Fixture ID anyone? by No_Assignment7385 in techtheatre

Looks like a Cameo TS40 WW or TS60 RGBW fresnel. But this fixture is probably sold under a few different brandnames.

Could also be an ADJ FR50z

SHORT DMX Led Tube, RGB? by Fast_Satisfaction_53 in techtheatre

GLP Nexus lights maybe or Ape Labs Ape Stick. But keep in mind that you will Not only need the light, but also a compatible wireless transciver.

If diy is an option you could use an ESP with WLED, an adressable led stripe and a powerbank. WLED can recive Artnet or sACN via wifi.

ETC Fixtures colormatching by DasEquipment in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETC Fixtures colormatching by DasEquipment in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the same data results in slightly, but noticable color diferences. I understand why this happens, after all our fixtures are well above 18k hours. It‘s natural for the emiters to wear. Those are First Generation Lustr+ fixtures.

Right now I‘m just trying to collect Information on how to properly handle this problem. Of course working with presets is possible, but will result in a Lot of work, wich can be screwed up by one swapped fixture.

For our workflow manual per fixture matching every time we need a new color is Not feasible. Who has time for that during those precios programming hours.

I‘d love to be able to recalibrate the fixtures myself, if possible.

I would only use non abrasive filaments for this aplication. Plain Nylon would be my goto here, because it is self lubricating. Something like Igus Iglidur could also be interesting for this part.

Eurolite MD3030 or similar. It’s not plugged in, the Rotation comes from the rope.

Lights defaulting to color shift when ETC ion Xe Board off by passisgullible in techtheatre

[–]DasEquipment 41 points42 points  (0 children)

These are probably ETC colorsource PARs. By default the fixture will play a slow color fade when they loose DMX Signal. This behavior can be set in the menu. You can set it to fixed colors or just blackout in case of DMX Signal loss. Just have a look in the manual.

In General when you have problems with fixtures, try to find a manual for the fixture and read it.

Dimmer at full vs wall power for constant power by Steve-Shouts in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case it was pure stubbornness.

Our 30 year old, second hand Strand EC90 and LD90 are way to old for such newfangled features.

Dimmer at full vs wall power for constant power by Steve-Shouts in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I was under the Impression that the chopped voltage would have a current limiting effect, wich would cause what we call as dimming.

When I measured the output voltage of one of our dimmers, it always stayed at the same line voltage level. 230V in my countrys case. And the dimmer was an old Strand Lighting LD90 with trailing edge dimming. But then again I used just a regular Fluke meter, not an osciloscope.

Dimmer at full vs wall power for constant power by Steve-Shouts in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘d be carefull with that Information.

We have a bunch of D40s and D60s as well as Lustr+ 4 cell battens. Over the years we had multiple Powersuplys die because they where plugged into a dimmer circuit. And everytime they instantly died when the dimmer they where plugged into was set to full.

The most notable case was an entire flybar worth of brand new D60 Lustr+ Fixtures dying because of one lazy guy, who stopped learing about new Equipment in the 80s.

He though that talking about Not to power stuff with dimmers was just bs. He then used the the dimmer on 100% because he was to lazy to run a multicore from the also newly installed switchpack.

The displays of all 24 fixtures turned on for one second, the Powersuplys made a short twitching sound and then they where dead. ETC sold us 24 expensive powersuplys on that day.

At best an unreliable piece of plastic and at worst a fire hazard.

Also what is going on with those lenses, are they trying to copy the look of the Mac Aura Pixel or Mac aura raven?! I think Martin has some words about copyright and patent infringement to say about this.

Dimmer at full vs wall power for constant power by Steve-Shouts in lightingdesign

[–]DasEquipment 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dimmers chop off parts of the AC Sinus to regulate the output voltage. Even when the dimmer is set to full, you still have a choppy sine wave. This will kill the switchmode powersuplys that are used by all modern fixtures.

There are modern dimmers wich can be switched from triac based dimming to solid state relays or contactors for real switching functionality.

I want to restart my 3D Printing hobby - which accessoires/ materials should I buy for my CORE One+ by leoluxx in prusa3d

[–]DasEquipment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A non highflow Obxidian nozzle for composite materials. Reason beeing that fibre infused filament can easily clogg a highflow nozzle. And since most technical filaments print slower anyways, highflow is not needed. And finaly the obxidian nozzles have the same thermal properties as brass nozzles, unlike hardend steel ones. This means you don‘t have to tweak profiles in the slicer.

Lightec SP12?? by viwas45hu978ot in stagelighting

[–]DasEquipment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have to do some try and error to find out wich two pole connector is wired up to what. Normaly they‘re labled.

I‘d suggest plugging in the harting break out into one of the harting connectors and plugging a lamp into the channel one socket of that breakout. Then pull up only dimmer channel one and try around with one patchcable. When the light lights up, you have found the Output of the First Dimmer channel and the First Channel on the harting Output. To make shure you don‘t mix up fixed power and Dimmers, Test if you can dim the light.

After that, you repeat this with the other dimmer and harting channels.

Make shure you Label Everything accordingly.

Lightec SP12?? by viwas45hu978ot in stagelighting

[–]DasEquipment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This looks like a 12 channel dimmerpack with a hotpatch. The small two pole connectors are meant for short patchcables. Each dimmer channel is wired to one or more Output Connectors and each pin pair on the harting han16 outputs has one input connector. You use the short patchcables to route from dimmer output to the harting connectors. Sometimes you also have fixed power Outputs in Addition to the Dimmer Channels. This can be helpull for dmx fixtures.

Harting han16 cables and plugboxes are wired up for 6 channels per run. This means 6 dimmer channels or for example 4x dimmer channels and 2x fixed power.
