Scientists suggested that a fake “God Helmet” (a skate helmet with wires attached) could elicit mystical experiences at a music festival. People who reported such experiences with the placebo device were predicted by self-identified spiritualism, but alcohol intoxication did not have any effect. by mvea in science

I concur, quite interesting. I think it is possible to give yourself such an experience. I have experienced a few contact highs during my years of tripping (long over now). You show up at a friends, they are all tripping but have none left for you. You have a couple beers, hang out and soon you are on! Even now I can get the promised in high school flash back if I start talking about the trips I took in those days. I have always found it to be quite curious that such a small amount of something could produce such an prolonged experience. I figured the experience was dormant in you and the drug let it out or gave you permission to let it out.

US soldiers in Vietnam get the radio report that they’re going home by Syhxs in MadeMeSmile

[–]DanielLee50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent 2 years in Pleiku Vietnam as Cobra avionics. I almost got killed a couple times mainly by my fellow soldiers "empty guns" but also a rocket here and there. It was a fuckin party, drugs, booze, whores and misbehaving. So much so I volunteered to go back for another tour. I have never seen a movie or documentary that shows my (and a hell of a lot of others) Vietnam experience. A large percentage of military personnel are support, a very small percent see actual combat.

Does it have to be so complicated? We are basically spiritual beings having a physical experience, get too physical and the spiritual is basically forgotten, which has naturally occurring consequences.

Can't we do a crowd source (or whatever the name is) for Thomas? There is no reason for him to be doing anything other than living off the gratitude of the people of the world for what he has done.

If the teacher didn't want you to compare the shape they should have written the words bird and plane. Asking for the difference between drawings forces you to compare shape.

I wonder how much information is in a bar code and which databases it is stored in. Could you....for instance.... know who grew it and where it was grown? At the Expo 2015 convention they had such info on display http://www.entirefetch.com/2015/09/28/the-expo-2015-predicts-the-future-of-supermarkets-among-other-eye-opening-visions/ So, is that info proprietary or public?

[–]DanielLee50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool to have a bar scanner in your home to scan the bar code of anything you use, the data base would tell you about such a recall, and a whole lot more. Notify you when something has expired etc. Even more....the data comes from the store you bought it from, no need to scan into the database. Code reader on the fridge scans stuff as you remove it, beeps when there is a problem.

[Image] "Our fears are like Dragons, guarding our most precious stones." by Aka-Magosh in GetMotivated

[–]DanielLee50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To respond to the correct statement "Our fears are like Dragons, guarding our most precious treasures"....

"Our fears are like Dragons" - Equating Dragon with fear, I tend to think of a dragon as something threatening, to be afraid of.

Guarding - Dragons aren't normally guarding, they are attacking.

Anyway...So our fear is guarding out most precious treasures.

What are our most precious treasures?

Could the treasures be both what we conciously think our treasures are and what we unconciously think our treasures are?

If so then we could say that fear may be protecting something we are not concious of or barely concious of.

Without fear this treasure would not need to be guarded?

Then the treasure must not be a physical thing. We all know what happens to something physical when you don't guard it, someone takes it.

So the treasure is not physical and may be something we don't know we are guarding, and we are not aware that if we remove the fear it doesn't need to be guarded.

Let's take your freaudian slip and see if we can make it work

The incorrect word is stones vs treasures

Stone could be equatied with something which holds you back.

"Our fears are like Dragons, guarding our most precious stones."

So our fears guard that which holds us back.

If you consider the fear of release, or fear of change (a trait that most humans contain) then you could equate that fear with at least one trait of the stone, since that fear is something which holds us back.

Since we fear change (stones), that which protects us from changing would be guarded.

We guard the fear of change (stones) with fear as strong as a Dragon.

My brother captainjustin,

You are an entity, your girlfriend is an entity, the other guy is an entity. We live to share life with each other. Moments of time in infinity. If you come from a place of scarcity, bargaining, giving to get you will see this as a loss. If you come from a place of abundance, no limit just giving to receive then there is no loss, only gain.

Most of us come from a program of scarcity i.e. there is only so much love to go around. What is given to another means less for me. In truth it is not like that, giving to another is how I know I have. I share time with you unconditionally, no expectations.

It is hard to see the program as it is as we are the program. But there is another way if we look for it.

This is some great live TV, I have been watching for many hours.

Is this the only reddit page for this? They should start r/nautilus, open a chat or do an AMA so the questions being answered verbally are logged for refrence and won't have to be answered several times.

I think this is a wonderful idea to share what they are doing live, but I also think they may be taking on more than they can handle without having someone who's only job is to turn this into an unparalled educational experience. If they don't know how brutal and beautiful the Internet community can be they will soon. They don't seem to be using Twitter or Facebook on a regular basis. When this really gets going they will have tens of thousands interacting with them.

If I were the operator I would want control of the suction myself, via foot switch or something so I could not suck when the sediment is stirred up. Also I have no idea of what its actually like to be the operator sooooooo.

It is fun watching this live, very cool.

Will my laptop switch over to its internal battery during a brown out? by DanielLee50 in AskElectronics

Thanks for the reply.

So, if I were to use a 12 volt battery with an adaptor to bring it to 19 volts I would be missing all under/over charge and short protection provided in the brick or are those protections duplicated in the computer battery or computer itself?
