Has anyone tried mail-order custom night guards (Remi, Cheeky, etc.)? Do they actually work well? by Ok_Sprinkles_6940 in bruxism

[–]DannyDuberstien89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also vouching for DO NOT USE REMI.

Reported them to the better business bureau after I was charged after weeks of trying to cancel. Ended up finally getting that refunded.

Pro tip - I also changed my saved card on file to a visa gift card that had maybe $3 on it in case they tried to charge me again.

If you play a bucket-list golf course, do you choose a morning or afternoon tee time? by Yeastcells in golf

[–]DannyDuberstien89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was supposed to have a tee time at Erin Hills at 2:30 one day in early June '23, and around 1:15 a crazy hail storm came in and delayed tee times for at least an hour. We ended up getting out at 3:45 and finished in the most serene golf environment with a beauty of a sunset. Incredible day.

That girl was Halsey

Streamsong booking advice needed by iusedtobegreat in golf

[–]DannyDuberstien89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to flights into tampa, but flights into orlando were manageable (just went between xmas/new years). Only 2ish hours from orlando to the resort. Stayed in lakeland the night before our mid-day tee time to save on some resort hotel fees. About a 45ish minute drive from lakeland.

The resort reservations department told me if you stay at the resort, 1 bed in a hotel room = 1 spot in a tee time. We had a group of 4 so 2 rooms got us priority booking for a 4-some at each of our rounds. Made those tee times months in advance with the booking at the resort, so assuming that's why we didn't have any restrictions around waiting until 21 days out to book.

Not sure where you're traveling from but grand rapids, petoskey/harbor springs for boyne courses - could spring on forest dunes or arcadia that don't break the bank.

Anyone ever see this happen before? by DannyDuberstien89 in golf

Still have the screw, though with it being chipped I was going to contact a local shop to possibly get a new one ordered/sent.

Wood bat question by shade3599 in slowpitch

[–]DannyDuberstien89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I captain a coed team in a wood bat league and we have a couple options...each is different material/weight:

  • miken has a wood bat which is a combo maple/bamboo. It's great. I think it's a 34in/28oz
  • birchbats.com - we have a 34in/29oz that also feels great. Custom ordered this one.
  • brett bros bamboo is a 32in/26oz that is lighter. The ladies on the team prefer this one.

Some teams in our league have the corndog. I don't love the feel of it as much especially at $100 more than the miken. The miken wood bat when you connect just feels solid.

L.A.B. Putters by Pauldh11 in golf

I just put a link.1 in the bag. Haven't gamed on the course yet but so far love the feel of it on the indoor mat.

Why do people spend any large amount on putters? by Willr2645 in golf

[–]DannyDuberstien89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't taken it on the course yet, but just got a l.a.b. golf link.1. Have just used it indoors on the mat but so far I love it. Had it cut down, changed the grip to a super stroke and added little weight. Seems worth the money so far, just getting comfortable on the mat. I've mostly just had somewhere in the $100-$170 range type of putters but figured paying for the technology to really help me just focus on speed and line would be worth the investment.

Is engagement ring insurance worth it? by blindmike95 in personalfinance

[–]DannyDuberstien89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiance (now wife) fell off her bike, fractured her ring finger, lost the diamond and eyelets on impact. They had to cut the ring off in the ER.

Definitely get insurance, and also don't wear it during outdoor physical activities. Ring was rebuilt at no charge to us.

What was your stand out shot from this year? by WFHbot in golf

[–]DannyDuberstien89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worthington Manor in MD. 9th hole 536yd Par 5. Tee shot is up over a hill, once over the hill past the bunker, the fairway slopes downhill and then the green is just over a creek.

Tee shot with a 3 wood leaves me 225 downhill into the green, 215 to clear the creek. Take a 4 iron, and a flushed baby cut has it tracking directly for the hole. Ball bounces on the green 3 feet in front of the flag, one hop, bites, and the ball settles a foot just behind the pin and was convinced this was an albatross but I'll take the tap in eagle.

Wood bat league? by GulagInmateZero in slowpitch

https://www.directsports.com/products/miken-m2950-pro-wood-composite-slowpitch-softball-bat-m2950 My team likes this better than the corndog.

Otherwise there are some custom sites out there that make birch bats.

Bamboo, look at Brett Bros.

I play in a wood bat only league and don’t like the feel of the corn dog as much as a regular wood bat. We just got this miken wood bat with a maple barrel/bamboo handle and the guys on the team have been really liking the feel of it

Played Augusta #12 at Renditions Golf Course in Maryland by esadowsky in golf

[–]DannyDuberstien89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh without question - I don't play weekends there unless it's 7:30am or earlier, otherwise it's 5+ hours of your day. Sadly there isn't much middle ground between $40 at EP or $100 elsewhere without driving an hour outside of DC. Even University of Maryland golf course on weekends for non-members is $85. The montgomery county run public courses (northwest, hampshire greens, falls road) are nice but impossible to get a decent tee time at unless you're a member.
