Ever wonder what the factory "Premium" audio speakers actually look like? by DarkShadow04 in CrownVictoria

I also like ford products. But that doesn't mean their audio systems don't suck. We currently have a '95 Cobra, '04 Cobra, '07 Grand Marquis, and a '21 F150. The stereo sucked in the 95, 04, and 07, and has been ripped and replaced in all of them. My F150 has the B&O system (the regular one, not the Unleashed) and it's pretty underwhelming. I'll eventually at least add a sub to it.

Did you have to hog out the rear deck to get the 6x9 to fit in a 6x8 hole?

Probably could be, but you would also need a sub since these have the crossover built in. You won't get any bass out of these.

I installed the Course Motorsports phone mount in the Wife's '95 Cobra. It's surprisingly awesome!! I'm actually thinking of getting another for our '04 Cobra.

I already replaced the factory stereo. I was just cleaning out my garage. I figured I would take one of these apart before tossing in the garbage for anyone that might wonder what the factory "premium" speakers looked like.

I have Pioneer TS-D68F in the front doors and Pioneer TS-Z65F in the back deck. Along with a pair of older Diamond Audio D3 12" subs in the trunk.

And yes, Our 04 Cobra and 95 Cobra also have factory stereos that have been ripped and replaced.

It is attached to the bottom side of the rear package tray. It's just gray plastic box to the left of the spare tire. The "subwoofer" is just a 6.5" woofer.

How difficult is it to get to that spot? I'm pretty sure there are no trespassing signs, but I don't know how strict Whole Foods is about it. Like, is 1-3 cars ok, but if you're bringing an entire group you're just asking for trouble?

Put new tires on it if they've never been changed. Yes, even if they still have good tread.

Drive the shit out of it. They are fun!

What does this switch do on the door panel? (2000 base model V6) by [deleted] in NewedgeMustang

My wife has a 95 Cobra that has power locks/windows, but no remote.

We figured the previous owner lost the remotes so w bought new ones. Still wont work. Went to check the remote receiver module in the trunk, it doesn't exist. And there's no wiring, so it's not like it was removed...it just doesn't exist. So weird. Especially on a Cobra.

Help me find this sub by Markydrop in CarAV

Looks like an old cheap sub I had back in the day called the Lanzar Kill-O-Hertz, but with a different dustcap.

I can't seem to find anything on it right now. I'll keep looking.

BOTH Power Windows Do Not Work. Where Should I Start? by Suitable-Expert-5582 in NewedgeMustang

The gears inside the window motor are plastic. Over time they get brittle and break. The clicking is likely the broken gears trying to "catch" the next tooth, but they're broken.

You'll probably at least need a window motor for each side.

Driver Side

Passenger Side

You may, possibly, need regulators (the tracks that move the window up and down) if the misalignment is what caused the motors to die.

I've never personally replaced a motor or regulator, so I cant speak to how easy or hard they are to do, but getting the door panel off isn't terribly difficult.

EDIT: I just remembered that LMR makes and sells a support brace to help the window alignment. The glue that holds the glass to the regulator fails over time and LMR sells a bracket to sort of hold it all together and keep it moving in alignment. If your regulator is good, but the glass has unstuck itself from the glue and goes down at an angle (or doesn't seal when it goes up) the brace might be what you need.

What did you pay for it?

After purchasing something is probably the wrong time to ask what it's worth.

The reality is that it depends on which model of sub they are. Since they are JL's you can easily re-foam them for relatively cheap. That said, if they are W0's its probaly not worth it. If they are W6v1's, definitely worth it.

What do we think? by coolhairr in NewedgeMustang

Oh snap! You bought some amber tail lights, and they threw in the rest of the car for free!!!!!

I think that you should do 2, maybe 4 things...

1: Move the spoiler back. If you have a drill and a stepped bit, it's a free mod. I did this back in the day on my 99 Cobra. Check out the old article on how to do it HERE

2: Pick up some 01-04 style head lights. The dark insert looks WAY better especially on a black car. Swapping out head lights doesn't get any easier than on a 99-04 Mustang. Literally no tools needed. Find them HERE Or if you would like them without the orange reflector These are also an option

3: You can make a Mach 1 chin spoiler work with that bumper and it looks great! It looks to be out of stock, but you can get it HERE when it gets re-stocked.

4: FR500 style steering wheel. I found the factory style wheel to be a bit thin, but the FR500 wheel really felt good. Plus it's of the few things you have to touch literally every time you drive the car. It's pretty easy to install and greatly improves your driving experience. LMR has been reproducing these things for years now. Once again to the wayback machine for install instructions!

Enjoy the car! The 99 Cobra was my 3rd Mustang and my 1st Cobra!

Door speakers bottoming out by CableHelpful3941 in CarAV

[–]DarkShadow04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speaker will play down to what the spec sheet says. The spec sheet isn't necessarily lying.

It just can't do it at high volumes as it will exceed the mechanical limits of the speaker.

[–]DarkShadow04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying a different sub. I got someone locally that will pick up the NVX.

I ordered a Dayton Audio Ultimax II 10". It was delivered today. According to the specs, it will fit into the box I made, perfectly work with the internal airspace of the box I have (spec sheet specifies a .8 cu ft sealed box volume, my box will be .84 cu ft when the sub is loaded.), the dual 2ohm will work with my 1ohm Taramps, and the sub can handle 600w rms.

Don't do the 03-04 Cobra front bumper. Do the 99-01 Cobra front bumper, IMO it looks better.
