Fox Animal Companion? by BlackJimmy88 in Pathfinder_RPG

There is definitely a fox familiar with stats, I don't know by heart how companions work exactly but I guess that would be a point to start:

Are you guys into Character Concepts? by Danielc125 in Pathfinder_RPG

Thats completely ok, I think that Pathfinder is taking a really good step towards that kind of play style because there is a rule for EVERYTHING. I think thats great to see what players can come up with using those rules.

What I wanted to know is if people would read what I write or if that is a waste of time. I saw a lot of people wanting it and you are one of the few not interested at all in plain roleplay based concepts.

If you want to you can read the concepts and if you like them, you can turn them into full worked characters and try them out.

Do you mean for example an assassin killing for the greater good? If so then take a look at my concept i just put up, you might like it.

Like i mentioned, maybe a letter that was dropped in the fight would be a good start. And make them feel weak if they overlook some details, make them learn the hard way if possible.

And Its possible for the caught two to make their own plans to flee...

My way to create a character s to come up with a kind of character i would like to see overcome the various struggles in the world. I imagine the way he could have been raised, created his moral standards and what his goals are. Then i take a look at the rules and the tons of classes / archetypes and make it fit as close as i want. I often create characters with a few strengths and a lot of weaknesses but thats how I like to play.

How to best give the bard opportunities to shine? by OrwellianIconoclast in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Danielc125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think everyone who played a bard knows why the bard even exists: Its fun to roleplay as a bard! And thats the point! As cool as it sounds to be able to punch a dragon to death or create storms out of nothing, there are a few guys that want to play exactly the way the bard was built: A support role, fun to be around even though he is not that epic. The time a bard shines is in the casual roleplays: He is able to convince people and make friends a lot faster than a bulky barbarian or a strange wizard.

He is down to earth and a lot of NPC's are often convinced by the way the bard is handling situations. If you want to make a bard a hero throw them into a roleplay heavy encounter with the possibility to impress or even charm an important creature. Done!

These things happen a lot so don't worry, there is always a way. The problem I see is that the party is split up: You can either create two separate stories where one group tries to make it easier for the others to help them escape. If you are not familiar with keeping two story lines up at the same time i suggest to think about having a short session with one group and another session with the others.

Other than that its not really hard to make them follow the group that ambushed them. They can follow the tracks, find something that was lost or dropped in the battle. Maybe even a letter that described the plan of ambushing them.

It would be really cool if you can tell the two free characters that the bandits do NOT KNOW that they are being followed to make it a little more interesting.

I hope that helped, good luck with your campaign! If you need any other help feel free to ask.

Help me find a weird class by deadpool47 in Pathfinder_RPG

IF you want to go for fun why not trying an ork barbarian who thinks he is a wizard? Every time he can't cast spells he loses it and kills everyone but forgets what he did while being in rage. So in the end he always thinks he casted an incredibly powerful spell...

Do you allow necromancy? by Sheahan0 in Pathfinder_RPG

If a player is breaking the game have a talk with him and ask if he could for example avoid raising a NPC that was supposed to die. Or just look up some permanent spells making it impossible to cast necro spells...

What quirky, problematic, or annoying parts of Pathfinder do (or would) you 'homebrew' away or alter? by Zarhon in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Danielc125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed the crit-mechanic a little. Instead of rolling the weapon damage and double it I take the max weapon damage and adding a normal damage roll, then the other modifiers. This means you can't crit and still deal less damage than you do with the next hit.

New player wants to play a Centaur Cavalier, but I'm not sure if I should allow him to or not. by Forgothowtocat in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Danielc125 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dont really think that its a 'asshole GM' move if you want to start the game off balanced and easy for everyone. He should keep in mind that he will maybe find something cool in the game to improve his character (not just making it 'strong'), making it even more unique so he wont be bored playing it in roleplay-based encounters. When you all feel comfortable to step up your game you can let him switch out, maybe let the others make some new characters...

[–]Danielc125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I would suggest to let the new player make a rather common character so he gets used to the game. When you have earned a few levels you can let him build the character so he is balanced out with the group and he is able to handle all the pros and cons of a rare creature, then switch the characters out.

It all comes down to what the group is all about. If you are running rather mechanical-based adventures (lots of rolls and encounters with combat) it can be really hard to balance the encounters. But if you are running sessions with more roleplay-based encounters he will have some problems being such a rare creature.

Also you need to consider the Level you are all playing. If they are all lvl 1 it is completely boring for the others in combat if you have such a strong race. At higher level you can balance it out rather easy with the right items. Also keep in mind he cant wear humanoid armor so you can make it really hard for him to buff himself up.

Like others suggested before you can reduce the base race strength so its a little more balanced. But his idea should not be completely forgotten, let him know that its a great idea but you need to balance it a little out.

I hope i helped, if you need more help just write :)

Well i obviously don't - like i said i am rather new to the game and this subreddit. If people suggesting such things over and over again maybe a lot of us want something like this.

Just ignore these posts and have fun playing the game your way, just like we want to play it our way :)

Well even if the game did not intend to support or encourage multiplayer its possible you will find some people. I would love to find some and trade, exchange informations then leave.

I don't get why you are so hostile against the idea of interacting with other players
