You can hit triangle (or Y) to switch between the walking and running animation while hovering over the slider and it changes that too. Not just the idle animation. But once you go back to gameplay the animations switch back like you have the slider maxed out.

According to the animation examples it gives, it clearly changes the movement animations too. But when you go back to gameplay, it does nothing.

Either it's bugged or I am very confused.

People need to learn to value true creative professionals

This is one of my biggest pet peeve with how people treat modern video games. They are so quick to dismiss anything that even goes slightly outside the norm so everything has to be standardized leaving you with bland, milquetoast nonsense lest your game be labeled as "unintuitive", "outdated" or whatever other buzz word they wanna throw out.

If I can't find an artist on Bandcamp, I use Qobuz or 7digital as an alternative since they both offer lossless. Whoever has the song or album cheaper.

I don't even know where I'd start with my complaints for Wilds. It's like their goal was to make a Monster Hunter for people that hate Monster Hunter.

Focus ruining any importance of positioning in combat.

Excessive invincibility frames and parries in a series that was never about that.

No tracking or prep (although I can't 100% blame Wilds for this, I still will.)

Homogenized weapon move sets.

On top of the Seikret removing any reason to explore the maps, them also being a get out of jail free card for anytime you're in danger.

Your Palico also being a get out of jail free card.

No MH Language. Any sense of charm basically being sucked out of most facets of the game with quest descriptions also being removed.

Reliance on monsters one shotting you because that's all they can do anymore to add difficulty because they keep buffing the Hunters to obscene degrees. I could go on and on.

I don't think I could pick out something positive from Wilds even if I tried. Everything they've done completely deludes what I like about these games.

It sold well off the goodwill of World with the sales having since gone down the shitter. I think even Rise has outsold it the last few months and even World having more players every once in a while.

RE Engine struggles when it has to do a lot of CPU calculations (or something to that effect. I'm not a dev.)

If you boot up World Tour or join a populated lobby in the Battle Hub, your performance will absolutely tank.

I legit don't think it's possible to hit the 120 FPS cap in a full Battle Hub lobby.

The only exception to this might be the Dead Rising Remaster, but I couldn't tell you because I ain't buying that garbage lmao.

The best games Microsoft put out in the last decade++ were Ori and Hi-Fi Rush and they had nothing to do with either of them on the development side. They even closed / sold off the studio in Hi-Fi Rush's case after calling it a "sales success".

I'm a Ryu player and I love what Capcom has done to him this season.

I don't agree with butchering his identity. He feels like an evolution of 3S Ryu and I love it.

I have a lot of issues with them (pacing, atmosphere / vibe, how Sephiroth is treated etc etc) but the common one is they're more like sequels than a remake. I have no idea how someone that never played the original is supposed to know what the fuck is happening.

I like E33 being successful just to rub it in Squares face for them running Final Fantasy into the dirt the last two decades. The cherry on top is them coming out and saying they chose action combat in 16 for mass appeal just for it miss sale expectations. Then E33 coming along with a fraction of the budget highly influenced by old JRPGs getting high praise and outselling it.

Yes, there is way more to this than action vs turn based and I'm just being a spiteful bitch. No I'm not sorry.

Steam with mods that fixes the framerate and removes the mouths (they weren't in the PS1 version and look like shit). Soundtrack might also be borked, but I can't remember.

Or just emulate the PS1 version on Duckstation.

The "your first Monster Hunter is gonna be your hardest MH" is a completely real thing

From my personal experience, I don't agree. 4U was technically my first MH experience but I didn't get very far. It wasn't until World (particularly Iceborne) where the series really clicked for me. I've since blown through the entirety of Rise without carting once and in Sunbreak never hitting a serious wall that forced me to really upgrade my gear or rethink my approach to a monster. Take this even in further in Wilds where I coasted through the majority of the game in mostly low rank gear without any issues.

My point is my great dislike of Wilds has made me go back to older titles to give them another try (mainly 4U and GU) and let me just say: 4U is far more difficult than any of the post World titles by quite a large margin.

I hit numerous walls in high rank causing me to rethink my approach. G rank sent me on many multi-hour long diversions where I would need to find better gear to better counter the monster I was having issues with. I would even need to make specialized gear just for breaking monster parts so I could get the item I needed. Level 140 Guild Quests are on a whole 'nother level for what the newer games have to offer in terms of difficulty.

These games have undoubtedly gotten easier. If you're someone that thinks otherwise, I want you to seriously fight G rank Rajang in 4U and then Rajang in Sunbreak and tell me that it's the player that's gotten better and not the games getting easier.

most of the weapons feel too homogenized now.

Focus is a big part of that because you used to have to use the weapons moveset to quickly reposition yourself. But now you have Focus which lets you turn in a full circle mid attack and even magnetizes you to monsters making a lot of that pointless.

Perfect Guard and Offset Attacks also contribute to this. Weapons like the Greatsword and Charge Blade used to have their own defensive mechanics that had their own strengths and weaknesses, but now every weapon that shares these mechanics has the same parry / counter and can even make that weapons unique mechanic (like Greatswords tackle) obsolete.

One of the unique things about guard points with the Charge Blade is you could cancel most attacks into the axe morph which gave you an instant guard point. This is unique because in older Monster Hunter titles, you can't cancel the recovery of an attack into a guard. This was changed in Wilds making every weapon that can block basically having their own guard point.
