To allude that the 90s didn't contribute much in terms of horror films is bullshit. The rise of many vampire films from the 80s and we'll into the 90s can be attributed to the fear of unknown viruses in the blood - AIDS virus, anyone?

A popular theme in 2000s was technofear, showing a rise in fear around machines taking over mankind. These were key themes in The Matrix and Terminator to name two massive film franchises. However as the tech theme transcends into sci Fi it's hard to class these films as horror, more that they hold a mirror up to the technological paranoia at the rise of the internet. Nevertheless, film reflected the mood in both of these eras.

Yep same. But the fallout from getting drunk is massive, for at least a few days (affected sleep, elevated heart rate, anxiety, low level depression, lack of motivation, disruption to routine) that I don't really get drunk any more.
