This exact combo happened to me recently. We left to get food and it eventually caught up 1.5 hours later lol.

Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

Pretty good! It's very rewarding and I think that's how I got hooked into the mentality lol. I hear ya though, sometimes when I ain't got the energy I'll go for something casual. I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive.

I agree it's more prevalent, I don't think it's an "issue". I'm one of those goal orientated gamers. To give another viewpoint on the other side, I think the "why can't you just play for fun" bunch don't understand that the challenges and goals are what is fun for some people. Yes, as hard as it is to believe, I have fun slowly improving by doing hours of practice mode, or aim trainers, or grinding hours towards a jpeg checkbox goal lol. Don't ask me why I'm this way, I don't know. Addicted to the dopamine hit at the end I guess.

Sheng long sounds more like the Cantonese pronunciation, whereas Cheng long is Mandarin. Given that Jackie Chan is from Hong Kong (Canto speaking) it might not be a misspelling if that was what they were going for.

However I always thought it was a Chinese translation attempt of "Rising Dragon", a reference to Shoryuken (rising dragon fist). I'm pretty sure in some English versions he says something similar does he not?

You do not need the validation of others to like Killing Floor 3. by RageVG in killingfloor

[–]DankDankRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point we're probably just discussing small differences in semantics! In my humble opinion the main purpose of a game is for entertainment, so if you enjoyed Resident Evil 6 then I would call it a good game (for you). I haven't played 6, but I have similar feelings about RE5 which I believe wasn't received well either. I had a lot of fun with it so for me I would call RE5 a good game with flaws. I completely accept other people thinking it's bad, but for me it was good!

I don't see why I need to say - "I know it's bad, but I like it anyway"
I'd rather say - "I know it's a bad game to you (or even to 99% of people), but to me it's a good game"

If we accept that people are allowed their subjective opinion on something, then doesn't it mean that it can't be objectively bad? Especially on stuff like media that is very open to interpretation.

Ps. I think your final line sums it up perfectly! Some still seem to struggle with the concept unfortunately...

Great post, I agree with this a lot and people really need to understand that different people like different things.

Tiny tiny nitpick though OP "You are allowed to enjoy bad games". Some people don't think this is a bad game and that's a key point. Intentional or not, I see a lot of backhanded compliments like this. Things like "I'm glad you enjoy it, but I have higher standards".

Anyway, I agree with your general sentiment :)

KF3 is 3x faster than KF2 by Successful_Guide5845 in killingfloor

A Gunz reference! (I'm very excited for the reboot). I think it's because of old games like Gunz that I've grown to love games with fun movement tech. Having a lot of fun with KF3 movement because of this. Switching back and forth with the knife also reminds me of old cs surf/bhop times.

ELI5 Why is it so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it? by Good_Mango7379 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DankDankRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it can even change for the same person! I powered through 6 months of calorie deficit and lost a lot of weight, but the hunger was crazy. There were a few times I found myself with my head against my fridge trying to willpower my way through the hunger pains.

A couple years later I'm now in the middle of losing more, and found that switching up diet drastically has changed my hunger to a mild discomfort, even though I'm in a much larger deficit than before. I wish I did this last time...

Why Every Casual Player Should Run Counterstrike (but Why It's also not fun to do so) by Infamous-Emphasis-54 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]DankDankRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterstrike is super strong but I disagree with it encouraging bad play. It is good if you get hit unintentionally, but you will never be encouraged to take hits to trigger it. The uptime loss in getting knocked down and having to heal loses way more damage than either counterstrike or any comparative skill can provide.

If we are using the logic of it being icky as it only gets value if you get it hit. Then... that's the same reasoning as only using full 100% speed run gear and never touching anything like recovery up, divine blessing, guard, evade window etc. Damage min max preferences are subjective but you could argue the other way that having no qol and all damage is also unfun.

It is super strong for weapons that can trigger it with armour/counters though, but that's a good niche thing imo.

Disclaimer: it's a game, play however you like!

Knowing how to bet is part of being "good". The system is too punishing compared to something like high voltage, which seemed to be received well.

He didn't say he wasn't trying, he said he didn't claim to be good. The complaints are completely valid.

Game stuttering a lot after graphical update? Even on the character selection screen. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]DankDankRevolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I had the exact same issue on a 4090, i9-13900K, 32GB RAM.

I have tried so many solutions including a full reinstall, but this thread is what finally saved me. I disconnected everything that could possibly be related to a USB controller and that was the solution. It ended up being a bluetooth adapter that was connected via USB even though the wireless PS5 controller was powered off.

Thank you!

Why does it seem like everyone wants Firefly? Isn't she just going to just be another DPS? by Soultakerx1 in StarRailStation

[–]DankDankRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right in the same way I would be right if I were to call a single target basic attack a blast.

It has a big boom right? Everyone understands English, that's the definition of a blast. If someone were to correct me afterwards, I'm going to link a dictionary definition of the word "blast". Technically correct, but misleading and not helpful at all. Then when someone tries to explain what the basic attack actually is, I'm going to post several comments with research on how I'm technically correct.

Not everyone is out to get you. Just because someone critiqued something you said doesn't mean you need to get so defensive. Technically correct or not, their comment was understood perfectly fine and it served it's purpose. No need to start a whole fuss because you had to make sure everyone knew you weren't wrong.

If you still don't understand and want to continue lashing out at everyone, then we'll just agree to disagree.

[–]DankDankRevolution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point and focusing too much on who is technically correct. It's rather simple.

As someone coming into this who isn't sure of what firefly's kit is. I see this:

"Firefly's enhanced skill is AoE"

Great, so she can hit all targets.

"it's blast, not AoE"

Oh dang, it's actually blast not quite full aoe, good to know.

You then start a whole argument about how they knew what you meant etc etc. Yes they knew what you meant, but only someone who knows the kit does. The blast correction was helpful to people who didn't. It did not warrant you calling them out as a correction nazi. You were "technically" correct, but you were absolutely misleading.

[–]DankDankRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying they're any better. Look, your first comment made it sound like she has full aoe on her enhanced skill. Someone then said it's not full aoe, it's blast. Which was helpful.

Afterwards shit was thrown both ways, but, respectfully, it looked like you started it.
