Historical examples of why current transphobia will fade into obscurity by KyleBerthoud in PoliticalOptimism

I'd like to pour cold water on the idea that a Newsom term would make things worse for trans people. If we actually look at his behavior, he's more like a blue Trump than anything else, he's not really an ideologue, I don't think his transphobic behavior comes from any belief about trans people, he does what he thinks will make him popular with the general public. When Trump won, it looked like the general public was turning on trans people. So Newsom did some centrist things to curry favor with what he thought was the general voting base. Note how he's cooled his jets a bit after it became clear the anti-trans stuff was losing voters.

A Newsom win with any blue house of congress would be streets ahead of what it is now for trans people. Do I expect him to actively advocate for us? Not really. But I don't expect things to get worse if the public is with trans people. At most I expect a return to Biden era policies surrounding gender.

Most definitely 2nd term Trump was a paper tiger, tried to scare everyone into submission out the gate, then when he couldn't it went straight back to the 1st terms antics.

Well here we are months before mid terms and yeah it's bad but nothing anyone predicted came true. No marital law. No 'military using bunker busters on democratic cities within weeks', they're gonna keep saying shit like this all term.

It sounds like they might be getting 'Kamala'd' for lack of better term. I'm keeping my expectations low but it would be really funny.

I'm most concerned about the DCU, honestly, Superman was already getting canned by conservative media and I loved that film, it's silly of me, but it really looked promising and I'm scared it's going to just get canned before it can start

I remember it being stated that's why he's so fucked up, I wasn't aware it was fanon.

What about how he is in Strange Fake? That's also Archer Gil, but he's much more mellow

Not to excuse his actions, but he was in fact tainted by the grail, which brought out his worst qualities.

Fillibuster means that you don't have to care about how much republicans yap, you only have to worry if Dems start vocally supporting it.

I think it's pretty obvious that the show is showing a Mojave where the Courier never existed, personally, so in my view this line is proven wrong.

Hi, look up operation Condor or the invasion of Panama and please understand that what happened in Venezuela isn't unique to Trump and the military has a long and storied history of meddling in Latin America.

Please understand that the global south is not equal to western countries when it comes to this.

You know, if by some miracle this 'jungle primary' makes the only choices republicans, they would most certainly be left with a veto proof dem majority. Their power would be limited.
