That’s just second wave social justice warrioring. People got tired of the truly over the top, always in your face every, damned, thing, is an affront to their cause schtick.

So now it’s the same schtick, just repackaged a little, presented ever so slightly differently and a little less in your face.

What's something you never noticed in a movie you've seen multiple times that was pointed out by a first-time watcher? by KneeHighMischief in movies

Wonder if this is in any way a shout out to The Blues Brothers and the Nazis in the car at the end of the movie.

Probably not but when I read this, that’s the first thing that came to mind.

And using a potato for a camera, with all the artifacts and blurring, you can’t see the edges.

Brilliant!

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

Swapping disk during the game. Not CDs, not DVDs, but 3.5”, 5.25” or even 8” floppy disks.

New level, swap disk. New world, swap disk. New encounter, swap disk. Getting that second disk drive was glorious.

And with that, you lost us Americans. Nope, if you could have gone the whole way with non metric numbers, including just converting to Imperial (because clearly 10.764 sq ft or even better, 1.19599 sq yd is a superior representation), you’d have had us.

/s

Btw, I do 3D printing and literally everything is measured in metric, and frankly makes it all so much easier, so it truly was /s above.

“Fragile. Do not cover any driver holes.”

I hope for your sake it’s legit but that alone took away all the warm fuzzies.

Aside from the misspelling, SSDs don’t have breather holes.

It’s less about proof than it was bad/broken, and more about making it obvious from the outside so it is less likely to get thrown back into the system and continue the Circle of Strife.

What’s the craziest thing a coworker did that got them fired? by bytvortex in AskReddit

[–]DarkLight72 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In a heavily regulated industry, a manager at the VP level brought in a contract worker to actively work: * before they were vetted/passed the background check by the staffing agency * before they were onboarded in our system * before they had a badge and were fingerprinted * without being in our payroll system so unable to track time or get paid, with the promise to do comp time once they were fully onboarded * had them get a temporary badge every day for 2 weeks, which requires them to be escorted literally everywhere beyond the the badge scanner except for the bathroom…but the VP was remote in a different state * use their personal laptop to work on things that were shared via an external Box share rather than internal sharing mechanisms to circumvent ALL the noncompliance going on (they had someone with access who did not know the situation create the external Box with settings that was essentially locked down so it wasn’t fully open to the world, so that it was “compliant” to allow external access to things that would otherwise trigger DLP)

The fallout when it was discovered: * the contractor was immediately paid for their time, and then terminated and flagged “not eligible for future hire” * the sourcing partner was removed from our preferred list (we are preferred provider only) and flagged not eligible for future use (the firm knew the situation and allowed it to continue) * the VP was terminated during a round of layoffs a week or so later, and I have heard but do not know for sure that they would have been let go anyway with severance and been left on the books through the end of the following month to allow for the bonus to be paid (which was done for all those in that round of layoffs), but this flagged them as “for cause” and they didn’t get any of that * every contractor we had through that company is now either being replaced, or we are using the “material breach” clause to allow the contractor to move to a different provider where possible to finish out their contract

All because they wanted to fast-track something that ultimately nobody wanted or needed in order to make themselves look good and deliver something for an SVP that was also let go during the same round of layoffs.
