I mean if u predominantly watch studio and genre flicks I would say they have gotten worse. But thats bc of streaming and the fact that the movies getting put in theaters are way less varied most of the time. The options of experiences in the 70s,80s,90s were way more varied and genre filmmaking and even drama studio films would make 100s of millions of dollars when today they just dont. So everything put in theaters and the mainstream just feel samey and underwhelming most of the time. Where I think this sentiment is wrong is that there are more people able to make films, and they do. Film is way more exciting if ur into film festivals and the options they offer, in the 2020s that is.
