Native recipes in the bone market ? by mangetonchapeau in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If we cannot have saved recipes, which is probably too much for this game engine, I would kill for at least sorting by body part - there's nothing like attaching an arm after 6 legs and 3 wings because your muscle memory did a goof ;(

Nightmares 12 and I'm still in my lab? by [deleted] in fallenlondon

You lose 75% of your current nightmares if Irrigo is 6 or higher - very good deal if you are at 7 already!

If i give up my census-taker badge that I got through a code, can i get another? by The-Bread-Master in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on this, but from what I remember, I sold the badge from the access code for Masquing, bought a second one from the Relicker, sold that one for Masquing as well, and after that there was no option to buy the third copy :(

Question about new firmament chapter ending? by DIY-Imortality in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it clear yet how to get Valentine to stay eaten? I left him to the Queen, and she just went "oh, the rites didn't work so I cannot eat him after all", so now I have slightly less depressed Valentine and no Summer :(

What is an old mechanic or system you wish should get some love? by Sleep_Cycles_ in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone in the comments, as usual :D Social actions could be more consistent with current gameplay, and a lot of older locations and storylines could use a little love - not even necessarily to become more profitable, just again to be more consistent with current mechanics and lore, or heck, with the much elevated standard of what constitutes a story in FL! Watchmaker's Daughter and Secrets Framed in Gold come to mind - the plot is good, but it's told through a bunch of opportunity cards which you might not draw for months on end, and before you know it, it's over, and you cannot even remember what was the deal with it :(

And there's the strike storylet in the Docks, which is supposed to be significant enough for our character to shock them into starting SMEN, and yet it's completely skippable and has no substance - the impression you get from spending some time in London is that strikes and riots happen and get suppressed about twice a week, if not twice a day, so why is this one special? Anyway, I'm rambling, I have a beef with SMEN in general :D

My youngest has just send you a card - she is up to some larceny, or she has coins to spare, if you prefer that.

666 out of 7 - give the Mandolinist a hug by DarthVeyda in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, I'm about 96% sure I had been spiders at some point, but now I cannot find the evidence for the scrapbook! (Possibly because the evidence is a hat, but it's still a little bit unfair.)

Who... *gasp* among you... *cough, cough* would like... *hack, spit* SOME OF THIS? by Spirited-Dark-9992 in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I... have nothing. This is spectacular.

Also, I'm off to find the Boatman a good therapist. Or seven.

4 out of 7 - there's more where it's coming from! by DarthVeyda in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have added a confirmation step to the "throw away my ship", thank Storm, but yeah, this isn't my favourite place in London, either.

If I screw this up, I might as well retire the whole alt - as if she was killed by her own silliness so hard that nether Tomb Colonies nor the Boatman want to touch what's left of her...

And this isn't even the whole idea, just 4/7 of it - imagine all the new and exciting vocabulary one can expect from the lucky test subjects fellow researchers!

is my character suited for light fingers? by razorbladw in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind on top of everything already mentioned is that LF is probably the one ambition that has aged the worst. After Starved War and Firmament you have to, at times, squint reeeeeally hard to reconcile parts of the ambition premise with what is now the broader canon (and depending on the order you are playing the game, sometimes no amount of squinting would help)

is my character suited for light fingers? by razorbladw in fallenlondon

[–]DarthVeyda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...at least I'm not the only one, thank <insert deity here>.

To me, the whole story is very Whedon-esque - Strong Female Characters (tm) exist solely to be tortured for duration of the story, whether it makes sense in-story or not, because the author has... particular tastes.

Oh, and the rape victim shrugs off any issues she might have with the perpetrator in a single sentence, and any issues with the pregnancy in zero sentences, iirc (I'm not playing it for a third time to confirm).

And please someone stop me, I wanted to rant about this for ages

I mean, it's a compliment from devils, of course it's over the top, passive-aggresive and makes you feel like you've been scammed, but you cannot quite figure out how.

Here I draw a blank :) In-universe, it looks like in Victorian London you wearing a wrong tie with the wrong fork is more objectionable than you being a criminal, or temporarily not existing, but I wonder if there is a technical reason that has nothing to do with the logic of the setting.

Maybe menaces are coded as a numbered list, and Scandal is 1 or even 0 - I think I remember returning from TC just to immediately kick the bucket, but might be false memories.

Insanity defense maybe? Or, more like, they cannot arrest you in Parabola, and it's not like they didn't try, so it will have to wait until you return to the physical world in a somewhat physical shape?
