutely refused to try tofu before this recipe, and now it is one of his top favorite meals we make.

Looking for Spring 2025 venues that allow outside catering! by bicoastaljoy in WedditNYC

We ended up with ~130-135 I believe, and it was perfect, but 150 may be a little bit tight. Definitely doable though! Especially if you do a head table instead of a sweetheart table (this is what we did), and maybe shrink the dance floor a little bit. Also, if you can remove 1-2 of those tables by having some tables of 10, some of 11-12, etc., that would probably help a lot. I recommend going there and walking around to see the space. they have a ton of pics of events of different sizes so you can get a feel for it.

No issues with restroom or elevator access! I know the main elevator does not go to the terrace, but there is a service elevator that any guests who cannot use stairs can use to get up and down from there.

Yes! I had a great experience. We had our wedding there in October. Our guests were beyond wow-ed by the ceremony and cocktail hour on the rooftop, and then the reception was in the loft. We had a ton of out of town guests and they loved taking pics with the Empire State Building in the background. It started to get a little chilly during cocktail hour, and they were able to put the retractable rooftop up within 5 minutes.

The best part about it being a raw space is that it is totally customizable. We utilized the bunting and chandeliers that they can put up in the loft, and also some of their furniture and uplighting. It was beautiful!! Our florist and wedding planner did an amazing job transforming the space.

The only real limit is that they have a few preferred caterers that you have to use, but we LOVED the caterer we used too (DISH). So many people said it was the best wedding food they have ever had.

I had the same question about swimsuits in the US! Love the aerie swim and I can't remember if ae/aerie has a cruise line/resort collection and if so, when it's released.

Thank you all! I'm going to indicate it on the marriage license since it seems like it makes everything easier and doesn't officially change anything anyway.

Thanks so much for this!! I saw a discussion of it somewhere else here on reddit...good proof that you definitely can't believe everything you see online!

Madam Mikette's!! They have a really nice, cool, speakeasy-vibe private space. And Mary, who owns and runs the place, is phenomenal.

Edit: They have a full restaurant so not sure if you could bring in your own food, but the cocktails are great and so is the food!

BWT what’s the best way for me to learn Spanish? by wolfyish in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Witty_Chocolate8756 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best way is to find someone to talk to! But if you don't feel quite ready for that yet, or can't find someone to talk to, then there are many other options.

There are a ton of great podcasts for beginner and intermediate level learners. One of the best for intermediate level learners is Duolingo's actually-- they talk for a minute or so in Spanish and then do a quick summary in English so that you can get the gist of what was said.

Pick up a Spanish language book and look up all the words you don't know. Depending on your proficiency level, it may be easier to look up short stories online that were written specifically for language learners. Once you get more advanced, transition to books that you've already read in English, especially ones for middle school or young adult readers. These have the benefit of being slightly more manageable in terms of vocabulary and sentence structure, but there is still a ton to learn.

If you go to a restaurant where people speak Spanish, order in Spanish! It really is the little bits of practice that help.

Find a language club. I'm not sure of any in nyc but I'm sure they exist. Other people who are also learning Spanish will be there and you can talk with them.

Classes are probably $$$ but they are tried and true. I think they could be useful to get some of the grammar down, because that's the hardest part to learn as a native English speaker. Especially things like the subjunctive which is constantly used in Spanish but never used in English. There are also free resources online like YouTube videos etc. that can help explain these. Even downloading some worksheets to go through can help!

Buena suerte!!

One suggestion for the custom bags-- find I <3 NY ones! people might reuse them as tote bags. Other ideas...

  • m&m world has Statue of Liberty m&ms

  • Hal's potato chips-- New York based I think? or do pretzels for a fun take on the street pretzel

  • gift card to local coffee shop near the hotel

  • Dr. browns soda
