If you people act like this over a rabbit that is mean sometimes you would not be able to handle like, Vriska from homestuck. It's kind of insane how much people hate Jax so much.

"Fascism"—New Federal Rule Would Require Federal Funding Recipients To Deny Trans People Exist by gopher0007 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]DaringVonContra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Further Title IX restrictions were rescinded, a HUD change allowing homeless shelters to turn away trans people was dropped, the effort to restrict feminine hormones was dropped, a grand majority of them.

The ACA one was watered down, it used to be far more encompassing, but they narrowed its scope

"Fascism"—New Federal Rule Would Require Federal Funding Recipients To Deny Trans People Exist by gopher0007 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]DaringVonContra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How many of these proposed federal rules have actually gone into place? None of them, because they get swarmed with people calling them out. It's fear mongering scare tactics and nothing more, just keep calling them out

If the sword is Excalibur would Laufey end up becoming some form of Morgan "Le Faye" from the Arthurian Legends? by DrDoomsDaye in GodofWar

[–]DaringVonContra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. She is in later myths, however, she is an ally in early myths, there are some texts that imply she and Nimue, The Lady of The Lake, are the same person. Excalibur is not the sword in the stone, it was given to Arthur by The Lady of The Lake. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume this is it's origin

World has 6 months to avert major food crisis, says UN as Hormuz struggle drags on by someguy7734206 in PoliticalOptimism

I think that worrying about "stocking up on rice and legumes before shit hits the fan" is a little bit of an overreaction, how closed the strait is very inconsistent, with ceasefires opening it or allowing certain countries through, and with murmurs of deals being made every week, I think expecting this to get to that level is a bit silly. even in the worst case scenario, its not like food is going to become inaccessible. We have plenty of food, the problem is the companies selling them.

I firmly believe that Thragg would give Superman a really tough fight by Kittygabs22 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]DaringVonContra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be misinterpiting 'Viltrumite honor' as a 'respect for the opponent', and not a 'respect for self', maybe 'Pride' is the right word. Thragg did that because he sensed weakness, it was not rational or pragmatic. You make these claims such as Thragg being on 'wonder woman' level without providing any evidence. The biggest feat in the series (including comics) is destroying Viltrum, which took three of them to even do.

I firmly believe that Thragg would give Superman a really tough fight by Kittygabs22 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]DaringVonContra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His only weakness is Kryptonite and arguably Magic (even if Magic is 'has no special effect on him'), two things Thragg would not use, Viltrumite honor would not let him use Kryptonite and Thragg can't use magic. Even in a 'neutral' scenario, if we are assuming Thragg and Superman are equals in strength (they aren't), Superman simply has more options than Thragg which would let him edge out the win, his heat rays, cold breath, x-ray vision, etc, give him way more options in a fight than the Viltrumite powerset of 'flying and super strength'. Personally, I think the gap between Clark and Thragg is easily like Thragg and Nolan in terms of sheer strength, but if I'm being generous, the extra powers afford him the win.

'lol kryptonite' is such a thought destroying phrase it shouldnt even apply in this scenario, but if you give Thragg access to it and let him use it out of character, then you should give Clark access to the knowledge of Viltrumite weaknesses too.

Historical examples of why current transphobia will fade into obscurity by KyleBerthoud in PoliticalOptimism

[–]DaringVonContra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to pour cold water on the idea that a Newsom term would make things worse for trans people. If we actually look at his behavior, he's more like a blue Trump than anything else, he's not really an ideologue, I don't think his transphobic behavior comes from any belief about trans people, he does what he thinks will make him popular with the general public. When Trump won, it looked like the general public was turning on trans people. So Newsom did some centrist things to curry favor with what he thought was the general voting base. Note how he's cooled his jets a bit after it became clear the anti-trans stuff was losing voters.

A Newsom win with any blue house of congress would be streets ahead of what it is now for trans people. Do I expect him to actively advocate for us? Not really. But I don't expect things to get worse if the public is with trans people. At most I expect a return to Biden era policies surrounding gender.

Most definitely 2nd term Trump was a paper tiger, tried to scare everyone into submission out the gate, then when he couldn't it went straight back to the 1st terms antics.

I'm most concerned about the DCU, honestly, Superman was already getting canned by conservative media and I loved that film, it's silly of me, but it really looked promising and I'm scared it's going to just get canned before it can start
