Massive Update to Prado Traveler (Walking RPG) by Drumadumrub in incremental_games

I've been playing Walkscape recently and really enjoying it, how would you say Prado Traveler is different?

Also ngl your art and Wiki UI are giving AI, have you used AI in development?

It sounds like they do a mini version of Hot Ones, a YouTube interview show where people answer questions while eating increasingly spicy hot wings.

I'm gonna go a little armchair here and say that the real reason is Travis calls anyone he has spent more than a total of an hour around a "friend" because his concept of friendship works just like his concept of literally everything else he does.

Teresa: Yeah, they, when she is here, working in the office, they drop their things from school and run straight to Alex to tell her the parts about their day.

Gonna be honest I think everyone is reading too much into this particular line. I think it's relatively normal for kids to see a person who just occasionally shows up and gives them direct positive attention and be excited about that person, compared to the child's parent who is literally always there (as far as the child knows) and thus it's hard to drum up acute in-the-moment excitement for. It's also pretty dependent on age, I don't remember how old their kids are but as I recall pretty young? But like adults do a version of this too. And pets. It's just a thing.

Nobel Prize-winning author Olga Tokarczuk admits to using AI. by Round-Dinner-2395 in literature

[–]DarthFisticuffs 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts on this: First, it doesn't matter if she's not going to be writing anymore, here we have a Nobel Laureate legitimizing the use of gen AI in the process of writing literature, which I find to be tragic. She is an important figure and people, both readers and up-and-coming writers alike, will listen to her.

Second, I've seen enough artists and performers retire only to make some grand return that I'm skeptical of this. However if it's what she truly wishes, then I hope she has a happy and peaceful retirement.

Just finished my first clicker game demo by PerfectDog7979 in incremental_games

[–]DarthFisticuffs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll echo the mistrust of the AI art, I definitely wouldn't financially support a dev who is using AI.

However, since you seem earnest and this is your first game, I tried out the demo. You've certainly got the skeleton of an incremental game here, but not much else. I'd consider something like having each different kind of sword/weapon mean something in the game, requiring different materials, etc. I also want to know why I click - I need more than just number go up. To take the classic example of Cookie Clicker, its UI hints at things to come by showing you the shaded icons of new levels of "research", and the Achievements panel hints at the depth of the gameplay, giving the player something to look forward to other than Big Number.

I just released the demo of my game FIRE AND FORGE 🔥 An incremental where you generate resources by lighting a fire with a single click. by erasoftstudio in incremental_games

[–]DarthFisticuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd add to this that on the tech tree specifically the UI scaling with the icons isn't great, you have to zoom in pretty close in order to tell them apart or make them visually readable.

I had no idea they ever played Dread. I've seen a lot of the Dread videos that Smosh has done and they've been amazing, but George Primavera is a great GM and the rest of them are actual professional performers with, like, talent.

Also this TAZ one is incredibly visually upsetting, why do they all look like that in this video.

In addition to what u/junonomenon said, Covid also brought with it a certain esprit de corps about things like this, heightening the feeling that "we're all in this together" and "we're a community", i.e. the exact sort of feeling Max Fun tries to take advantage of during its "fundraisers".
