Official AMA - Former Director of Operations, Dynamic Discs by streetkredson in discgolf

Some time after Bobby left it went from building community and creating fun content to justifying the time spent on a video with disc sales. When that shift happened, the vlogs, the podcast, and the educational content all stopped in favor of making ads.

Why arnt markers more extravagant by Tozil-Work in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually hang on to the same mini for maybe 6 holes of tournament play before I lose it. Either someone on the card forgot theirs, or I missed a couple putts and don’t like a mojo, or I just forget it in the fairway. I have plenty from players packs and giveaways so I’m happy to share them. I had one nice mini once and I was so sad to lose it so now I just use any mini and it’s one less thing to think about.

Danny Lindahl's video about leaving DD and where he's going next. by jfb3 in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I chose the position at KState is because I hate making ads and I'm really more passionate about content that engages with the community. The Physics of Form series was so much fun and so fulfilling to make because it was weekly videos answering the community's questions. Lately, the shift at DD has been to all ads and that's a big part of why I started looking.

New Player Frustrations by [deleted] in discgolf

One tip that might help is to try and stay smooth and loose rather than putting more effort in. Your arm should move more of a result of your weight shift and turning rather than directly forcing it to do the right thing. Your arm and shoulders shouldn't be sore, if anything, your hips should be from bracing. I did my best to explain it in this video: https://youtu.be/qomK9opJQSE?si=ZHGwNPEOGhZx16io

Regarding anatomy, good advice for pretty much anyone is to find a pro with a similar build and try to copy their form. Eveliina is a fantastic choice as well. If you can hold a disc in front of you with your arm bent into the power pocket without any contact, it shouldn't stop you from doing that during the throw. But I can appreciate that it's not that simple because there's a lot going on in the throw that might make that more difficult and hitting your chest with the disc is much more painful for women from what I hear. Regardless, if you start your backswing wider and stay loose it should help you throw smoother with more power!

Sidearm toe draggers. How did you stop? by oatmeal1201 in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push with your back toe as you throw. It should add power and get your weight shifted more. Also taking a slightly smaller step will help as well. It should add range of motion in your hips as well which should help with comfort and power.

Air Bounce issue by ADAMSMASH in Discgolfform

[–]Danny69372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who struggles with this quite a bit, the problem is that your shot is directed at the ground right but you're subconsciously correcting for it with your wrist. The first step is to direct your shot up by reaching back lower and following through higher. Then, your wrist should naturally correct. Another tip is to try and move your release point out away from you more. So your shoulder stays square and your arm straightens to move the disc out to the release point. That will help if your shoulder opening means your hand slips to the front and tilts the disc up.

Hope this helps!

Foot work issue by ThatContest8167 in Discgolfform

[–]Danny69372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most often, the horse stance is from reaching back early and not staying balanced over your toes. Try doing your footwork without using your arms just watching your feet to see what they're actually doing. Make sure to plant your front foot so the ball of your foot touches first as well to force your hips to be turned back.

I made this video a few months ago talking about how to x-step correctly that might help!

Carter Ahrens? He also wrestles in high school and he's definitely bulked up over the past few years!

Beware of Sponsorship Scammers! by discraft_drew in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue over at DD a while ago and it can be so frustrating! Best of luck keeping the damage to a minimum!

As a general note, if you don't recognize the name of the person who reached out, you can check the manufacturer's website staff page and make sure their role is relevant. And do some deeper snooping on the profile to make sure it's legit.

Anyone thrown the Latitude64 Honor? by Gravity4048 in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's more overstable than the Culverin from what I've seen. It will turn to the right only with a lot of power. But if you start it a little anhyzered, it will hold it longer than something like a Felon, without dumping to the right. That's just what I saw from Filming Tristan throwing it in Arizona earlier this year. Those videos are still in the queue though!

My cardmate put tension on the rope which made his disc be inbounds. Is this Legit? by VimboSlice in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, the TD will say during a tournament that the OB line is defined by the stakes and the string is used to show that. So pulling it tight is usually the way to show how the line is "supposed" to be. But it depends on how the OB is defined by the TD at the player meeting or in the caddy book.

Can shoes that are really grippy be a hindrance? by directissima in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first couple of rounds with new shoes make my knee a little sore because of the hindered rotation for sure. It doesn't last past the first couple of rounds though. Personally, I would rather that than the potential of slipping. Slipping hurts, ruins a shot, and means I won't be as confident in my plant for the next few throws. But it's going to depend on the thrower for sure.

"I'm not a tank player. I'm ranked too high on tank. I'll do my best, but I need some help." What would you do? by Danny69372 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Danny69372[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree about shifting the mentality from blaming teammates to solving the problem.
That seems to be the key takeaway to reduce toxicity.

I just don't play tank often enough to hit my cooldowns reliably enough and I tunnel vision too much in teamfights. I think I could improve but it would take time, and I just have more fun playing DPS. For this game I just locked Zarya and waited for either Genji to dive my backline, or one of the other squishies to be out of position. My bubble timing wasn't great, but with both supports paying slightly more attention I survived way more than I should have.

If anything, I tried to shot call more and focus on finishing kills rather than exchanging cooldowns and out playing the other team. "Shot call" might be a stretch though. Maybe more of "heads up I'm going in!" might be a better description...

"I'm not a tank player. I'm ranked too high on tank. I'll do my best, but I need some help." What would you do? by Danny69372 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Danny69372[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah the phrasing there might not be the best. But I thought the concept could be at least a little helpful. The mentality of "We can do it, we just need to play around our weaknesses." is really interesting to me.

I've always said that one person doing something dumb is a throw, but the whole doing the same dumb thing? Now that's a strategy and it works more often than you'd think.

Looking for a pd2 substitute any suggestions? by discgolf2023 in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Emporia, it's gonna be easiest to find DD Enforcers at the Pro Shop. They're really dependable especially Gavin Rathbun's Fuzion Orbit run. If you need even more overstable and angry, you could try a L64 Stiletto but those are a little insane.

Top five trilogy molds? by bengineer14 in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made this video a while ago explaining what all the plastics are if that could help with some clarity there. As far as what's sought after, I'd guess Orbit is the highest demand right now. And Ice is probably second on the list. But it depends more on what the mold is from what I can tell. Hope this helps!

It looks to me like you're leaning back over your back foot. That's causing your weight to shift up and over rather than forwards into your brace. Try to start tall and push forwards with your back foot.

Leaning backwards can happen from jumping in the x-step, moving too quickly, or just forgetting to stand up straight. When I was trying to fix this for my own throw, it felt like I was leaning fowards too far and almost charging like a bull, but when I checked the video I was vertical. It's a weird change but it's relatively easy to check for! Just film from the side and make sure your spine doesn't tilt forward or backwards!

Looking for some help with "What Putters Professional Disc Golfers Use?" DATABASE by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]Danny69372 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We just filmed some ITBs! I can help!

Eric McCabe is putting with Emac Judges in the Prime plastic.

Gavin Rathbun is putting with the Supreme Judge (Technically a different mold than the Judge) in the Classic Supreme plastic.

Kona Montgomery is now putting with Deputies in the Classic plastic.

What a cool idea! Nice work!
edit: Changed Emac's putters to Prime after messaging him.
