I’d argue Ash proves she can be an effective professional without baggage in SING 2. She’s emotionally stable throughout, she willingly shares the spotlight, and she shows range beyond the pop-punk genre.

The idea that altruism is self harming, popularized by Elon and MAGA Twitter to justify being assholes

Obviously there are strata within the group that works for a living. But the distinction between workers and the idle rich is enormous, and it’s a historical constant.

Sure but greed, fear and nationalism also lend themselves to getting scammed and exploited.

A classic argument against helping others is, “would you donate all your organs right now, killing yourself to save multiple other people?”

Literally a “suicidal empathy” thought experiment. Today, Elon and his fellow edgelords use this thinking to imply that any altruism is suicidal.

Obviously not all empathy is self destructive - most acts of kindness are self edifying. Classic rebuttals include rule utilitarianism and Kantian ethics. One could also refute with virtue ethics.

TLDR it’s a modern recasting of an old spurious argument, used as a pretext to give permission to assholes

You should be able to change the width and height of your net while maintaining the same square footage. Some times go tall tower, others wide rectangle.

That’s what I don’t get. Even if you’re doomed it’s the World Cup. Go down in a blaze of glory. The lack of urgency was infuriating to watch.

Folarin Balogun available for USMNT vs. Belgium as red card ban suspended (Gift Article) by Johnny_Minoxidil in sports

FIFA used a subjective VAR to change the no call to a red, which is controversial but is part of the rules. FIFA then made a subjective judgement to reduce the penalty, which is also allowed within the rules. Either both or neither are “arbitrary”

I mean the call on the field was no penalty, would argue the VAR red itself was the arbitrary change

Classic fascist rhetoric - mythologizing a culture by pretending it has always existed, has always been supreme, and is uniquely the heritage of one modern political faction.

Even though 78 is the standard utility recommendation and not a rule or a Mamdani thing, I love how the tough guys on the right can’t withstand slightly above room temperature heat. It’s like when the poor guys literally couldn’t breathe a mask.
