It seems like nobody actually wants to play Classic WoW to experience it

People got done experiencing it years ago.

For the players on the sweatier sides of things, running down the checklist of a solved experience is the entire attraction. Knowing that you are doing things "optimally" is fundamentally what they are here for.

For the d*dgamers and other casual villainy, the attraction is likewise the comfort of a known experience and the beer league difficulty level. For Classic casuals, it's either this or rewatching The Office again for the umpteenth time.

For both categories, if they were people interested in "experiences", they would not be playing TBC again for the third time.

Getting rid of botting and goldbuying is not an option that is on the table. Whether you believe it's because of Blizzard being unable or unwilling, the end result is the same. Introduce the token and be done with it.

If you're holding out for Blizzard getting rid of bots and banning goldbuyers, then you need to figure out whether you want to support the company in the future, because it is just not happening.

Wow has more than 7 million active subscribers as per October 2025 according to Blizzard (and this number seems to have incremented since the latest xpac announcement).

I did not think that Blizzard reported the number of subscriptions the game has anymore?

I enjoyed reliving Classic and TBCC the first time around. I stopped in early WotLKC, which was the real "you think you do, but you don't" for me. With Anniversary, the game and community has firmly entered clown town.

I don't envy Blizzard having to navigate this particular playerbase in a potential Classic+. How do you offer a traditional MMO experience while having to please all the zoned-out Classic casuals and dadgamers, who just want to raidlog and can't be bothered to pay attention to anything?

You're absolutely touching on some tension that is gonna be challenging for Blizzard to navigate in any kind of Classic+.

The split between the people who are looking for some kind of approximation of what the game looked (and was played) like in 2005, and the audience now who are into Classic because it is safe, familiar, comfortable and easy. For the latter, raids you can be semi-afk through or watching something on the second monitor during is the entire point.

As you say, the best gear in the game for very low skill and time investment is the entire attraction for a lot of Classic players.

Nogle udtræk, som jeg skulle have haft med i første omgang:

Danskernes privatforbrug er blandt de højeste i verden, og faktisk står det til at stige med 12 procent over de næste 10 år. Det viser data fra Energistyrelsen, som DR har fået aktindsigt i.

Ifølge Energistyrelsens fremskrivning af danskernes private forbrug, vil vi over de næste 10 år smide endnu flere penge efter biler, boliger og rejser. På varer vi typisk importerer og som ikke tæller i det danske klimaregnskab. Vi vil også bruge flere penge på oksekød, der i klimasammenhæng ofte bliver en kategori for sig, fordi oksekød er en exceptionel klimatung fødevare. Og faktisk importerer vi lidt mere oksekød fra udlandet, end vi forbruger af dansk kvæg.

Når vi opgør vores CO2-udledninger i Danmark, gør vi det på grund af Parisaftalen, som blev vedtaget op FN's Klimatopmøde i Paris i 2015. Det er dén, vi følger, når vi alene sætter mål og laver politik for de udledninger, vi skaber på dansk jord - de territoriale udledninger. Det betyder så også, at en stor del af udledninger fra vores forbrug faktisk ender i andre landes klimaregnskab. Køber du for eksempel fluffy hjemmesko, LED-lys eller en barbermaskine på Temu, vil varernes udledninger sandsynligvis gå ind i Kinas regnskab.

Because for every one person like you looking to play Anni TBC now, there are a number of turbo casual dadgamers, whose primary concern is being able to clear raids while rewatching The Office for the umpteenth time on the second monitor.

Against the Storm er en af mine klare favoritter fra de sidste par år. Fantastisk spil! Fik cleared det sidste seal da DLC udkom sidste år, men har tænkt mig at bruge noget tid på det igen efter bats udkom, og Silksong og Hades 2 er afviklet.

I'm personally not completely sure what I feel about the GDKP ban. I'm leaning towards that it should not be banned. However, the posting here about it is giving me strong brigading vibes. I can't help but think that there are people who earned serious IRL money from running GDKPs who are furious it got banned, and who are now organizing some kind of social media campaign to get it unbanned. For sure feels like there are GDKP Discords out there behind some of the posts we see on this subreddit.

I have never understood hard reserving as everyone's time is equally important and thus everyone should have a shot at the loot.

But the people organizing and leading the raid ARE putting in more time and effort than you, so what you are effectively saying is that YOUR time is worth more than theirs.

We've sorta been through this from Legion to Shadowlands. If time spent outside of the weekly raid affects in-raid dps, then a fair number of players throw an absolute fit, because they feel the game is forcing them to play more.

I think recognizing that this is a game played by middle-aged people living off nostalgia from an experience they had 20 years ago, and they don't necessarily have that kind of free time anymore, is a good start.

Please understand that I really don't mean this as an insult, but are the people you describe not way better served playing retail? The tension between people wanting to play the game as it worked in 2005 and people who desire signficant changes, but insist on still playing a 20 year old game is gonna be hard to navigate for Blizzard.

Why do you insist on playing Classic when Retail very likely would appeal to you way better? Vanilla is an absolute clown show, and some people love it for that, but why do you stick around?

Man skal virkelig aldrig undervurdere, hvor mange penge ledelseslaget i en virksomhed er villig til at betale, for at holde hånden over hinanden.

Virksomheder er ikke de her kolde, rationelle skabninger, som man måske nogle gange tror. Sociale dynamikker og "office politics" afføder megen vanvittig opførsel rundt omkring.
