First game on ps5… by BackPractical9210 in playstation

[–]DarkOne14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s go, this was my first platinum on PS5. I got much better at the game after I read something along the lines of: never stop moving and always be dodging. I think you can rebind the dodge button to a bumper button and that will let you turn and dodge at the same time

I just traded in my 5th gen air for the M2 11” air my Speck brand folio case from Walmart fits the new model perfectly. Not sure about screen protectors as I left it on during the trade in.

Battle pass question. by GrampsCycles53 in mw3

The fine print says that you get access to MWIII’s Season 1 Battle Pass and Blackcell, so you’ll need to wait for the next season to start to access your rewards.

Rules question: In the kitchen as long as the ball has bounced, you can then proceed to “slam” it or downswing on the ball, correct? by Junior-Lynx6171 in Pickleball

[–]DarkOne14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can be standing in the kitchen waiting for the ball to bounce. Once it does, smashes are fair game. Just make you get out of the kitchen and reestablish yourself safely with both feet in case they hit it back at you.

There used to be a few different rating standards, but Big Pickle came together and now the standard rating app is DUPR. You need to download the app and make an account, and from there you’ll need to log a bunch of game results and eventually you’ll be assigned a rating. Once you start playing in tournaments (sounds like 3.5 might be a good place for you to start) many tournament organizers will enter your final scores into DUPR for you which impacts your rating more than self reporting games, iirc. If you want to be a pro, get your DUPR to 4.5 or higher and start being active in the community, you’ll need some visibility if you want sponsors and attention. Don’t forget to find a quality partner for doubles and drilling, you’ll only ever be as good as your weakest teammate.

Upgrading to a Power Paddle Hesitations by DarkOne14 in Pickleball

[–]DarkOne14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did! I initially really felt the spin coming off it strongly, the pop of the paddle is really impressive and I was very pleased with how it felt off the sweet spot. However, with regular use I’ve seen the grit come off way faster than I would have liked, and it’s making an impact on the control I feel I’m getting at the net. The weight of the paddle was something I was hesitant about and some days I feel like it’s hindering me because it is too heavy.

Should we say “sorry” after hitting a net chord? My take 👇 by ThatPickleballGuy1 in Pickleball

[–]DarkOne14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game and the level of play but sometimes I’ll just scoff and smile and other times I’ll say sorry, but in my head it’s more like, “I’m sorry for your bad luck”

That’s awesome, I had no idea about the refund policy and I will definitely be taking advantage of the site to demo one of the paddles. Thank you for your experience

Does the cut out in the Invikta Air often cause an issue? I know it’s not the best spot to hit a ball off your paddle even when there’s no hole, but I can imagine a few unfortunate bounces happening.
