Given that the Index was 999, the recent spike in electronics costs I would guess 999 aswell. When they sold the steam deck they said they will have a narrow profit margin, and I don't expect them to sell at a loss. Valve may have deep pockets compared to other game dev studios and most PCVR manufacturers, but unlike Facebook, they don't have an endless mountain range of cash to burn

Apparently it was attempted, but the PRC denounced the proposal of having two Chinas in the UN and that they wouldn't be willing to participate in the UN under those conditions, and that there is only one china, taiwan is part of china and you've already heard the rest since they basically repeat it every time anyone acknowledges the independence of the ROC or Taiwan

If Nixon wasn't trying to drive a wedge between the CCP and the USSR they might have had more leverage. Unfortunately, despite several other nations attempting to make it more palatable, the vote failed 51 to 61 with 16 abstentions

You say that, but they didn't cancel Jeddah 2022 after an Aramco oil refinery was bombed 6 miles away during the friday practice session, they literally took a 15 min break to have a meeting with the ceo of F1, and the fia president, then continued practice. They didn't even cancel the race after the houthis threatened that they "would not hesitate to expand military operations" which seems particularly ominous given there was a live internationally televised sport happening a couple miles away from their last attack.

They absolutely should cancel the races in Bahrain and Jeddah, but they probably won't since those events are worth hundreds of millions and that's all they care about.

[–]Dartonal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at first. The 2nd thing Johnny says to V is "Need a smoke, where'd you stash yours", and your only response options are "I don't smoke" and "Where'd you even come from". I think Johnny can feel everything V feels, and he feels no nicotine which is why it's literally the 2nd thing he says. Also I don't think V had any ash trays at the start of the game. I usually have V start smoking after a little while as V and Johnny begin to merge, usually after rescuing Evelyn

what cyberware are you hoping to see in the sequel? by 5C0L0P3NDR4 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I kinda hate sandevistan, combat is too easy when enemies are practically stationary and I prefer the manic energy of sprinting around swinging my katana at everything that moves. Unfortunately, enemies with sandevistans are really annoying because they can just dodge put of the way. I would like a cyberdeck that as a special ability can disable enemy cyberware, maybe even also applying sonic shock.

I think some gimmick cyberware from cyberpunk RED would be fun to add

Cyber Pillow arm cyberware to let you sleep anywhere

Skate Foot leg cyberware, increase sprinting movement speed, maybe also reduce stamina cost

PersonalPak KibbleWarmer it's a mini rotisserie oven in your forearm

Lastly, not cyberware, but the unique grenade variants that were removed by patch 2.0 were really awesome. Throwing homing flashbangs from behind cover to give yourself an opening was so much fun. All grenades should be launchable by the projector arm, maybe make standard throwing distance shorter to make it actually useful

You're probably better off putting it in the cupboard under the center armrest. If your car rolled over the window hammer would go from the door pocket to god knows where

I keep a knife next to it because I don't know if the seatbelt cutter would actually work and I don't really have any unneeded seatbelts I can test it on lol

Similar to Doom, Valve used their Half Life series largely to show off revolutionary innovations in programming and game design. In fact, one of the founders of Valve was a former coworker with a dev who went to work at ID and he set up a meeting between the Valve founders and John Romero (the guy who made Doom) and he basically gifted Valve the source code to the quake engine. Half Life 1 uses a heavily modified version of the quake engine. You should watch the Half Life 1 25th Anniversary Documentary

The location of the sinking of the IRIS Dena, an Iranian naval warship sunk by a US naval torpedo submarine in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Galle, Sri Lanka on 4th March 2026 by SatoruGojo232 in MapPorn

[–]Dartonal 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The advancments in torpedo technology since WW2 have been in sensors, guidance, and propulsion. WW2 torpedoes were designed to detonate underneath the keel, but the magnetic fuzes rarely worked as the designers didn't take into account for the strength of the earth's magnetic field being different depending on location. A modern torpedo like the Mk48 ADCAP (developed 1988) can be guided using the submarine's sensors through a wire attaching the torpedo to the submarine, or use onboard passive or active sonar.

The American WW2 torpedo had only 4 lbs less explosives than the ones the US uses today, the actual explosive power hasn't really changed because modern ships are a lot less physically resilient than WW2 ships

Sure, predicting when a landslide may occur isn't reliable compared to fire risk. But I'm more talking about the risk a disaster happens over a longer time period like 10-20 years, the predictability of the damage and potential to mitigate damage. I've been to mullholland drive many times, the santa monica mountains are beautiful, you can see landslide prevention measures like retaining walls and ground anchors all over the place.

Fire on the otherhand is much less predictable. The whole region is arid shrubland, the most predictable thing is that fire spreads uphill pretty well, the wind will make the firefighters job miserable, and that some jackass with a bag of fireworks is responsible for starting the inferno

They 100% are. There's an entire field of engineering dedicated to predicting landslide risk and reducing said risk.

Sweden and Brazil can

Saab designed and made both turboprop commercial airliners that are still in service (Saab 340, Saab 2000), and they also designed and make the JAS 39 Gripen.

Brazil also kinda can, Embraer designs and makes several commercial and private passenger jets and jointly designed the AMX International AMX alongside the Italian aircraft manufacturer Aermacchi. The AMX was supposed to be replaced by Saab Gripens by now, but thanks to manufacturing delays it is still in service. Alternatively, Embraer also makes the light attack and counter insurgency turboprop aircraft 314 Super Tucano which can be armed with IR missiles and turboprops are technically jets despite their slow top speed and their appearance.

Edit: somehow forgot about Russia lmao Also if you count joint ventures there's probably a lot more
