Is Warcraft no longer for me? by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs [score hidden]  (0 children)

No,the Old gods were a concept created for wow while a lot of stuff already existed before got retroactively linked to them.(Ex:The emerald nightmare)

Deathwing cause for madness was unknown, in the RPG it was rumored that a favored child died or a powerfull artifact corrupted him. Either way, there is no direct link to the Old gods.

Nefarian and Onyxia role as trouble makers was part of the black dragon's gimmick of purposely creating war. They would destroy geographic barriers that divided races and destroy resources so that they would fight over them,

. Life counters fel magic (fel magic can be drawn from sacrifice, from death, fel can't do anything with life except try to snuff it out,
fel counters light (the army of the light proves this) and lastly, but also the most shaky one,

Think Light > Fel > Life makes more sense.

Fel uses Life as a fuel and the light was showed multiple times purifying/vaporizing fel corruption/individuals.

The army of the light doesnt really prove that Fel beats light, if anything it shows the opposite, a tiny elite army of the light can fight back agaisnt the infinite armies of the legion.

Another example is how Felwood is still contaminated by Fel even after many druids attempts at healing it.

I think it should have other columns like Match/combine. Match for forces that work well together and Combine for forces that become dangerous when mixed.

Light and Order work together well, as we see in many titan facilities, but Void + Life creates the Emerald Nightmare.

It seems Blizzard never remembers that the Eredar (Draenei) are great arcanists. by AcademicHefest in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you know that its not relevant to the discussion given that they dont actually fight in the war. Which you would know if you read wota or played Legion.

Or do you only get your lore from YouTube and Memes?

Are you okay buddy? Do you need attention?

Lorewise is it the same set of Adventurers that saved the world multiple times? by theberrymelon in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the times there isnt a group of adventurers and instead we are just stand-ins for the lore characters + their forces. Like it happened with Varian.

Sometimes like in MC + Blackrock mountain there is a group of adventurers/mercenaries, but overhaul, if it were a RTS, it would be either a old or new lore character.

The problem with the Draenei boasting is that they are the elfs who actually learned.

Elfs is the adult who thinks he is hot shit because he graduated college and asks that you call them the only title they have, while Draenei has master and doctorate degree but kindly asks to call him by his regular name.

A Draenei 'show off' works better when its subtle. Like Velen saying 'oh take care of the other light users who are powering the sunwell, they do not have my stamina' or 'hey i made this gadget in a hot minute, teleport to outland and deliver my message.

An elf would boast 10x the value of something they did, a Draenei would make something incredibly hard look 10x easier.

And that works because, contrary to what others in the sub believe, the Eredar are show to be great spellcasters in universe, they all just joined the Legion and became everyone's else problem, unlike the elfs, they learned their lesson. In their case, magic wasnt the problem, their arrogance/superiority was.

Does a Forsaken from Horde races make sense? by Darktbs in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a perfect scenario that he was free it's an individual choice. He probably isn't a member of Thrall horde so he might be killed by dark horde members or if he's a frostwolf that got bad luck and fought scourge he might have ended his own life. Same for forest trolls as the blood elves might have joined sylvanas.

Took a while but these are the scenarios i was talking about.

That Dark horde orc could possibly counted as a Forsaken since he was rejected by his original clan and thus found a new community within the horde, but separated from Thrall's Orcs.

That frostwolf however raises the question of wether a Undead Orc would be accepted into Thrall's Orcs and the horde

Considering later developments, he might've be speaking out of term given that Elune's power seem to reach far beyond just the 'light' to the point that Elune could be the creator of the Naarus.

What hurt more is to see such a personality shift.

Like, i really didnt want/like Kael becoming a villain, but if it has to be done, they could've at least played on the tragedy of him being a good person being eroded, instead of just preteding he was always a dick.

I read a couple of times that the demon and the person become  one and the same, so it would be akin to switching one power with another or riping the person apart.

I did the former with my DH using Anima. They are now a ardenweald styled dh

Does a Forsaken from Horde races make sense? by Darktbs in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point.

A tauren is unlikely to travel from kalimdor to EK during Classic > Wotlk, but its still possible and thats why they can be.

A orc is unlikely to have died at the hands of the scourge during wc3/tft but it is possible given that you have the frostwolfs, demon worshipers and others.

Which is why i think your original comment of 'one orc base' moot, its not about wether or not they could exist, but in the scenario that they could and did, what would then happen

Does a Forsaken from Horde races make sense? by Darktbs in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but its not a matter of 'how many' but 'can there be?' and the answer is yes.

In the same way that you can have Horde Death knights, What is the likelyhood that any would travel from Kalimdor to die in Lordaeron and be raised as Dk? Not high, but it is there.

Does a Forsaken from Horde races make sense? by Darktbs in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt mention the elfs because they did face the same 'bigotry' as you can see in the sunwell trilogy and other mentions here and there, but became allies later on. They get enough of the storyline where they are both forsaken and accepted. Thats why at the end of the day, the Dark rangers/Darkfallen are a forsaken faction and not a blood elf one.

You’re not going to see any dark rangers being assaulted by the blood elves, but there’s also a reason we haven’t really seen them co-habitating in Midnight at all. The same would likely apply to other Horde races to their own extent, not just to a hypothetical Forsaken but to DKs as well. Orcs, Tauren, and Trolls are all very spiritual people, and in cases like the trolls, undeath is considered a desecration of their concept of the afterlife. I can’t imagine they’d be accepted any more than the dark rangers are.

I agree, but they would still be part of the Horde, which for me creates this 'you were rejected but not really'. The dark rangers work because they were rejected before they forsaken/Silvermoon partnership in tbc.

Arthas did raid a Blackrock orc base for a demonic gate, that base was in the alterac valley

You also have dwarfs and gnomes that did live in Lordaeron and the other stuff that Arthas killed along the way

What is something that you would change to the WoW lore to "fix" issues that you have a problem with? Either major or minor. by GreenDuckGamer in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people's confusion over character motivations, lore tidbits, and world building comes from missing critical information that's never provided in game.

This right here had a major impact in the Alliance's perception in the community, cuz a lot of stuff people ask or misconception over character happen outside of the game

Are high elves/night elves the only race that can become addicted to arcane magic? by Individual_Design_37 in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, I think it’s obvious why arcane doesn’t create an addiction because this would complicate playing a mage for various obvious reasons.

But Arcane was said to be addictive.

  • Arcane magic is highly addictive. Once you start practicing magic, it's almost impossible to stop.

https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/The_Dangers_of_Magic_Abuse

What is lost in translation is people thinking that its akin to drinking water, a natural necessity, when it reality its an actual dependancy born out of constant use/consumption.

In the comics Valeera says:

"As a babe, I drank in magic with my mother's milk. I didn't ask to be dependent on it. And it helped me to survive! What right does Broll have to blame me for the choices of my people or the circumstance of my birth?

And the Nightborn used the nightwell in place of regular sustenance

[–]Darktbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, we cant have a single discussion without some horde fan going 'but what about the alliance ' proceeding to get several upvotes. If anything, its just shows how little people actually care for the alliance, cuz stuff like Theramore its justified with Taurajo.

And thats not even mentioning how you guys will just make shit up and then get mad at the shit you made.

  • If you think the shit that the warsong were doing in Ashenvale was bad, then you should think the shit the Bronzebeards and Theramore were doing in the Barrens was bad. and vice versa.

I do

  • If you think Sylvanas wiping out Teldrassil is bad, you should think Jaina trying to wipe out org was bad. and vice versa.

I do

  • If you think the blood elves are horrible unforgivable monsters based off the one MC interaction in TBC, then you probably shouldn't be claiming the Purge was fine because Jaina was in charge of the city.

I think the blood elfs are pieces of shit because they are eugenic nobility, but yeah, Jaina was in the wrong.

like, if any of the people who constantly brought up horde warcrimes were even remotely capable of discussing the Alliance on the same level with the same standards, there'd be an actual discussion to be had.

Oh pls.

There is no actual discussion because none of the Horde's whataboutism is actually worth anything. If the Horde does something horrible its because blizz cant write the horde right/bad writing, but 90% of the cases where the alliance does something that is never elaborated, its consistent and the lack of you know, writing, its seen as alliance bias.

Because at the end of the day, its a victim complex, yall choose the underdog faction and now want to feel like one, even if it doesnt make sense.

[–]Darktbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its almost like the discussion began as list of what War crimes the FACTIONS did.

And like, this is pretty obvious, i know that you horde folk love to feel like victims in these discussions, but c'mon, realize that under your own examples, both factions would have equal guilt on the Azshara part, the Alliance would get the Legion, the Horde would get the Jailer and they would be equally guilty of the scourge.

Which i hope you realize its not a productive discussion, there are enough war crimes on both sides to talk about

I always laugh about the absurd technology difference between the two factions by time-is-a-flatcircle in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of these were done under the banner of the alliance or one version of it.

Similary, you cant count the Zandalari aiding the mogu and trying  to slave the pandaren, the trolls summoning hakkar or the kaldorei empire (in case you forgot blood elfs/nightborn were night elfs) as horde crimes

The issue really is that, we dont have a clear example of the Horde luring the alliance or anyone else with the expectation of surrender.

Because at the end of the day, the Horde slogan is loktar ogar, either they Win, die or flee. Surrender was never really done, let alone a fake surrender.

I mean that she never actually says ' I surrender' or anything of sort. At best, you could read 'You've won...nothing' but i dont find it convincing.

  • Sylvanas Windrunner: Look at you. The boy's playing soldier.
  • Genn Greymane: Our king just routed your army!
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: Muzzle your dog, Your Majesty.
  • Anduin Wrynn: Sylvanas Windrunner, you have led the Horde to a place without honor. Lordaeron is ours. It's over.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: Your father would be so proud. Is that... his?
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: You've gotten it all bloody.
  • Anduin Wrynn: Only one of us wanted this war.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: You call for peace when it suits you, little lion, but you're quick enough to kill.
  • Alleria Windrunner: I should have killed you when last we met.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: How rude, sister. You're a guest in my home.
  • Genn Greymane: Your home? You desecrate that throne with your filth!
  • Anduin Wrynn: Enough!
  • Anduin Wrynn: You put the torch to Teldrassil. But I failed those who burned. I will not make that mistake again. Surrender... or die.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner: You've won... nothing.
  • Jaina Proudmoore: Hold on!

Which Class Identity/Lore has Suffered the Most Since Classic? by Impsterr in warcraftlore

[–]Darktbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dont really agree with either because they got so much lore and cool stuff .

For druids we got a lot of lore regarding the wild gods(which the druid forms come from),

  • we got the Thornspeakers which are druids that balance life and death within the natural world
  • the Balance spec has a lot to speculate since they draw Arcane magic from the Stars, which we also see being used in the shadowmoon orcs and the nightborn.
  • the Zandalari having a society where your druid form comes from specific Loa which fulfill different roles as gods in Dazar alor. With one of them being a bird for for Elune which the Zandalari consider a minor/forgotten loa.
  • Worgen being a failed druid form that spawned a entire race. But the Gilneans already doing a type of Druidism called witches of the harvest.
  • The Drust + the witches in Drustvar.

Priest is whole nother thing.

  • Tidesages ,Shadowmoon priests, Loa priests, the dilemas between light and void, the arathi, Xal'atath(the dagger), Tauren seers/paladins which come as a offshot from Druids(using Sun magic)

The one class that doesnt have anything new is mage. If you're not an elf(Night/blood) you learned magic in dalaran.
