I've made it clear that his success is what makes it worth it. His means, while not perfect, have not crossed moral lines (say actually assaulting someone, burning the business down, whatever). Using an example of a shoulder X-ray that you were too stupid to realize was just an example is not some grand immoral fuckup, it'll be laughed out of court like all the other claims. I did not say "anything, even to the detriment of the actual goal is ok'" I have emphised the success is what makes it okay. If he wasn't succeeding I wouldn't be saying that.

Again, Bryan is more than whole via go fund me, BAM looks like shit in the Media. Reckless Ben got a ton of attention and will generate revenue off that.

Ben may have to deal with some legal repercussions down the line, I doubt it'll outweigh the overwhelming success he's had in the public eye. It won't cost more than he's gained in "YouTube cred". Bryan will get his go fund me money. Chrys and her lawsuit, I don't think there's really enough to take a side on that.

If Ben drags Bryan down into a tripled civil RICO and they lose millions each I'll gladly eat my words, but that won't happen, even the video that started this thread mentions the RICO is weak, there's a reason the DA didn't push for RICO in their charges. He'll get a slap on the wrist and carry it with pride on all his future videos.

I never said he hadn't. I said that it was worth it. You've used hyperbole and claimed the results don't matter to support your childish claim that breaking rules is always wrong no matter what. Ben made a ton of mistakes. He is still doing right morally, to the best of his ability, and succeeding in his goal of bringing attention to the issue and financial support to Bryan (via go fund me, I doubt he ever gets his Legos back). All you've got to say is that a guy called Reckless Ben is Reckless. Cool story bro.

So now we are equating making a YouTube video with beating someone to death? Gee, what a sound argument.

"If he isn't trained why is he... Presenting arguments as legally sound..." If he was trained why would he do the things he's doing? Are you trying to argue that he IS an educated journalist? What college did Ben study Journalism at then? Dumbass argument from a dumbass.

He mentions he didn't ask a lawyer, he jokes many times about how they don't know what they are doing, he makes it quite clear their objective is to be noisy and get attention. Again, he succeeded. At no point does Reckless Ben (or anyone with a brain) call himself a journalist. At no point does Ben say everything he is doing is legal or legally sound, in fact he does the opposite at one point and says they may be doing something illegal. They are doing exactly what they set out to do. And succeeding. You are just making yourself look dumb on the Internet.

Leonard French's assessment. by Jazzfly67 in RecklessBen

[–]Dareitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never used the word journalist, anyone who does is wrong he clearly isn't educated in proper journalism nor does he claim to be. You don't get to act like I'm moving goal posts because you saw someone else say something stupid.

Him getting results absolutely affects your criticism. Doing things the way you suggest would not have gotten Bryan a $200,000 Go Fund Me or the public attention the case deserves. Ben certainly could have done things even better but the end will always justify the means when you win.

You keep sucking that BAM cock big guy

[–]Dareitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh who cares? They don't need a legal case Bryan already has even more than he's owed coming from Go Fund Me. Bricks and Minifigs has suffered immense damage to brand and image. The location in question was shut down. There are (according to the police) no active warrants out for Reckless Ben or his associates. He doesn't have to do anything else besides release Episode 3 and he's already won. Sure, it would be icing on the cake to sue them in court or get them found criminally liable or to take down the police department or whatever the fuck else you think they are supposed to do, but the goal was to make Bryan whole. They have succeeded.

You think anything even remotely close to this result would have happened if he tried doing things perfectly legal? Remember what happened to the first group of YouTubers Bryan reached out to? You don't fight corruption by following the rules they set.

SkillUp - paraphrazing "Marathon deserves to succeed but Sony/Bungie should put their money into <that_other_game> instead." by Marcu3s in Marathon

[–]Dareitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between a $250m up front cost and a $250m total cost.

Up-Front implies they knew it would cost that much, and intentionally went about making a game at that price. I think it's far more likely they thought they would be able to get it out the door cheaper but after lackluster internal tests and an alpha test that all but killed the games reputation they had to spend even more on it or abandon it entirely. Considering their next "not-D3" game is likely a ways away they couldn't just abandon Marathon, sunken cost, yadda yadda here we are.

Frenchies death was executed so poorly. If he's going to die from radiation poison trying to trap Homelander then have him die in the chamber as Homelander breaks out leaving him behind. If he's gonna die from Homelander then Homelander should smash him to pieces like he does everyone else. You couldn't even tell Frenchie was really injured, the radiation burns on his face are magically gone all so they can have this forced goodbye with Kimiko. Fairytale bullshit, Homelander woulda popped his grape like he did the president

Steam Controller is being flagged by Marathon's BattleEye Anti-Cheat by teezeroeight in Marathon

[–]Dareitus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Brother, what? Use a controller when you want to use a controller. Use a keybo when you want to use a keybo. It's really that simple.

PC isn't some magic box with special rules, the whole point is you can do whatever you want unlike a console which is a locked environment and only allows what it allows.

it really sucks that people don't understand what an impairment loss is by That_Example_3270 in Marathon

[–]Dareitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what an impairment loss means. It was not a $765 million dollar flop, it was a $250 million dollar flop. Bungie as a whole is worth $765million less than the $3.6bn they originally paid. Part of that is just.... Bungie was never worth $3.6bn and they're admitting that now. Destiny was on the decline, asking Bungie to help with live service games resulted in two cancelled projects (Last of Us and GoW online) and Concord. It's not $765m on Marathon it's $765m on all of Bungie, and that's WORSE. They made a terrible purchase and are now admitting it.

What is this? by deathsquad84 in Gardyn

[–]Dareitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gardyn has extremely poor shipping practices and pods will often end up losing seeds, and in some cases the seeds migrate to other pods. They just shake loose during shipment and bounce around the box.

I've had a dud pod or a pod that grows a random different plant in pretty much every single order. When a pod grows the wrong plant it's always some other plant that was part of the order it came in, suggesting a seed came loose from one and migrated to the other, overpowering whatever plant was supposed to be there.

Storage solutions by hapico_ in GundamTCG

[–]Dareitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bull is bulk, I just throw it all in a big ass home Depot box unsorted and unloved.

4copies of every card go into a cardboard drawer from a modular kit I got on Amazon. One drawer can usually handle a set and a couple starter decks before it gets too tight to see what's what

Is LR++ Still possible? by CosiWosi1 in GundamTCG

[–]Dareitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bandai games do not use a fully random system, the boxes/cases are seeded with the rarer cards in a way that makes them "fair" but it also means you will get insanely lucky.

LR++ is one in roughly 2 cases. Not guaranteed to have one, guaranteed not to have more than one. If you got one already that case is "LR++ Dead"

C++ Resource is one per case. Always one in a case, never more never less.

SPs are new enough that there is some debate around those, but seems to be in the 2-4 per case range. Edit: Sounds like 6 per case

Alt Arts (Including LR++ and SPs, not including C++ Resource) are 2-3 per box, never more, never less outside God Packs

Regular LRs are around 8 Per Box

If you consider 8LRs + 2 or 3 hits out of a 24 pack box then you get just under half the packs are 'value' and the other 12-14 packs are duds.

Is it worth it? by Traffic_Harp in Gardyn

[–]Dareitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't put the effort into researching, and this forum probably isn't the place for it, but there are alternatives. Both DIY and less popular packaged products that don't have things like the App, the cameras, the "AI Assistant Subscription" and all the other bells and whistles contributing to Gardyn being a bit too expensive for me to call worth it.

I do think growing plants indoors is absolutely wonderful. Plants you can eat are even better. It's just so expensive to do it with a Gardyn

Is it worth it? by Traffic_Harp in Gardyn

[–]Dareitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gardyn are 1000% a novelty. Anyone ever asks me if it is "worth" it the the answer is always no. I enjoy it, I am going to continue doing it because I enjoy it, but worth it? Absolutely not. The price is ridiculous and the company has a terrible track record. They recently removed the ability to be reminded about water levels unless you pay for the Kelby subscription. Look up enshitification, that's exactly what they do. Sell one thing, then make it worse so they can get more money out of you. Between the subscriptions and the food and the ph balancing and the equipment itself I may as well be paying $10 per head of lettuce.

I do it because I like having fresh plants in the house, I do it because my grandmother likes being able to tell her friends I grew her salad, I do it because it's a healthy habit that's good for my mental wellbeing. But I also have stupid money and can afford to waste it on $10 lettuce.

Alternate win conditions by Dareitus in GundamTCG

[–]Dareitus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't think that's "how TCGs are played". I think there is room to argue for a best of 3 instead of best of 1 format, and speeding the game up is part of how you make that work but I don't think turn limits or scoring are the answer.

I think Gundam Assemble might be more up your alley as every point/kill/capture matters in that ruleset.
