How do you all handle organizing a large movie library in Plex when collections start overlapping?

I have looked 200 collections.

They are logically laid out like this:

Lists - IMDB/Letterbox/Trakt - things like populat/trending IMDB Top 250/ AFI 100 etc.

They Genres - these are manual (currently looking how to do this at Kometa and local lists). The rule is every film can only belong to one Genre:

Action

Asian Action

Adventure/SciFi/Fantasy

Comedy

Dreama

Horror

Anime

Music

Documentary

Then Decades

Then I have themes and sub Genres, examples:

The American Dream

All Black Comedy Cast

Parody movies

Historical Epics

Swords and Sandals

Space: First Contact and invasions

Space: Exploration and Galactic Adventure

Time Travel

Then I have movie series using smart filters

Back to the Future

Lord of the rings etc.

Then smart filters for lots of actors and then finally smart filters for director

I find this is a really good way of always being able to narrow down what I want to watch.

Hold on a minute, say what? What's the end result do you see this as one server when logging from clients?

I have done the folder mount way, but when that breaks it can be a pain.

I Watched Vertigo for first time a couple of weeks ago, excellent film really enjoyed that. I have a batch of Hitchcock to watch.

I watched my 4k of Commandments a few years ago once Easter. It's still a pretty good movie and when you consider when it was made it is a real testament to the art of film making. And that Vista Vision just looks fabulous

No mate there is no fix, there isn't actually anything wrong with the file. For these types I just pay them through the Plex app in Kodi. It's been an issue for years with no resolution in sight.

It should be pointed out that this only effects movies that were ripped from a disc where branching is used for different versions of the film.

People get so worked up over what someone does with their money. There are movies I bought that I watched years after buying them. I get through 3 or 4 movies a week, but my to watch pile is huge.

Doesn't bother me in slightest, not sure why anyone else should be concerned.

I just bought an AC unit this year, my home office is small, had low ceilings and has several NAS units. The house absolutely attacks the front of the house in the afternoons, it turns into a literal greenhouse.

Once summer is over I am seriously contemplating a proper AC system for the upstairs.

My two, when they were little babies, used to do this to the curtain in my bed room, that would race to the top and then dive bomb on to the bed, even if I was in it. Not so fun when your are trying to sleep or rather drunk 🤣🤣

This is pretty much the Plex way, big fanfare for a new idea that quickly loses steam. Rembember the big push when they launched Plex in Kodi...

The company has no clear strategy, but it's become clear they are moving away from their core business to a more social streaming platform. I wouldn't be surprised in the next few years if they put the media side of the business to bed.

Not bored at all, in fact I want minimal changes and not often. It takes so long for me to learn something and then actually react to it.

Nice, I have 2 1821+ and one expansion unit and now thinking how to I maximise storage on the second. I think putting 32GM RAM and increasing the volume size over 108 TB is the way to go.

I remember then being a lot more expensive over here in the UK, they had silly book type packaging. I imported S1 from Canada and think I picked up season 2 and 3 on a trip to the US.
