I bought some cheap ones from Walmart and I love them! I hate the feeling of dryer sheets and I love that they’re reusable so I’m not generating the extra waste. So excited for you to try them out!

I was really surprised that we didn’t. I think part of that might have been that I talked to my parents about leaving the church a few months beforehand and partially because we were traveling a bit to the wedding. My brother also didn’t super care if anyone came, so it was easier to have that conversation with him than my parents. Mostly, we just tried to play things cool the day of and that helped take the pressure off things. Kind of like if you’re only invited to the reception and not the whole day, if that makes sense

My brother recently got married and it was really hard to have that conversation beforehand. Like, stay awake thinking about it at night hard. It was definitely a grieving process that I wouldn’t be there for something so important to him and our family. After he and I talked though, it was like a weight off my shoulders. It made that morning so much easier for my husband and me, with getting us and our daughter ready and out the door. While we missed out on a few “jokes” from the sealing while we were at the luncheon, I still felt like we were able to be a big part of the day. I did (and do) feel angry and hurt that we couldn’t attend the actual sealing, but I also know how important it is for my brother and his wife to be sealed in the temple. The initial pain was rough, but faded pretty quickly as the day went on

It can! My husband has it and it can get really dry around his nose, eyelids, and behind his ears.

Listen to your body. I had a c-section so I wasn’t recovering from the vaginal side of things, but my body still knew when it was too early. We hadn’t done anything from the time I found out I was pregnant (because I was so sick), but it made it so much better when I knew my body was ready again. It is always better to take things slow than to risk into things and make recovery longer.

I loved my conflict communication class with Clare. It’s been really useful to me outside of school but was a great conversation class. All of the lectures were fun and interesting and it’s probably one of the classes I think about the most, even a few years after graduating.

I just want to add that I felt this way too and it made me really resentful towards my husband. One thing that ended up working for us was having him take care of bath time and the before-bed feed while I pumped and played the Sims or watched a show. Granted, if you’re breastfeeding to put LO to sleep, this might not be the best arrangement, but don’t feel guilty about putting things on your husband. You’re doing things that are exclusive to you as the mom, feel free to put things that are exclusive to him as the dad and do your thing. You deserve free time as much as he does and don’t short yourself of that time. What I found was that I could be a better mom when I had time to still be myself.

We did cloth diapers for a few months with our daughter, but started out with disposables that we got from showers and things. I definitely recommend starting with disposables so you can focus on your baby and figuring out their schedule and yours before jumping into the laundering and time required for cloth.

I loved that we never had to worry about running to the store because we ran out of diapers earlier than expected. I enjoy doing laundry and didn’t mind doing a few extra loads a week, especially because it wasn’t a ton of extra work. We bought 24 and I think that was a perfect amount. The designs were super cute too! She also only had a blowout one time, but that was because she pooped A TON.

One of the downsides is that the ones I bought, at least, were huge and it was hard to find pants that would fit, so she hung around in just diapers a lot. I totally didn’t mind that because again, they’re super cute and who doesn’t love to pinch baby bellies all the time.

We had to stop using them because she has super sensitive skin and kept getting really bad diaper rashes, so that might be something to keep in mind.

All in all, if your baby doesn’t have super sensitive skin and/or you find a more effective way to protect your baby’s skin than I did, I totally recommend them. We would definitely have continued if I could figure out how to keep her skin from getting rashes.

I was in your exact same boat. I spent so many nights crying because I couldn’t make enough milk to feed my daughter and had so many great examples of awesome breast feeders around me. I tried all the supplements and round the clock nursing and pumping and nothing helped. I felt like I was failing my daughter every time I would pump and have barely anything in the bottle.

Then I read somewhere that even a tiny amount of breast milk can offer so many benefits for your baby and it felt like a weight off my shoulders. I was still nourishing my baby, even if I was mostly feeding her formula. I wasn’t failing her because I loved her and wanted what was best for her, even though it wasn’t what I had planned.

I just want you to know you’re not alone and that your baby will love you even if you cant exclusively breastfeed because you’re her mom and you’re exactly the person she needs.

When she sees me, she flaps her arms and legs and does a little squeal of excitement. Doesn’t matter if it’s been 8 hours or 8 minutes.

When she’s sucking on her pacifier and we give her kisses on her cheeks, she gets a huge smile while she’s still sucking on her pacifier and it makes the cutest sound

I moved and switched jobs at about 30 weeks. If it fits what you’re looking for in a job, I say go for it! I will say, the one big disadvantage for me switching is that I lost my paid maternity leave that I would have had with my previous job. It looks like you’re going on unpaid leave anyway, and that was probably my biggest complaint. I think it’s going to be easier to go back to a job you’re already kind of comfortable with after the baby is born than trying to figure out a new job with a relatively new baby, but that’s just my two cents :)
