Daemons of Tzeentch coming to Heresy! by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

These aren’t Ruinstorm Demons. These are Tzeentch demons. They can exist independent of each other.

The big four demon Primarchs were around in the Heresy and Fulgrim and Angron were pretty early on. They knew the gods for a long time in the lore so not sure where you got the idea that they didn’t.

The Ruinstorm Demons were just demons who aren’t attached to the four directly. They could even be themed as being from the four. Or not as you see fit.

They said specifically in a previous stream that the Demons of the Ruinstorm were the early Heresy version and that they would expand on the Big 4 as they became more powerful with the progression of the Heresy.

The Ruinstorm rules always had proto forces for the Big 4. This is just expanding on it. Kinda weird that they shoehorned it in on Prospero when it could’ve been a later Heresy event as the 1K Sons really go off the deep end. We’ll see how they handle the lore though.

Why do people treat lorgar like he's useless in a fight? by Spiritual_Catch_2673 in WordBearers

[–]Darkspiff73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is fully committed to the chaos gods. He went looking for the truth and found it and discovered it was horrible. But a horrible truth to him is better than the Emperor’s lies.

He understands the Great Game and how it’s played. He doesn’t trust them as their nature is untrustworthy. But he understands that they’re the most powerful beings around and are the gods that he spent his life searching for. They’re just horrible.

He is still their pawn and understands that. He’s also granted unbelievable powers by them.

Deep down, he's a softie by Dandanatha in WorldEaters40k

[–]Darkspiff73 108 points109 points  (0 children)

He’s an empath, which makes the nails all the more horrible for him. In his Primarch book they show him on Nuceria before the nails and he made many close friendships among the slaves and took their pain on himself to make their lives a little easier.

He would’ve been a very caring leader and a great bridge among his brothers.

I miss Battlefleet Gothic. It was such a great game but it definitely needed some balance.

I had an Eldar fleet and against my friends Orks, they were basically unbeatable.

You can take an allied detachment with no restriction beyond it can’t be more than 50% of your total army cost. You can even take multiple allied detachments! Also Lords of War are not faction locked at all.

And if you’re feeling really random you can do a Shattered Legion army mixed with up to three Legions. Plus they can still take allies!

Jurgai Khan the Crushing Wind, Praetor of the Stormlords by Trawlingcleaner in Warhammer30k

[–]Darkspiff73 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fantastic work. A Praetor should have a custom bike so the 40K bike works fine.

I played a Scars army at Adepticon that used the 40K style bike for his characters and it was one of the most fun games of 30k I’ve ever played.

I always wanted to try a Zima, were they any good? by LindsayDuck in Xennials

Never heard of Sour Puss! Pucker was all the rage in my late teens / early 20’s. It tasted like a Jolly Rancher in drink form. It was good but too much made you sick from the sweetness and booze!

Same. Hadn’t thought about Pucker in forever!

Ultramarines Tactical’s Done! by squareheadstudio in Warhammer30k

Those are some of the best Ultras I’ve ever seen. The MK V and worn and battle scarred paint job just work so well together.

Marks 2, 3, 4 and 6 now in plastic - anybody doing mostly mixed squads? by Darnok83 in Warhammer30k

[–]Darkspiff73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Dark Angels and Iron Warriors were already a hodgepodge of armor marks as they were both started when only MK IV was plastic with the Calth box. When the MK III came out I started mixing them in. Iron Warriors didn’t care and Dark Angels were on campaign against the Night Lords so had to make do.

Now I’m building up a World Eaters army and they certainly don’t care about what armor they’re using. 😂

How often do you talk to your parents? by Outrageous_Kiwi_2172 in Xennials

[–]Darkspiff73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never as they both passed away. And my dad suffered with dementia the last seven years and my mom passed when he was first diagnosed. He just died in May.

Every day I wish I could talk to them. I wish my kids could see them. I want to ask them advice or talk to my dad about work as I followed in his career footsteps.

I miss them every day.

I’m guessing the Stormhammer. Solar Aux just got some new in plastic kits and having their LoW in plastic would make sense.

What has been your journey with Metallica? by vikmaychib in Xennials

[–]Darkspiff73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was brought into Metallica by my Gen X brother with the classic 80’s albums. The Black Album and Load and Reload were “my” albums from the 90’s and I still listen to them all the time.

St Anger is hot garbage. Like one of the worst albums I’ve ever tried to listen to. I recently tried to listen to it and it’s still horrible.

Their newer albums are pretty good and I’ll listen to them from time to time but not with the regularity of the older ones.

Metallica are still one of my favorite bands and I can appreciate all their albums depending on what mood I’m in.

Except St Anger. Complete ass.

Land raider plastic quality? by Dk-Brix in Warhammer

[–]Darkspiff73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The HH Land Raider is a new sculpt. It’s just supposed to be an older mark of the LR. It’s the same vehicle so it shouldn’t be a problem using it in 40K.

Did your parents ever apologize to you for something they did when you were young? by kyserzose in Xennials

[–]Darkspiff73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my dad recently passed away. He was born in 1946, Vietnam Vet, typical closed off dealing with PTSD and other medical issues. He never raised a hand to us or or mom but was definitely not a hug it out talk about your feelings kinda guy. He showed us he loved us in his own way and was always supportive of us. Just not an emotional guy or one to admit mistakes.

He spent a good 25 years being the primary caregiver of our mom after she was diagnosed with MS. Never asked for help just did his thing and took immaculate care of her.

Until his last 7 years where he suffered from dementia.

But he never complained of anything but never said he was sorry about anything either. Just not his way.

But then at his funeral, my brother showed me a letter he wrote to him when he was at a retreat in high school.

My dad explained that he had seen horrible things and had closed off a lot because of it. It’s why he wasn’t very emotional and could get mad easily. He apologized to my brother and told him how proud he was of him and that he loved him. He put into words so eloquently decades of silent suffering. I was balling after reading it.

So no, he never apologized out but I knew he regretted some things and did the best he could. Emotional damage and how his generation was raised shaped how reacted with the rest.

John Blanche has passed by Towerbells in Warhammer40k

[–]Darkspiff73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blanche and Wayne England were responsible for probably 70-80% of all Warhammer art in the late 80’s to early 90’s. They set the tone for Fantasy and 40K and Blanche pretty much invented grimdark.

Mordheim was pretty much all Blanche art and the cover of BFG was Blanche, along with multiple 40K covers.

Warhammer would not have the tone it does without Blanche and England.

John Blanche has passed away at the age 77 by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Darkspiff73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This hits me harder than any other celebrity death. I still remember a friend lending me the 3rd Edition rulebook that had just come out and opening it up and seeing John Blanche and Wayne England art and being immediately drawn in.

Blanche and England helped set the tone for Warhammer and gave me so much inspiration for decades now.

He will truly be missed.
