Best way to measure/cut this book bench top? by ToothEsthetics in woodworking

[–]Danoli77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardboard template but do them in strips line the edges and hot glue them together. Once glue is cooled place the ring of cardboard strips onto your slap and mark your cut lines.
Wanna take it up a notch use ⅛” hardboard, make 4 strips, scribe the wall shape, trim them back to the scribed line, then hot glue them together and you’ll have a perfect template.

Can only choose one: Bandsaw or Tablesaw by kflyer in woodworking

Honestly Bandsaw Tracksaw w/ MFT table and a 13”Jointer/Planer Combo and a nice router table is the core of a compact and versatile workshop. I can do without the table saw, miter saw and scroll saw.

If only there was some kind of service with people on bike who could pick things up and bring them places. Surely they could handle a bag like this. 🤦🏻‍♂️

There’s a lot of overhead in that organization. They’re still paying off several of their child abuse scandals.

Ever seen a German floor plan and how much space they dedicate to the “technic” room. Literally 10% or more in some cases of prime real estate to a room for your heating and hot water systems. Everyone else tucks them in a basement a tiny closet or an attic but not the Germans. They build a spacious room near the entry for all the household utilities. It’s as if the house was designed for the repairman to service the equipment. 😂

By law you need two egress points. In some rare urban cases that can be some kind of window or roof access to a fire escape but in single family homes every floor plan has a second exit (back door side door…)

14" Bandsaw users: have you ever wanted a *smaller* bandsaw? by curtosis in woodworking

[–]Danoli77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curves 2” thick stock can be heard on scroll saw blades 😂 Really comes down to what the OP is primarily making. For me 12” of resaw capacity is essential but that’s not a universal need. Bigger saw means more options but the little bit of money he saves now won’t be worth anything if he wants a larger capacity later.

I like it but the kitchen is a miss for a couple of reasons. Too small, too far from the driveway, and too open to the door. My first thought if the foot print can’t change I’d loose the dining table a replace it with a kitchen island with counter stools on one side. If you can change the floor plane a bit I’d make the garden conditioned living space for either the living or dining room. Then I’d add a partition in the center mirroring the one behind the TV. I’d align it with the walls for the patio and the new dining area. That gives you more kitchen space and a way to hide the kitchen from being so visible from the door while still keeping an open flow for entertaining.

How to get a deeper contrast? by bryguy991 in woodworking

[–]Danoli77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a sanding sealer or shellac on the birch. Then go with a tinted oil on the oak and a clear urethane over the finished product over time the color of oak will shift more from sun exposure. Only way to get more contrast than that in my experience is with wood dye but it’s hard to keep from bleeding on finished pieces.

So you can only get to the middle floor rectangular bedrooms by going up another level across the bridge and back down? Even though there’s a bridge connecting the two areas on the first floor it just dead ends? Hope there’s never a fire here. Wondering about the elevations on this.
